Hi, Evan! I am so happy you are full time homesteader. I look forward to seeing you and Rebekah more often!!!! You have brought new life to many older farm implements.
Don’t think I could say any better myself @pampilgrim2274
Wouldn't be a true Countryview episode without an Evan whoopsie!
Good job my dad used to say “ensure you have a full tank of fuel and spare parts to fix the minor problems in the field “ good to hear your yield was above your expectations ❤❤😊
Smart fellow, good to watch a guy that can admit his mistakes
Congrats on your full time TH-cam status! We have enjoyed your video the past several years and appreciate you and Rebecca's hard work to make your farm what it is today. Keep your videos coming!
I’m 65 and one thing I’ve learned is to always expect Murphy’s Law to kick in some where 👍👍👍👍
Several years ago I started watching you as you were constantly having to repair hay baling machinery. You’ve come a long way.
I can tell a difference in you since you are a full time homesteader. This bailing still looked better than usual!!!
I guess it is quite a relief that you do not have to do the field work after work anymore, and not having to watch the weather forecast and plan it around work anymore.
Hey Evan. Love your videos. No reason to plug the lights in at all while you’re baling.
Isn't that the way it seems to go sometimes. Nothing goes right when you really want it to. Glad it all worked out in the end and a better harvest than you first thought.
Hey Evan! Love the vids, nothin better in my opinion than baling some hay on a nice summers day! Keep up the great work!
Adventures of a Retired Farmer Evans. Never know what life hands you next but the suspence has it's moments. Nice come back and save on the bailer and nice video.
If things didn't go wrong it wouldn't be farming. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
It is great to see the relief on your face.
In my opinion, you are not a real farmer if there is something that doesn't go wrong somewhere. Machines and man are a combination that is unpredictable and our learning curve just continues on. Congratulations on the number of bales and that the damage didn't hamper making the rest of the bales.
folks like CVA are salt of the earth and a joy to watch...no loud music..no fake drama..just being real what a small farm operator goes thru and deals with..new sub here..and just wanted to tell how i appreciate you guys..peace..
You will be surprised in a few more years how much easier all of this will get for you. The little things you forget will be old habit at some point. You are smart and will get all the kinks out. I couldn't help but laugh as you told of your mishaps. I know the feeling. Keep on plugging away.
I hope now that you are a full time utube. You can put out lots more videos each week.
Evan, you should have titled this video, "A day in the life of a Full Time Farmer"....
So glad it was just the tail light cable! You are correct, it could have been much worse. Loving the increase in content! Congrats again on going full time TH-cam.
I gotta tell you, you're a hoot, I very much like the honesty and up front with your mistakes but having said that you find a way, I'll repeat that YOU FIND A WAY and that is cool. I wish you nothing but good fortune with your life moving on and as long as I'm here (almost 82) I'll be here watching.
Glad the damage to the bailer is minor! Always nice to have it be better than you thought.
Yep....a day in the life, but you always work it out. I find myself smiling as you tell on yourself. It's admirable. Keep up the good work and please keep the videos coming. I know it's a lot of extra work to do so but we do, so much, look forward to seeing what you get into next. I think you may truly be coming aware of how much watching Country View Acres has become *a thing* for us. I especially look forward to your little quips since your sense of humor is quite entertaining.
Glade we may see more videos now that you are full time 😊
Using the lathe to enlarge the washer is WAY better than trying to drill it out, over-sized. Simple things like that save a LOT of time, when you have to improvise/fabricate parts. Waiting for the correct part you order wastes much time, too, and that's avoided. Compared to all those struggles with your first efforts at hay-making, you've come a LONG way, Evan.
I’m fairly new to your channel. What caught my interest initially was not only your beautiful farm but your skill and knowledge working with old equipment. Kudos. Follow your dream.
Do yourself a favor and go back and watch from the beginning ❤
@@Bex-rg8pjhis house build was how so found the channel back then. I’ve stuck around for the ranching and just a genuinely nice couple.
So it goes with baling hay. I remember when my boss had a brand new New Holland small square baler. We had gone maybe 100 feet when the shear pin popped. Replaced. 10 more feet. 2nd pin popped. Installed pin #3. Engaged the PTO...POP! Installed pin #4. Engaged PTO...POP! Boss was NOT a happy camper. We pulled that new baler back to the dealership. Turned out it had skipped time due to something not being tightened down properly. It took two days for the dealership to figure it out, but it was finally fixed and worked flawlessly the rest of that season and the two following seasons. Fun times.
It could have been worse. Then you kick the tripod. I love your adventures.
I still say I really enjoy your channal thanks so much
Evan you did a very good Job man and Like very mush your Videos .
You sure had a day today !! I LOVE YOU GUYS !!! 🥰🥰
Hi..... Evan thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
I suggest getting a fire extinguisher to carry with you when baling if you don’t have one. If the baler ever catches fire (and they are known to), you may lose the baler, tractor and hayfield. Balers are notorious for catching fire. Lots of moving parts and friction involved.
Congratulations Evan, awesome baling and you don't need those tail lights ! Old balers didn't have them and my dad always considered them an unnecessary option. LOL
As far as a fuel tank, just in case you're interested, I got a 55-gallon drum and a hand pump that has worked great for me for a little over a year now. I built a pallet out of treated lumber with tie down eyelets I use to strap it down and screwed down some wood blocks to keep the bottom of the barrel in place on the pallet. I loaded it up in the back of the truck and filled it up at the gas station initially but usually end up just stopping by and filling up a couple of 5 gallon jugs every now and then to help keep fuel in the barrel topped off instead of waiting until it's empty and loading it up in the truck. Here's what all I got off of Amazon. Hope it helps.
Hand pump - Fill-Rite FR152 Fuel Transfer Piston Hand Pump w/Discharge Hose, Nozzle Spout, & Suction Pipe
Filter System - Fill-Rite 1200KTF7018 18 GPM 10 Micron Particulate Filter Kit
Vent Cap - Dee Zee DZGASCAP Transfer Tank Vented Cap w/ Threaded Neck
I like your ingenuity! Still sounds like a bit of a hassle to keep it filled though. If the local CO-OP has a delivery truck, a bigger tank that's filled a few times per year might make more sense. I reckon it depends on how much fuel he actually uses. Wouldn't hurt to get both diesel and unleaded tanks, because he might get a good fuel price, and they'll never need to visit the gas station.
@@spacehonky6315 Thanks. It can be a hassle but, I guess it depends on how fast you go through it. I don't use a whole lot but do eventually run out. But, doing it that way really reduces the number of times I have to load everything up, which can be a hassle in itself. Also, my tractors fuel tank is located up high where it's a hassle to climb up to fill with heavy 5 gallon jugs.
After another painful, tiring, visit to 3 sets of doctors, come home to find another country view video. Great, super. Thanks guys!
Hope you will be doing OK. I just had a few visits myself, had my first cataract surgery. Have a feeling you had a worse time than I did. Take good care of yourself.
Murphy's Law - always in effect!
It's like watching Farm Simulator with you picking up hay. I want this life. I just cannot afford it right now, so I will live vicariously through you.
Great going Evan, things worked out better for you this time on repairs needed. Great bale count on those two fields for the first cutting this summer. Hope you have plenty of hay on hand for winter feeding of the animals. You and Rebecca keep up the great videos and the fun you all have around there. Stay safe, Fred.
Hello Evan Rebecca enjoyed your video I enjoy making hay. Have a great day.
Excellent Evan. Looks like a banner harvest my man. Love how you have taken old and broken machines an recycled them into new /used hard working implements.
With your luck, get that PTO guard ASAP and a fire extinguisher.
I enjoyed the video.
Them GEHL Balers always make great bales nice hard core bales
Camera work is excellent thanks for all your hard work your video are always entertaining
Outstanding job! I learn so much watching your videos! Thanks! God Bless and stay safe.
How much more productive and enjoyable are your efforts now than you can work them full time. I think you appear to be less stressed already.
Feels good to have more hay than you figured on! Bales look great
Evan, my dad used to say ‘the hurrier I go; the behinder I get!’ So he would take his time even when we had hay down a big storm approaching. I always think what ever can’t go wrong will and probably something’s I don’t know about.
Evan, sorry you had some problems today. At least you were able to finish baling. Have a great rest of your Friday a wonderful weekend and Happy Father’s Day.
It's always enjoyable to watch you doing the repairs on your equipment. You need to have a well rounded knowledge of all mechanical equipment. You do very well.
Wow! What a relief! It sure is a good feeling when things break your way.
Evan- at 1: 31 in your video I saw where the piece that you found broke off ,, you can see where it came from directly below your index finger , directly above the pivot of that small arm, another terrific video, a normal day in a farmers life, you’re terrific at working through problems and keeping your cool, congrats again on retiring, live the good life , blessings to you and yours, keep on keeping on..!!
good job^^ well dried hay. it seems that the quality of hay is wonderful you will always have good luck. thanks for sharing all your life.😅😅
Great Video. All well that ends well.., great job.. 👍
Love smell of fresh hay. Dad always baled small square bales. Lots of hard work!
Hope you are enjoying your retirement I know I am, get to see more videos of my favorite TH-cam channel. I like that you show your mistakes everyone makes them but I like your honesty. You and Rebecca are good people. Keep up the good work and God bless
Congrats, on your
“ official farmer “ Status
Hi evan/its 04.35am here In the uk.made my first coffee of the day and I always enjoy your content. I so happy you are in the position that you could give up the day job/you deserve all the luck possible. Anyway sending positive vibes to you from the uk.thanks mate.
Awesome video thank you
I was waiting for this vid. Love to see this. I grew up on a small farm in the Netherlands. So enjoying the honest work.
Happy to see you back great video as always and thanks again wish you and your family all the best and your friends
So happy for you. We enjoy seeing your work. I’m so happy that you’re getting to be a full time TH-camr. We will definitely keep supporting you
I am wondering ...??? now that you are a full time homesteader...if you are wondering how you ever had the time to work a 40 hour job!
Full time farmer now you are doing great!!
Well isnt it a blessing to be retired? It’s also a great thing you are great at fixing things.
That wire holder is called a polgle stick (it is sold in truck stores) it holds the 7 wire plug and when applicable the handles for air brakes on an air brake system.
Tractor and baler look good together and the pair really look good on the overhead drone shot.
Glad you were able to get the hay baled up & that you got more bales than expected. You'll have those minor hiccups with the equipment every now & again. Keep up the good work there.
A bad day round baling is better than a good day square baling. I've loaded enough of those square bales with ants in them on a trailer to feed your cows for 10 years in my summers as a youth. Round bale equipment is annoying, but the results sure are better to deal with. You look happier in your videos since going full-time. Wish you both the best. God bless.
If ya ain't running to roads then don't worry about the Bailers light
Weldone, Evan. So glad you a good turn out. Great video. 💕🙏
Some times with out bad luck . You would have no luck at all . Your blessed I hope you know it . God bless.
Why are round bales so satisfying to look at? I'm glad you kept at it and avoided the square bales
I like to see those machines running. I'm always curious to see how they all work in real time. Thank you for showing it.
Great Video Shots 👍
Great job Evan so glad you got more that you thought! God Bless you!
Farmer of the year, Evan. God bless
Nice looking hay, nice looking windows, I had an Allis model 77 rake, you can't hardly beat the old side discharge rakes, the upright pole your talking about is called a pogo stick, longer wheelbase road tractors have them to hold up the airlines and electric line,go to just about any heavy truck parts supply house and you'll find what you need, on my Peterbilts I had the pogo stick that had a bracket that held the lines and a big spring that bracket hooked to,that spring held the lines up and gave you a whole lot of slack when making a tight corner. You're doing good , keep it up and finish that Allis up for us guys that are partial to orange paint.
Nice looking hay. Like seeing you can fix just about anything.
Great video Evan. It wouldn't be normal if a haying operation went without problems!!!
Kudos on Evaluating what was needed and sticking with this haying. Great harvest!!!! Nice you didn’t have to do it on “days off”.
Would like to see you make a sun blocking canopy on this smaller tractor.
Great result from your harvest. Wow, my eyes popped when you said how much that small sensor cost.
Hey Evan great to see you working the fields...amazing camera shots...from Rochester NY
You’re the best
Glad to see no dust flying, here it looks like white clounds when the trucks go in and out. First time to see a hay bailling . Looks good.
The critters will be very happy
Remember if you anit. Breaking something then your not working
Thanks Evan! Really enjoy your channel!
Is it too late to ask for your old job back? I'm kidding. Even though you're still screwing up I sense less stress now. That's a good thing. 👍👍👍
Glad everything worked out. Blessings🙂
Congrats on another job well done and Finally over! lol Time to get some rest in celebration hopefully :)
Hang that taillight cable on your wall of shame 😂. BTW, congrats on full time TH-cam. You come across as much more relaxed.
Congrats on your hay total !!!😁
I love making hay good luck with yours. You always have some fun with each video, Thanks Evan ,
See look at all work you and now it paying off nice job and hang in there next cutting it should just smooth for you
We would have left the string off of that bale instead of rolling it out and rebaling it. We take it to the storage area with the baler and then eject it. Also one could eject it and then pick it up with the rear bale carrier on our loader tractor. It is possible to work around the bale when you know there are no strings on it.
Perdy for first cut!!😊
Congrats on the amount of hay, so sorry you had issues with the baling. I've made similar mistakes, don't beat yourself up too bad, lesson learned, right! I hope you have a good weekend!
Good quality hay!
Our farm had a The conditioning system on the mower-conditioner is intended to crack, split or abrade the plant stem to provide easy routes for the plant water to escape, helping to overcome the natural tendency of the plant to hold onto water.
A mower conditioner is mostly a bad idea breaking the fibers like that and a simple sickle mower would be fine for fields your size under 700 acres.
I love watching you fix old junk though especially when it works.
Don't bring up the sickle mower to Evan! Not his favorite piece of equipment.
@@dwightl5863 😆 I remember that. A good tedder is worth all the money.
Awesome job
