Cradily is weird, but in the right situation, it is extremely hard to kill. Rock and grass cancel out six of each others weaknesses, which means despite both having 5 weaknesses and 4 resistances individually, Cradily itself only has 4 weaknesses and 2 resistances total. Even better for it, it has rock type moves to threaten bug and ice type pokemon, and grass type moves to threaten water pokemon with ice coverage. Steel is a relatively weak offensive typing which is rarely used as coverage, so it really just needs team support with fighting and steel types. Perhaps one of my favorite things about it is how it takes two of the absolute weakest defensive types and combines them to make a solid dual type which, as you said, is very difficult to deal with for a surprising amount of Pokémon. Meteor Beam literally gave Cradily a huge boost in power in Gen 8. It's still niche in VGC, but now Cradily have a fighting chance against Gastrodon because of Meteor Beam and the Meta favoring Cradily than Gastro. Cradily best Fossil.
Weird fact about Cradily: Cradily is the longest Pokemon name that ciphers with Caesar Cipher, Atbash Cipher, or a mixture of the two called "Atbash plus Caesar" Cipher into a word. No Pokemon names encipher into another Pokemon name though. Cradily ciphers into "julidan" with applied Atbash cipher then a Caesar cipher shift of 12. The only other 5-letter and longer ones that do are Golem which becomes "murks" with a Caesar cipher of 6, Hoopa which become "leeds" with an Atbash cipher then a Caesar cipher of 19, Luxio which becomes "Durga" (the name of an Indian god) with an Atbash cipher then a Caesar cipher of 15, Ditto which becomes "jetty" with an Atbash cipher then a Caesar cipher of 13, Regice which becomes "recage" with an Atbash cipher then a Caesar cipher of 9, and Wooloo which becomes "gooroo" with a Atbash cipher than a Caesar cipher of 3.
Before Tyrantrum and its Rock Head + STAB Head Smash, Cradily was my favorite fossil. It's just so sturdy, and unlike Bastiodon, has some offense and isn't 4x weak to Fighting and Ground. Once it got Storm Drain, this fossil wall was my favorite counter against Rain teams, absorbing powerful Rain-boosted STAB Hydro Pumps and Waterfalls, boosting itself in the process, then smacking back with a suddenly devastating Giga Drain.
I still remember using her in my first competitive team back in generation 4. It was an horrible set, with stockpile, but it was so fun when it worked, seeing my opponent struggling to break an unbreakable wall, while falling to passive damage.
No joke, Cradily can be a power trip. Very few teams before gen 8 can reliably pressure a team built around storm drain Cradily. I’ve had Cradily at +4 SpA by turn two while it’s spamming ancient powers. Very very very scary.
Would make sense to ask of that. Carnivine is a flying Venus Flytrap, Cradily is like the Sea Anemone the looks like a Venus Flytrap. I forgot what that Sea Anemone is called.
@@HatKidTime Exactly and that's why Carnivine is bad, in every gen but gen 4 Leafeon was in the same tier as Carnivine and so completely outclassed it.
Back in its debut, I remember people having trouble figuring out its weaknesses. But starting in Gen 4, Ice and Fighting became very common offensive types. And Bug types getting stronger in Gen 5 didn’t help it either.
It's by no means the best at anything it can do, but it's a surprisingly effective bulky toolbox that can fill a good dozen or so stall and/or support functions. There's most likely something better for whatever you have in mind, but it's extremely unpredictable and - especially if you're running a mono-Grass or mono-Rock team, it can be an invaluable member of the team within the right team comp. It also has like 10 ways of recovering health. If one wanted to torture their opponent, a bulky Cradily with Pain Split, Giga Drain, Ingrain/Rest, and Toxic/Stockpile/Barrier/Curse/Sandstorm/Gastro Acid/Recover (to name just a few options) with Leftovers is entirely possible and pretty easy to make.
try a max hp max sp def set with leftovers and suction cups moveset: curse, amnesia, rest, rock tomb i had teams centered around cradily for both gen7 OU and monotype and this thing is great once you remove fighting, ground, and steel types with teammates

He sti hasnt finished the typing analysis videos (only ice so far) or in depth looks into each gens meta. But your right little cup would be uber interesting
They've already done remakes of Scizor and one other mon, can't remember who, so this will probably never end. But I've always had a massive interest on LC, it's a crazy offensive meta.
I remember the good old times playing XY RU. This fellow here was one of my defensive backbones, alongside Rotom. Storm Drain and a surprise Earth Power did wonders when the goal was to open holes for the rest of the team! My absolute favorite fossil to this day :)
Cradily. An uncommon Pokémon with a weird typing that left you wondering what it’s weaknesses were. It’s a Rock-type that wasn’t weak to Water, Grass, or Ground. And a Grass-Type that isn’t weak to Fire, Flying, or Poison.
Because I like this Pokémon, I've practically drilled its weaknesses into my head. Bug, Fighting, Ice, Steel. I'm never going to let them slip my mind.

I am not surprised you missed a Cradily result in early vgc13: or maybe I should say: a LILEEP result. Wolfe Glick used eviolite Lileep alongside a trick room team with Slowking and various surf mons to boost the unkillable Lileep until it unhironically did serious damage. That team was gimmicky and eventually wolfe dropped it, but it was nice and I think he won a regional with it, or something like that. However, I couldn't find the vods about it anymore. We all know that vgc was not very well documented back then... by the way, the main reason Wolfe decided to build a Lileep team as a whole, was that storm drain Lileep had just been released, and there was a slight hype

@@Cold-Blooded-Jay In that case, I take it you've seen your fair share of 1HKO and Double Team abuse in there.
Also Brightpowder, Lax Incense, King's Rock, Focus Band, and all those fun items that only CPU fighters can take advantage of. Fun stuff to deal with.
@@cradiculous I have seen it all. The Double Team rubbish is why I put Aerial Ace on my Choice Band Metagross.
Just want to say that I really have enjoyed these weekly videos. One of the things I look forward to every Sunday! Keep up the great work FSG.

Twice in one day! Thanks for the great videos, Kellen and Team!

Cant deny that Cradily looks freaking awesome and the typing fits it incredibly well
I remember young me finally discovering what synergy was when I first put T-tar and Cradily on the same team. With recover, toxic and rock slide the battle frontier suddenly got a little bit easier
Those first few times my teams started to synergize was like drugs
Daaaamn, False Swipe! Back at it again with the Double-Upload!
Cradily is my favorite fossil mon so seeing it actually do good makes me happy
The Double Upload Is Absolute Love My Guy!!!
Meteor Beam literally gave Cradily a huge boost in power in Gen 8. It's still niche in VGC, but now Cradily have a fighting chance against Gastrodon because of Meteor Beam and the Meta favoring Cradily than Gastro. Cradily best Fossil.
Double upload, nice.
Also I hope next week we either do butterfree, arbok or fartfetch
Cradily is literally half my team on my grass monotype, bc it does such good special fire tanking and has rocks
Grass type thats not weak to fire blast? And can return hit fire mons? Lemme in~
That same thing applies to Flying too.
Armaldo: Prepare for trouble!
Cradily:
I hope no one responds
And make it double !

Dis is sum gen 3 fossils inquisition right here
Before Tyrantrum and its Rock Head + STAB Head Smash, Cradily was my favorite fossil.
Yes GODDAMMIT, thank you so much for doing this pokemon!!! Keep these old ones coming baby!!!!
Okay, now do Carnivine, everyone’s favorite plant.
Cause it's a venus flytrap that's badass
It would make for a great filler video, nice and short
You know things are bad when your outclassed by Leafeon.
Two videos in a day? Full restore is a Distortion of a drug.
That do be a Rocky plant

PSA: GF has finally blessed Cradily with Leech Seed with The Crown Tundra.
Cradily be like : MY EYES ARE DOWN THERE
I’ve been waiting for this episode for so long, love cradily so much💖
Back in its debut, I remember people having trouble figuring out its weaknesses. But starting in Gen 4, Ice and Fighting became very common offensive types. And Bug types getting stronger in Gen 5 didn’t help it either.
Nice to see the pair covered back to back
Double upload?! Nani?!
Hey false swipe I have an idea for a series where you go over a pokemon move or ablitty and how it affected the meta forever
mAh pre-historic plant fossil, CRADILY! I had so much fun with stall sets back in gen 3. XD
We : steven are you rock or steel type trainer?
Steven : YES
I ought to reconsider Cradily with what it can do, because for a long time, I didn't pay too much attention to it.
If one wanted to torture their opponent, a bulky Cradily with Pain Split, Giga Drain, Ingrain/Rest, and Toxic/Stockpile/Barrier/Curse/Sandstorm/Gastro Acid/Recover (to name just a few options) with Leftovers is entirely possible and pretty easy to make.
try a max hp max sp def set with leftovers and suction cups
moveset: curse, amnesia, rest, rock tomb
i had teams centered around cradily for both gen7 OU and monotype and this thing is great once you remove fighting, ground, and steel types with teammates
I still using stokpile cradily in 2021, since gen 4. Amazing. Cradily and shuckle are two impredictable pokemon I use in OU, and works.
I've always thought the dots in the dark spot were teeth... especially while I was playing Pokemon Platinum.
Yeah, it's cuter than I thought.
This is just like the time Pete ness was in competitive pokemon
Now imagine: Mega Cradily with regenerator.
do NOT
YES PLEASE!
^^Lmao there are two kinds of people in the world^^
LOL
With leech seed
Didn't Realized Until NOW some parts of the video's voice clips are slightly acoustic
For a long time I thought his actual eyes below were his teeth and the dark space his mouth
You should make a series where you review items competitive viabilities over the years like how good was leftovers actually or choice spec etc
Out of curiosity, let’s say you hypothetically do a video on all fully evolved Pokemon at some point and a new generation isn’t coming out in a year or two from the release date of that video. Would you just take a break, start doing some Little Cup vids, do some untiered vids? 🤔
He sti hasnt finished the typing analysis videos (only ice so far) or in depth looks into each gens meta. But your right little cup would be uber interesting
ルベンパウル Oh true! I completely forgot about that series tbh. That’d be a nice way to hold things over 👍
They've already done remakes of Scizor and one other mon, can't remember who, so this will probably never end.
Maybe that's a hot take, but I think Cradily could really flourish in a Dynamax meta!
You're just biased because you're also a large plant-looking creature that eats stuff. Don't think I can't tell.
Reddragonair 3 it has huge special defense good typing and dynamax makes you even better as a tank
Both STAB Max Moves really mesh with Cradily's style. Setting up Grassy Terrain and Sandstorm are both quite beneficial.
Unironically one of my favorite fossils. I just love little alien looking pokemon.
(If you couldn't tell from my profile pic lol)

Yes. But despite that, it was sadly never OU. Check it on the smogon website and you'lle see. Although It's my favorite Electric type.
double upload with the gen 3 fossils? awesome
Cradily's typing is amazing and so unique!
For some reason gliscor actually dying to a toxic orb is strangely hilarious
Sadly cradily went extinct in the higher tiers.
I've never been too fond of Cradily but man do I like its typing. I wish more Pokemon got it.
next, u should do braviary or archeops
As well as their counterparts Mandibuzz and Carracosta respectively
Still can’t wait to find out exactly how GOOD DEOXYS is ACTUALLY 🧬
