    Thank you. This was very helpful. We are from the US and we are traveling to Zermatt after a wedding in Italy. I wanted to make sure I buy the right ticket to go from Zermatt to Zurich airport. I think know but I’m new to the Switzerland train system.

    Hi I would like to thank you for this information presented in this video. I have been using a half fare card which I think is good value even in some cases when I visit for less than a month. However I was unaware of the saver day pass. I have in the past just bought a day pass for either 75 or 127 francs. Because my upcoming trip only starts in June I logged on the SBB and have bought three day passes at a greatly reduced rate. Now of course I must travel on those days but I can plan my days knowing I am getting excellent value. So once again many thanks

    • @Italianabroad
      @Italianabroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As much as you can! If you buy a saving ticket the price is much cheaper if you buy it in advance but you have to stick to that train and time that you selected, so you cannot change your mind!

    Thank you for such a detailed video. For international travelers, if a swiss pass is not taken, then will there be any problems in buying tickets at the train stations?

    • @Italianabroad
      @Italianabroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy the tickets at the train station, you will have just the full price tickets, no reduction tickets or special tickets.

    Wow! Very informative video. Thank u! A lot of information to take in but definitely well explained. May I ask for your recommendation on what tickets to get from SBB on the following itinerary: (within 4days)
    1. Milan-Zermatt
    2. Zermatt- Sunegga
    3. Zermatt- GornergrAt
    4. Zermatt- Leukerbad
    5. Zermatt- Zurich
    6. Zurich- Munich
    Thank u in advance ❣️

    • @Italianabroad
      @Italianabroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should probably buy Milano to Zermatt on the Italian Trenitalia website, as well as the train Zurich - Munich in the German Deutsche Bahn website, they are for sure cheaper, if not the only possibility to buy them. The rest I am not sure, I have never been to Zermatt so you should check the prices for each journey and check if a 4 days Swiss Travel pass is cheaper!

    • @themamalog2606
      @themamalog2606 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your response. What about in Italy? Do you have a similar Pass for unlimited train travel within Italy? (Rome & Venice at least) - just like the Swiss travel pass in Switzerland land. Coz we will be staying in Milan too for 4 days and I’m wondering what’s thee best and cheapest way to get around. My must places to visit would be Rome and Venice. :)

      I’m sorry but I don’t know about Italy, I normally buy the tickets separate! I am sure there is some sort of Interrail ticket or something similar!

    I am lost with so many options, please could you suggest on ticket/pass to get and from where -
    My stay is booked in Brienz.
    My intinery is
    Day 1 - Zurich Airport to Brienz (Interlaken)
    Day 2 - around Interlaken, Wengen, Launterbrunen or Grindelwald
    Day 3 - Elgelberg, Mount Titlis
    Day 4 - Brienz to Zurich Airport
    Option1 - I am getting the Savers Day pass from sbb app of 52CHF for each of the 4 days which I believe covers all the public transport. This comes to 52×4 = 208CHF plus the 96CHF for cable from Engelberg to Mount Titlis.
    Total 304CHF.
    Option 2 - The Swiss pass for 4 days plus the 50% discount on Mount titlis cable comes to a total of 281+48= 330CHF.
    Am I missing any benefits of Swiss pass (I am not covering any museums in my trip). Would you suggest going ahead with Option 1 or 2?
    I am thinking of Option 1 as I think the 2 passes work for similar benefits & after adding the cable ride too if turns cheaper. Appreciate your thought.
    Thank you so much

    • @Italianabroad
      @Italianabroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main difference is that the price of the Swiss Travel Pass is fixed, so you can buy it whenever you want. The Saver Day Pass needs to be bought in advance so that the price is chf 52.- which means that when you buy it, it might not be chf 52 but more. Otherwise if you are not going to museums it’s definitely better the Swiss Day Pass (which however does not offer discount on mountain trains).

      As Tirano is in Italy, please check with the personnel at the train station. Normally you can do this only within Switzerland, not when you cross the border.

    Can u please help me on a question about the train. I am trying to start planning a trip for next year - if i’m getting the half card but also want to get the “top of europe” card for Jungfraujoch does it matter which one i get? I plan to stay in Lauterbrunnen but it looks like that top of europe pass doesn’t go to interlaken or grindelwald? Also, can I add my bf and I’s card one my phone / app together or does he need to do it himself?

      As for the last question I honestly don’t know. Normally when you buy a ticket on the app you can add more passengers, but with passes I never tried. I don’t think you can buy passes on the app, except for the day pass. I think you need to buy on the website and then you get the tickets by email or it might be that you can buy it on the website but then you have to pick up the ticket personally.

    • @Italianabroad
      @Italianabroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sooner the better! Some tickets are always available, some are limited. For example, a normal train ticket within Switzerland can be bought in the same day. But if you want to find a saving ticket, you have to book it in advance (I would say a week) because they have limited availability.
