This should be the standard for car reviews. The zany, silly reviews from other known price comparison car sites are just tiresome. This is clear, focused, precise and you see and hear what you need to know. Kudos to WhatCar for this.
I have driven around half a dozen current 500s and I was never disspointed...
The melody was composed by the great Nino Rota, and it was made for the movie "Amacord" by Fellini (1973), yes, the same guy to filmed "La dolce Vita".
I know there are bigger small EV cars but non have the charisma of the 500. BTW they should still make the 500 Abarth with this generation but with an ICE. That would be sharp! However, it's just wishful thinking.

Honestly, I find your way of presenting very refreshing. You don't squeal like a stuck pig, you don't keep chuckling needlessly or burst in stupid laughter to demonstrate how excited you are. Just calm talking, good camera, putting the car on stage. Really good review. I just disagree with the battery choice. I think the smaller battery, given this will be in most cases a second car for local runs, makes much more sense. It is actually very good that they offer it at a cheaper price.
The front design is soooo beautiful.. I just can't stand small cars.. But Well done fiat👏👏👏
Ok - so I’ve not had electric, but I’ve driven fiats over the past 30 years with genuinely no major issues throughout. The only ‘extras’ I’ve ended up paying for is wear & tear (2 occasional there were replacement brake pads & on 1 occasion a wheel bearing) , have been great reliable & economic cars !

Doug always asks for comments, but does he ever read any? Never seen him down here. Anyway, good review. Bit harsh on ‘old’ 500 - I’ve had two in my time & don’t resonate with his comments at all.
I am not old enough to drive, but I would like to buy this car in the future when I am 18/19/20.

wow , great small EV so much better than the expensive rubbish range honda E.... curious this tester said you would not want the short range option fiat 500E which has the same range as the Honda E ..... yes love this fiat....❤️
115 miles would probably be enough for most people if they could charge at home or work every few days

When in "one-pedal-mode", do the brake lights come on when you just lift off of the accelerator? (Without actually touching the brake pedal)

Legally they have to come at certain levels of deceleration, although our e-208 feels like it slows pretty hard without triggering the lights.
Why the journalist forgot to speak about ADAS (safety features)? In some versions can be ordered with level 2 autonomous driving mode.

This was a great review of the EV, but all the negativity on the gas one made me want to throw tomatoes at my screen. It's such a fantastic car other than the black mold-in-colour interior plastic.

Love this car but i regularly have a man in my car who is 6 foot 5.
He comperes the back seat with other cars but for the superior range there is no comparison.
Possibly the Sherpa mode references the Italians success in first sumitters of K2 with Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli.
If they want to end the production of petrol and diesel cars where are going to plug in your EV if you have no garage, live in a flat or a high rise building... Could that be a possible flaw in the system?
The previous Fiat 500 interior is what people love.

Good design styling, but they should rethink about bringing it out in petrol engined models
Well, FIAT needs to sell as many EVs as it can to meet emission standards. Right now it is paying Tesla for credits. Also, FIAT has never managed to make a great engine and in fact they are known to be somewhat unreliable. With EVs they have a chance for a new start and EV drive trains are inherently reliable.
This is their first calling card and they’ve done a great job. It’s a chance for FIAT to re-invent itself. I mean they’re up against BMW’s Mini and I believe that the 500 is as good and even better in some ways.

@@ewadge Is that a joke, that Fiat has never created a great engine? I agree with you other things that you said and the other facts are correct but fiat has some extremely good and reliable engines. For example, think about that 1.9 liter JTD diesel, developed by Fiat and used by Alfa Romeo, Saab, Opel, Cadillac etc.

Obviously of little knowledge, it pays to know something of the subject before arguing about it. I do wonder why the ambulances in UK are Fiat, why 80% of motor homes are on Fiat chassis. Hmmm.

Honda e is more powerful and quicker. Ride quality is excellent. Less range is NOT a big issue, unless you drive more than 80\90 miles each day.
Would like to try the 500 e, but suspect I will be happy to get back into my Honda

No one will build a better EV car than Tesla, until they have the brilliant infrastructure that Tesla have and that their cars actually have a BETTER running gear than a Tesla does.
Just wait till Tesla make a small family hatch. Smaller, and cheaper, than their current Model 3. But they've not said this... YET!

Tesla has not introduced a small family hatch because they don't have the technology and the productive dimensions required to make it even competitive with the actual ones, figures to make it cheaper.
Small manufacturers don't produce small, economic cars.

The cheap one, the Polestar will cost £80k or more. The other two are way north of £1.75 million.
