And, yes, it was a monumental day. Congratulations on all of the progress to date. It’s truly mind-blowing. What you are doing is monumental, Dan. There is a sense that the Chateau sighs in relief at certain points. When all the debris and trees were removed revealing that beautiful, tiled floor. When the first floor went in. The second. The third. Now, if you would only wear one of the safety harnesses Nick gave you, we could all breathe sighs of relief too. If Nick, the man who climbs trees taller than the Chateau, who hangs on ropes meters in the air while handling chainsaws thought you should wear safety harnesses, I bow to his expertise. And caring.

Dan, once again, another great video! You know I always put my 2 cents in because I am soon to be a Septuagenarian. An even greater thing you can do for yourself is to learn the wonderful art of knot-tying. I suggest starting with Scouting knots. Use the easiest such as a bowline or a clove hitch or possibly a taut-line hitch. There are many! After that, get into sailor knots which are more complicated! Using these knots and simple pulleys you won't have to waste your energy in raising your materials into the top of the chateau. The knots you will learn will be forever ingrained in your memory. Great work! Keep it up sir!

Dan refers to this as top of the chateau but that's must be relative (to other sections) and not entirely accurate. In that part of the chateau, the turret, he's on the second floor putting in floor joist for the third but there are two floors above and then the six floor spire on the turret. Progress regardless but plenty of more to go. I wish Dan would provide a 3D diagram as this would encourage more patreons (in my mind)

The devil's in the details, and Dan doesnt help by not posting more historical pictures. It took me some time studying the pictures on patreon and then the TH-cam community tab, and I think I've figured out floors of the various sections (4) but not necessary the various rooms. Two historical pictures show the chateau from the south and another from the south west (clearly showing the south entrance and west entrance). These have a single stairway from the ground. The north section has 2 stairways from the ground. The south view picture shows the south section (with one stair from the outside) having 3 floors that are masonry and the fourth is a masard roof, thereby wood construction. And that's the one with the famous arch standing by itself. In the same picture behind the south section is much taller north section. The north section is the one Dan uses to come and go and it has 2 stairways and two entrances. The north section has a masonry 4th floor then the masard roof section (5th floor) that goes into a spire. The top of the spire is like a windows peak and is the 6th floor. I havent seen a historical picture from the north or north view. There is one north view of the chataeu when Dan bought it and you can see what left of the masonry fourth floor. Given that the french love mansard roofs and they are wooden the fire has destroyed the top flor of each section. By the way, the west section is where the solar panels are and the east section is where Dan is working on and has yet to get the steel beams in floor of the third floor. That the third floor has a half wall of masory topped by granite (Dan's famous balance act to take out trees) which is the base for the mansard roof. I wish there was a north view historical picture to clearly figure out the fifth floor mansard and the spire on top of it. I've guessed the top of the spire has access. Maybe I'm wrong. Obviously I'm a big fan of the channel. Cheers

@@boydtucker9786 I am a big fan too. If you google Chateau de Chaumont Mainsat, you will find more historical photos. According to Google Maps the side with to stairs is facing north-east, so Dan is working on the north-west wing. But first he did one third of the middle section (in the hallway) and you can see at 8:20 he got one more floor further up than he has done on the north-west wing. Sorry my english and maybe I am wrong too. Have a nice day.

Metal has a decent recycling value. It can be melted down and recast. You cannot recast a beam from left over wood.
And before you talk about things like fiber board. Let me tell you that recasting metal changes no properties of the metal. Making a beam from sawdust glued together is not going to be a proper beam
