I'm trying to extend the length of a thread but the first pass cuts almost to full depth and busts my insert as soon as it gets to the uncut part of the bolt, is there any way around this? Adding to the number of passes doesn't change it from going near the bottom of the thread.

Try changing to a custom thread using the options window. This will allow you to lesson the depth. After you cut it, you can change it back. Adding more cuts or changing to depth of cut should help as well. T.P.

How would you retrace left handed threads instead of right?
