In this clip, Chris Herren spoke to Coach PR about excelling in high school basketball, but still not believing that he could play at a bigger level. When speaking about being a McDonald’s All-American player in high school, Chris spoke about playing with Felipe Lopez, Kareem Reid, Antoine Walker, and Lorenzen Wright. Chris explained that he didn’t feel comfortable on that big of a stage, and he clarified that it was more about the atmosphere.
Moving along, Coach PR spoke to Chris Herren about playing at Boston College after turning down offers from Kentucky and Duke, and Chris explained that Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Florida were also in the running. He added that staying at home in Boston was both safe and unsafe, and Chris went on to speak about speaking with Coach John Calipari, who encouraged him to go to prep school for a year. Chris explained that he thought it was an insult at the time, but he realizes now that it would’ve been a great way for him to adjust after high school. From there, Chris spoke about being the centerfold in Sports Illustrated magazine at 18, and Chris went on to share a story about being introduced to drugs his freshman year. Chris explained that he knew the dangers of cocaine after his friend Len Bias overdosed, but he was drawn to it because he found it “therapeutic.”

When he said he "grew up with Len Bias", he meant he grew up with it being a huge story in his hometown of Boston. He was 10 years old when Bias died. They were clearly not friends.
I used to wake up after a night of coke thinking I spent how much?? Then I'd start wondering if I stashed some back for morning..

I definitely remember my HS coach telling our team in the locker room RIGHT BEFORE the beginning of a 'Christmas Tournament' in NC.. "You see those dudes on the 1st row.. those are dudes from the barbershops & local business owners. The lights are on, and I need y'all to work and pay attention to the GAME not the CROWD!" We lost.. but it was a great memory to feel the 'bright lights' when it's 'go time'.. 💯💯💯

I had to go to a drug program for an ovi and had to watch a movie about this guy and it was awesome …I had to go for 72 hours and had a bunch of percs at home waiting on me….I still ate em when I got home but still a great movie.

MAN!!!! This Chris Herren interview is the Coos Coo. Coach PR should interview former Duke basketball player Brain Davis. He was Persona Non Grata for a minute until 2006 when he tried to buy the Memphis Grizzlies with no bread & got exposed by the former Memphis mayor Willie Herenton because of that plus some. Davis was trying to get Christian Laettner, who was playing for the Grizzlies at the time, to help him buy the team but Laettner didn't because it was a conflict of interest & folks didn't blame him one bit for not chipping in. The last image I remember of seeing Brian Davis was on the front page of the Memphis newspaper The Commerical Appeal, coming through the airport with a nice suit on & the clear sunglasses like he was the shit. If Coach PR can manage to get Davis, he should ask him what REALLY happened with the attempted purchase of the Memphis Grizzlies
When I was in rehab one time I remember there was only a handful of DVD's available in the facility. They had to be recovery based or we weren't allowed to watch them, so there was maybe 5 or 6 DVDs they'd let us watch. By my 28th day there I remember telling the people fresh in from the detox that if they even looked at that Chris Herring video I was gonna give 'em a smack!!! I had to watch that damn thing 3 times a day for 3 weeks by this point and I couldn't take it for one more second!!

He would have never made it at UK or Duke. Too much pressure and throw cocaine in the mix he would have been exposed and threw out of either school.
He did say he was introduced to coke in Boston college. So if he went to those other schools, maybe he wouldn’t have done it.

In the US there’s a good chance that there’s fentanyl in any cocaine you buy. It’s incredibly risky to even snort a line now
