Part 3: • Chris Herren on Only L...
    Part 5: • Chris Herren on $25K/M...
Part 1: • Chris Herren on Settin...
    --------
In this clip, Chris Herren discussed getting into a huge bar fight while at Fresno St. which prompted the local SWAT team to be deployed to arrest him. He talked about the pressure he felt playing at Fresno St. and maintaining his spot in a highly competitive program. Chris also commended Fresno St. for not taking a punitive approach to his drug addiction and actually tried getting him help.
Later, Chris Herren talked about being the subject of a Fox documentary which felt more like a reality show for him after he left rehab and returned to his team at Fresno St. He then recounted speaking with the legendary Mike Wallace for ’60 Minutes’ and what that conversation entailed. Chris also opened up about his decision to return to college after that season citing his desire to win as the main reason.
Herren revealed he nervous about entering the NBA Draft. After going 33rd to the Denver Nuggets, Chris recalled his rookie experience and how he only made $303K on his first deal. He also said that he cried when he was traded away from Denver after establishing a sense of camaraderie with his Nuggets teammates.

I'll never forget when Chris came to my high school 11 years ago and told his story about addiction and all the money and fame and family he lost . I never thought sitting there listening to him that day that I'd be an addict today. I wish i would've gotten the help back then i needed to have the tools to be sober today. Im so proud of this man and i pray that I'll get it too.

It’s great to see Chris still doing his thing. I remember seeing his documentary when it came out. Lost more friends and family than I can count at this point. Started with Oxy, then it was heroin, and now fentanyl is killing everybody. Spent my 20’s watching my favorite artists pass and my best friends. To all of those in need of help, please go find that before you end up dying. I know that you think you have some special connection with drugs and you can shoot dope all day or drink lean or pop another pill but I swear you’re gonna stop breathing. Then everyone you loved is absolutely broken for the rest of their life. This isn’t some shame game but the reality of someone who has lived the life and ran with the best. But, they’re gone too because no one is supposed to feel that bad. Shame doesn’t work, guilt tripping, talking, etc. This is me saying love those people and encourage and if you’re someone wanting to do the deal, then find what works for you. This dude is a great example of someone still doing the deal. Thank you Chris for being an inspiration to someone like myself and others. I hope you and your family stay blessed. Everybody take care of yourself and don’t forget that the world is a weird place, so keep it weird and find your own lane. The best kind of people are the honest ones, just remember that in the future when you think about doing some sketchy shit. ✌️

He came and spoke at my school 11 years ago and i didnt listen. I dropped out months later and Ive been an addict for 8 years. Listen to that shit people tell you. Its not because they think they are smarter than you and have all the answers. Its because they've seen the destruction and know how real and easy it is to get on drugs and how much of a fight it is to win the battle. Dont do drugs. Dont even think about it for a second. It feels real good for a minute but the pain and suffering you put yourself and loved ones through for years is unimaginable. Stay in school and away from drugs. No matter how dumb it sounds, its so real.

I had a basketball video game back in the 90s that when you look at the season stats it was a player from Denver tha was averaging like 25 a game and they had him as a white player on team full of ballers and his name was Chris herren. I always thought it was a made up player. Now I know.

Great college hooper but never reached his potential for obvious reasons.
As he mentioned, he probably peaked as a basketball player his sophomore year at Fresno.
Either that or after his first year in Denver staying clean but his statistics in the NBA showed that he never really had a chance at being a star and would have had to have been absolutely dialed in just to be a starter in the association.
      He was “pigmantally challenged”.
