It's wonderful to see large arrangements in the summer when plants with large flowers are available in home gardens.

It is bad to put leaves in the water. Why does the big leaf go in water?
That's an excellent question, KJ! Hard leaves like ti leaves and aspidistra are fine in the water and they will last a long time with out breaking down. Putting the ti leaf in the design has two objectives: one, it adds interest and visual weight to the design and two, it hides some of the stems in the arrangement. This is one of our favorite floral designs, Alison! Who would want a large vase arrangement with tropicals? Everyone would. It's big, bold, and vibrant with about 25 blooms in it, and it mixes both tropical and temperate stems together for a lovely effect.
