- I came to trim a beech hedge about 50m long - a job I do every year for a regular client of mine, however the beech grows very quickly.
A few years ago I shot a video at this location and I had to do a radical pruning of this hedge, cutting about a meter off the sides as the hedge had become very overgrown, but unfortunately that video was lost so I shot a new one.
I started the pruning with a Stihl HSA86, first cutting off the sides, then using a ladder to trim the top, and lightly shaping the four globular tuias which resemble green 'lollipops on a stick'. I then did some light pruning of a green hedge of not very tall thuas about 15m long and finally trimmed a hedge of blue cypress, although this was not really necessary as the owners regularly did this work themselves. When all the hedges were trimmed, I set about cleaning up, raking everything with rakes and pitchforks and packing it all into green bags.
I offered to help my neighbors every time to trim the hedge opposite, but they never agreed, so this time I left it overgrown.
The whole job took me five hours.
My husband and I laugh about what our hedges would look like if we did this job. You are truly an artiste. We are in awe of the work you do!!!

I think Kustorez must have arms of steel. I've been trying to trim my English Laurel like he does for over a year and it's exhausting and it never looks as good as his, but I'm still trying. I feel for you girl, but let's keep trying. Watching from Oregon, USA.

If you want to cut a nice level hedge top as a beginner, just lay a long length of wood along the top and run your hedge trimmer along it! “ simples” 😁

Oh yeah! I’d be extremely satisfied too! You are an artist when it comes to hedge trimming. Here in Charleston SC USA we have all kinds of thorny vines, muscadine grape, Virginia creeper invading our hedges that grow faster than the hedge! Once a year won’t get it.

You are an excellent trimmer, and make it look so easy ! The client should consider at a minimum of every 6 months -- every 3 months would be better. That is a LOT of overgrowth to allow.

Today I watched your episode in superhero mode - twice the speed :-). I'm fascinated by your technique for sweeping up the green waste efficiently, then...yikes! Where did the bike suddenly come from? It's also great how you cut nettles with hedge trimmers 😂- learned something new again. The hornbeam hedge is so beautiful. It's really fun to see how good it looks after cutting. The lollipops from Tuja are a fun idea. The owners have a sense of humor. All in all, a great and entertaining episode!

It seems to me that you get really good topiary cut hedges when they have grown quite a bit, before they are trimmed.
People pay good money to have their hedges and bushes trimmed topiary perfect here. And you ARE the Topiary Master !!

You do lovely work, and film it well. I cut some of my hedge today, and it is not straight.. I tried a ladder to take the top, but the trimmer extention is so damn heavy! Cant walk now :-) Or hold my pad watching this..

Most people in Germany where Kustorez and I live prefer their privacy,so they have hedges instead of a fence.Its a natural barrier to the neighbours.And a lot of people Kustorez is working for are often unable to maintain their property by themselves as they might be too old or sick or other circumstances happened.
Usually every owner takes care of his own property but sometimes it gets out of control.
Plus for the hedges we have laws when to cut and when to leave them alone cos of birds building nests and other animals raising their brood.

Greetings, I have noticed such a pattern that when people build a house and plant such hedges and other shrubs, they think that they can maintain them for a long time, but over time they realize that it is not so easy and need to either do this work independently or hire someone!
