    😁using tactical black grommets to keep that orange cloth from giving away your position.

    I have a box full of grommets (different sizes) and tools but I didn't know what to do with them. I tried, and it was a big failure. I watched this vid and calmed down. I found what fitted and got success. Thanks.

    I got sold in 55 seconds. Literally just added a grommet kit to my Amazon shopping list. It's just this kind of thing you don't think of until you realise how convenient and easy it is to DIY.

      Just make sure your material can stand the tugging it might get, like on a fly tarp. You might need to add some reinforcing panel(s).

    • @henryvalero9235

      @@toml.8210 From Lil Giant Ok. I give. How do you apply reinforcement?

    • @onikin
      @onikin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henryvalero9235 just put a stronger material (but not too thick) on both sides, cut through all the layers, and pound the grommet in. Trim the excess material you don't want.
      Could also put a dab of glue between material and grommets for a stronger seal.

    Nothing beats a good sewing/patch repair kit and a handful of grommets with a ball peen hammer LOL. I like it. I think grommets should be added to the shortlist of useful items along side duct tape and para cord.

  • @toml.8210
    @toml.8210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Right. The smaller grommets use a tool, that looks like a pair of pliers or a hole punch, and the larger ones use the tool you use with a hammer, unless you get the special grommet press.
    I've uased the hammer-tool on leather projects.

    I've been looking on Amazon for a grommet kit. However I'm hesitant to trust most tools on amazon with random, usually chinese, brand names. Most review channels on TH-cam I've learned not to trust as well. They just repeat what the top search results are.
    Imagine my surprise when your face pops up in my TH-cam search! Lol I've come to trust your gun reviews on your other channel. I was unaware you had another channel.
    Anyways when I saw your face I thought "Sootch!! Finally a review worth listening to!" Thank you for all the information you put out into the word for us to learn from.

    You can use this method for collecting rain water in survival situations, using a tarp and make 4 grommets in it and you can hang it on a tree or makeshift hangers.
    You should add grommets in your survival kits.

    You could possibly use a large rock to hammer the grommet?

    • @darthmusturd9526
      @darthmusturd9526 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      possibly, but it wouldnt work nearly as well as a regular tool. if you mean in place of the hammer and the tool, i wouldnt reccomend it because it would likely just mess up your grommet. in place of the hammer, sure, but it might slip and if it has any sharp edges, slice your thumb
