Tiana's Train Wreck! What's Going On At Disney? Are They Worried About Epic Universe?

- TIANA'S BAYOU ADVENTURE has been an absolute train wreck! From sneak previews to passholder days to the grand opening this attraction has been a disaster. Disney has completely fumbled the bag on this attraction and Tiana's deserves better as do we - the Disney fans. Today I want to talk about all the things that have been going wrong and why many fans have been upset by this entire ordeal. Is this all because Disney is worried about Universal's Epic Universe?

They should have made an ORIGINAL attraction for Tiana....and left Splash Mountain ALONE. If they had designed an indoor Tiana dark ride and put Dr. Facilier as the villain in there...from the ground up...in the REAL Bayou...it might have been a super hit!

@clifflix That would have been ideal. However, it doesn't address the core concern they wanted to solve and that was the old stereotypes used in the attraction that were less than fwd looking. The priority was to retheme the ride... 1st and foremost ...Tiana was IP they chose.
@@LChatmanFL - There was nothing wrong with Splash Mountain. The attraction was NOT racist. The people that created it are not racist is not racist. Tony Baxter himself worked with the NAACP in the development of Splash Mountain....and even the NAACP did NOT think the attraction was racist. In all my years of riding it and talking to hundreds of people about it....not one person EVER told me when they got off the ride: "Y'know,...I feel that this ride is racist" Nobody! There is NOTHING wrong with Splash Mountain and if the NAACP was OK with it, why would anybody else have a problem with it?
There were no stereotypes in the original. Only the retheme had that like the salt dome which references real slavery, and the original had none of it.

I did not use the triggering language you did. I specifically said "stereotypes" & "fwd looking" It was an older attraction looking backwards, in their estimation, and they wanted something for the next 50yrs.
I have ZERO interest in discussing the interpretative elements of Splash.
Looks like the budget went to retheme and not operational and maintenance
Something definitely seems to have gone wrong with the operations of the ride - it’s all very strange.
@@TheNobleWayI Heard it was because they didn’t bother to do maintenance on the actual ride system during the re theme. Most likely because they wanted to do it on the cheap.
Also now that construction is going to start soon on the avengers e ticket here at California adventure, I worry that it could end up turning out bad as bad as the Tiana re theme.
@dayoldbread1696 ah yeah, that would make sense. Crazy to me that with it being down all that time they wouldn’t invest in upgrading the actual ride system…
@@TheNobleWay yeah same here! Although I won’t lie, past Disney I would never expect that to happen because they were almost always on top of things like that. But with modern Disney sadly I can’t say I’m too surprised. They only care about merchandise sales not good guest experience. They are also more arrogant and greedy than ever, so that’s why we have seen such a decline in terms of them keeping up with ride maintenance.
Hopefully whoever is ceo next will attempt to return Disney to its former glory. And Like I said hopefully that avengers e ticket we are getting soon at California adventure doesn’t turn out this bad 😂
The difference is universal is listening to customers where Disney is telling the customers what they want
There's a reason why the original Splash Mountain animatronics were made with hydraulic parts.
Having advanced electric animatronics susceptible to heat and weather conditions, in a placed known for having issues with moisture and hot weather, was kinda of a bad idea.
Yes. Should have kept it as splash, and given her own ride on Tom sawyer island or beyond big thunder mtn
Some are questioning if they used the wrong animatronics for that ride.

The new lights at the "weirdly" shaped planter in the center of Epcot are also broken after a short time. Disney is on a role.

Disney has been taking a step back for sure. Universal is just so easy to do and less of a mission.
Definitely agree. Feels like everything at Disney has gotten harder (or more annoying) and everything at Universal has gotten easier (and better).
I was ready to get all over your case. But once again, as a new subscriber, I kept watching and man… I gotta say I feel exactly what you are saying!!
First, I was able to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the first day of Passholder previews. Barely. It broke down for HOURS after a very very delayed opening. I got group 40 and boarded at 5pm. Halfway through the ride stopped due to inclement weather. Fortunately it started up again and I finished the ride. And honestly… it was great! A total improvement and best animatronics to date. So I’m sorry you haven’t ridden. It’s fun and you’ll love it.
Also. Port Orleans Royal guest rooms are some of our favorites too. 😂
That said, when you talked about how die hard fans are losing faith in Disney… YES! I’m a super fan. But I’m tired of the let downs. I’m tired of things taking forever and nothing coming out as promised. Cherry Tree Lane? Play Pavilion? World CelebrationTerrace? And I’m tired of the increasingly unavoidable sense that everything Disney is related to “the bottom line.” Getting nickel and dimed everywhere. Things getting cut for budget reasons. Things scaling back from what is promised. Perks being dropped. Costs skyrocketing. It’s clear… Disney is focusing on $$$ and living in fear of losing it. And thus losing its way as a company.
Meanwhile I look at universal. And they seem to be like.. “hey. Let’s innovate. Let’s invent. Let’s be immersive. Let’s be as creative as we need to no matter the cost. Let’s focus on the experience we can create.” And that is EXACTLY what Disney used to be!!!

The ride was down for like almost 1.5 years for the re-theme. They should have overhauled the entire track and ride system and fix the 30 year old ride. I am expecting a Tiana refurbishment announcement where the ride will be down for 6 to 8 months to "FIX" the 30 year old ride.
I hope the electric animatronics are weather rated for the hot humid cement building. The previous animatronics were "sealed" weather proof and had pneumatic movement. One of the Tiana animatronics already had the shirt sleeve slip exposing the metal arm. Hopefully the moisture and swamp water Biolife forms do not get inside the figure and damage the electric systems which was not a problem with the old pneumatic animatronics.

My long-time CM veterans still working at the Park, says there are far worse problems going on at attractions throughout both Parks in So Cal. Worked there 25 years and have old log books detailing the daily issues at Space, Matterhorn, and thunder in the 80s to 2005 when Tom Tancredi ran Attractions Ops. Even then, eiger, pressly, Harris, and that twink twirl I can't recall it's name, even then they skipped everywhere! I am told by those still in attractions management that the park is falling apart and held together with the thinnest of fixes. Always pinching the pennies while fleecing the public. And then, you have the Ejacolyte and lesbian space witches. Deisney is nothing but a pile of garbage now and few of us are proud to say we worked there.

Look, I didn't want Tiana's Bayou Adventure to replace Splash Mountain any more than you did. I wasn't thrilled that Disney's only attraction based on African-American folklore was being erased. But I don't think the new ride is that bad. It's pretty decent with some flaws. And it's not the only new Disney attraction that has broken down a lot after its initial opening.
I haven’t gotten to ride it yet, this was really only about the disappointment in Disney opening the ride before it was ready.

First off like most people are saying she should have gotten her own ride, but if you were going to replace splash Mountain with her, at least make the ride based off the movie not this brand new story that people don’t know., The fact that there is no standby line and they are forcing people to either get in the virtual queue or Pay for a lightning lane for a ride that people could just stand in line to ride previously is insulting and it’s another reason why people are not going to Disney anymore that is the ultimate example of nickel and diming your customers

You ranted about how long it takes Disney to build stuff now compared to other major projects in Orlando. I'll pose a question:
If you fire some of you best talent (imaginers) causing many others to become uncomfortable and leave on their own. And many now work with USO, what do you think will have to each companies ability to work on projects? It's simple math. 2+2=4
I heard Disney is constantly suing their contractors and this is what is delaying everything. I’m not sure if the lawsuits are about shoddy work or what🤷🏾♀️Been working with contractors for at least 15 years now and you can’t always accept the LOWEST bid. They ALWAYS, and I mean always request change orders until your cost end up double the original proposal. Not only that, I’m sure they tried to retrofit all the animatronics to save money💵 It just ain’t gon work, Bra🙂↔️
I'm with your views but Disney is very disappointed me over the past 5 years. Take EPCOT, which is a favorite of mine, but I will not go back there until they get rid of the nighttime fireworks show, it sucks.

The only bugs they have to fix is put the original Splash Mountain back where it belongs. The retheme was a failure as predicted.

Please write attraction is an abomination of explosion trash, a major disrespect to as black people in the community, poor beautiful princess Tiana deserves something way better than this racist slave salt mine theme mountain ...they should yes left the original ride alone and update the technology etc.. there's so many slave mine pun signages through the queue line that's just insanely offensive .so many black slaves died in vein working to death in horrendous dangerous conditions in the mines deep underground .. Tiana deserves her own land with a brand new ride building that has original story and a new story along with it. Along with lots of places to eat ,dance singing , meet Tiana and her friends and create new memories for all the world to enjoy and cherish on forever ❤❤❤ 🐸🤴👸🐸⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️✨✨✨✨

I think it was only down Friday/Saturday due to weather/lightning.
I missed my preview and didn’t get a virtual Queue on opening day either. I have watched videos of the ride and it looks fun. Like all the Music. I am a long time Disney fan. I think they will fix the issues. Rise of the Resistance was a much bigger blunder when they opened it up. Having to be in the park at 7am to try and get a virtual queue. It still has a lot of downtime and they have not fixed the cannons. Guardians, Tron and new Fantasyland are amazing! Hopefully AK expansion will be as well 😎😁

@jppurple98 supposedly it was open today! We didn’t see it on the app but people there told us it was open! Tomorrow is supposed to be the official reopening! 👍🏼
