"Time stands still and I am cold......."Seemann ( "Sailor" ) .......Nina is a unique performer/artist/vocalist who, even though I don't speak German, captures the eyes, ears and soul of this viewer.......'"Der beste Seemann war doch ich......."
The only rammstein cover that tops the original version. Why ? Surely because of Nina ! The cool "Ossi Girl" really is a class of her own. Every time I hear this song waves of emotions are rolling throuh my body.
Nina Hagen was a Punk icon in the 70ties and 80ties, she is very popular in Germany... I prefer the Nina version of this song because it's more dramatic. When Rammstein performs "Seemann" on stage, the keyboarder (Christian "Flake" Lorenz), is crowdsurfing with a rubber boat among the audience. I saw that live two years ago during a concert in my hometown.. Another good song by Nina Hagen is "Hold me" (1989).
I like this old punk queen. I bow reverently to her ability, but not to her life. This woman has a proven power voice of 4 octaves, she has proven over 5, wow and I believe that. Search and find. Btw: You should yawn later🤔😉
I love Apocalyptica - actually first heard them when they supported Rammstein on their 2004 European Tour. This is a solid cover, but is not a patch on the original. The lyrics are very sad and melancholic, touching on themes of dispair, broken lives and failed relationships. For me Nina is quite agressive and angry in her delivery which changes the feel of the song. The original peaks and troughs, mimicking the waves of the ocean and the fluctuating emotions in the lyrics. It's such a beautiful song, and one that made me fall in love with Rammstein. "At the end I am left alone time stands still and I am cold cold...cold...cold"
Thanks for the heart and sorry, I forgot a link. It is from 1996 in Berlin, so maybe not the best qualitiy, but still you get a feeling for it. ;-) th-cam.com/video/DsPSMHvBeY8/w-d-xo.html
One thing you should know is that this song is not the property of Rammstein, it is the domain of German-speaking navigators and those regions, that the band has popularized it globally, is different.
What a nice video. It's already a little older but I feel the urge to comment on it. The original interpretation of this song sounds unnatural to my ears. Especially Till Lindemann's high voice somehow didn't fit. It wasn't until I watched this actual video of the cover version that I realized: this song is a woman's song (the alluring song of the sirens?). Rammstein is so caught up in displays of masculinity that they have difficulty portraying this song believably - no matter what outfit Till Lindemann is wearing. Nina Hagen's cover version is very important as it rounds off the song. Great praise also goes to Apocalyptica and its musical interpretation. It shows us the proximity of this composition to classical music.
Translate Seemann Get in my boat A storm is brewing and night’s approaching Where do you want to go? So very alone, you drift away Who will hold your hand When it pulls you under
Where do you want to go? The sea is cold and so infinite Get in my boat The autumn wind keeps the sails taut
Now you stand there by the lamp With tears running down your face The daylight falls to the side The autumn wind sweeps the street clean ¹
Now you stand there by the lamp With tears running down your face Evening light chases the shadows away Time stands still and autumn’s approaching
Get in my boat Longing becomes The helmsman
Get in my boat Yet I was The best sailor
Now you stand there by the lamp With tears running down your face You take fire from the candle Time stands still and autumn’s approaching
They only spoke of your mother Only the night is so merciless In the end I am still alone Time stands still And I am cold
@@r.e.8319 Na dann los... rann an Rammstein... LOL
I prefer the original. Nina's cover sounds too angry in some parts. All in all, it's the best Rammstein cover. You should definitely listen to Apocalyptica and Till with the song "Helden". It is a cover of David Bowie's song "Heroes".
I am not a fan of nina she was always agains the pubic ways she could have very alot in all her songs way better but she always had to attack public and the songs in my eyes are bad but was the time
Honestly absolutely love Rammstein but this version is even better. Nina Hagen is just out of this world.

Isnt that «Haifisch»?
@@subway5907 yes, usually "Haifisch" but sometimes they do this rubber boat thing with the song "Seemann".
She not wasn't...she is!
I like it
I like Nina since the 70´s😍

Watch the live Version from 1996 or the official Video from Rammstein! Not the 2016 Version...
Please also look at the original one, you will be surprised. ;-) Thanks for the reaction.

Nice reaction. Maybe try Focus - Hokus Pokus live next the version they did an American tv.
Ok thanks. I'll check that out!

This song is amazing, but has nothing, really nothing to do with Ramstein, only the name of this song is the same! Seemann- Seaman! I am a German!
