    This video shows how to install a grommet. With the proper tools, anyone can do this. Very simple, and extremely useful. Whether you're making a golf towel, a BBQ hand towel, or adding to a tarp, this is extremely EZ. Have fun making your own!@

    Very good K.I.S.S. video! Two things that you can do as well is to 1) glue the fold, &/or 2) stitch up the fold. This adds greater strength to the grommet. Good vid!

      Really? I have some questions: 1) Looks like the washer has to be placed with the rounded side up (and not reversed) before using the flaring tool? Is that correct or it doesn't matter? 2) Do I need a different size tool for the different size grommets or are the tools one size fits all? 3) What is the flaring tool basically doing? Is it flaring out the neck of the grommet such that it crimps the washer in place? 4) This is more of a statement and observation then a question, it looks like the side you do the work on is the "rough" looking side and therefore to work on the same side of the cloth for all grommets. Nevertheless, it's a nice demo on how to install a grommet.

    because you didn’t even have to do that.

    I have the same kit, got it in Home Depot and the hole tube definitely needs to be sharpened each time you use it. In fact, no matter how sharp I would get it, it still wouldn't cut through 6 layers of fabric for drawstring backpack. For a couple of layers, yes it's is fine.

      Yes, the punch is low quality. Might find a better one from Tandy Leather stores.

      @@PhilCrockett my husband came running into the room, “what’s that bluegrass you are listening to?” Me”I’m learning about grommets” 😂😂. (My tool to cut the fabric is brand new and a bit dull. It wasn’t that cheap either. Rrrrr... but try results were perfect. Thanks again!)

    • @PhilCrockett
      @PhilCrockett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL! You guys sound like my kind of people! Indeed the cutting tip on these punches are garbage. If you have a bench grinder, you can sharpen these on a fine grit wheel.
      side note about the music... I get a fair amount of complaints about the music. I have a survey I put out to my subscribers, and it turns out that the majority of the people out there would rather have silence than music. I quit putting music in my videos after I got this data. bummer, but I SURE appreciate the fact that someone else likes it. Thanks for watching my video and commenting. I hope you like my other videos as well. God bless you and be safe, my friend!

    Nice video! I have a poster flag obsession and some of the flags I like don't come with pre-installed grommets. I was thinking about finding a store that would install some for me, but this video and a DIY kit should be enough.

    • @PhilCrockett
      @PhilCrockett  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback! U should have no problem putting grommets in those flags. Let me know how it goes.

      HA! yes indeed. That music was more or less a 'phase' I went through. I put a survey out to my subs, and it came back showing that the majority would rather have silence than music. So.... I'm not torturing people any more. lol.
      Thanks for watching my video and commenting. I really appreciate it!

    Excellent how to, I’m wanting to make some golf towels and I’m needing them folded in thirds you made this look easy. Can you recommend good hole punch the one I have can’t even go thru two layers and I need three ( micro fiber towels ) love banjo reminds me of my dad

      I simply used the whole punch that came with the kit. However, Tandy leather is a good store to shop for things like that.
