Compelling!! The colors, snow, sepia tones are well done!!! Antagonistic plays one note throughout. He needs to be effected by the protagonist as she proves that she knows cards, no matter how he tries to foil her. That is the way the dramatic tension and the stakes can escalate.
I’ve worked many low/no budget, non-union small films like this one and can tell you firsthand what a struggle it is to get one of these made and published for public view. Most of them are extremely low budget, most expenses paid out-of-pocket by the persons whose vision it was, actors and crew usually working for free and most often just weekends as everyone has a day job or school. Props, locations and costumes are whatever is available for least cost. Music and some general scenery shots may be rented from an online library, the set/stage where interiors are shot might be on a stage at the local community college or in someone’s basement. I worked on a 16 minute horror film that was shot entirely in the producer’s garage. SO GIVE THESE FOLKS A BREAK for crying out loud. Stop nitpicking just so y’all can show us how observant you are. These are films made by folks who truly love filmmaking. When it comes down to it, it’s still about the story idea, not the miscellaneous mistakes that were bound to happen. The story told here was excellent.
I am very proud of this film. Lots of sweat, blood and tears went into this...and a lot of honest creativity and genuine depth of expression. Thanks for speaking up!
What a great movie and enjoyed the twist at the end of the movie. Hopefully maybe you can get the financing and do something again as good as this thank you.
Many thanks, amigo. It's tough to get traction with an indie film, so I'm glad to know people like you are watching and enjoying this, as much as they are. The west will never die...
You tube recently started offering me a bunch of these short films, usually western themed. This is by far the best in both how much thought it requires of me and in the filming itself.
Amazing job! The accent does not matter as the film still evoked catharsis. 10/10 will recommend. This deserves to be a series or perhaps full length film!
I don’t understand you people who criticise these things, they’re free to watch, they’re as good or better than some stuff you pay for, they’re short and direct… You talk about accents, sheesh, seriously, My one tiny critique as it were, would be the cello was too loud during the table interaction……
I'm a girl in the UK who loves western's. I have not been into short films all that long but the more I watch them the more I love them. This short film is fantastic, full of suspense, acting was great, music intrigued me and left me wanting to hear more. Charlotte was brilliant. Very well done guys absolutely loved it ☺x
Lilith (/ˈlɪlɪθ/; Hebrew: לִילִית Lîlîṯ) is a figure in Jewish mythology, developed earliest in the Babylonian Talmud (3rd to 5th century AD). Lilith is often envisioned as a dangerous demon of the night, who is sexually wanton, and who steals babies in the darkness.[1] Lilith may be linked in part to a historically earlier class of female demons (lilītu) in ancient Mesopotamian religion, found in cuneiform texts of Sumer, the Akkadian Empire, Assyria, and Babylonia.
If you like "Lilith", I have two published western novels: "Sipping Whiskey in a Shallow Grave" and "Hard to Quit" (Milford House Press/Sunbury Press). I am writing a third right now... www.mittenmark.com Thanks for the support!
I liked this short film, Colorado for sure, good acting, really good period correctness, well maybe not sure about the knit sweater, but very high quality, loved it.

Still holds its own, 👍 charlotte! Lilith? Read some comments shed some light I guess 🤷♂️ but never ever heard of a Lilith being Adams 1st wife 🙄 so that was perplexing but a good watch nonetheless! Also perplexing are some comments but them sad sacs show up everywhere 🤦♂️ prettier actress? Bad acting, not a proper southern draw! 😳 lol etc!!! Slow-crawl start, but 3 years in, we're baring down on 200,000 views. I GREATLY appreciate everyone who has watched this film. I'm proud of it, and glad to share it with the world. Given the general competitiveness of the film festival circuit, it barely made a dent when we first released it, in 2010. It only screened at a couple places, so this is a fantastic way to reach an audience. Enjoy and share, my friends.
Liked this- Biblical references often appear in speeches or themes in Westerns, this one had an actual Biblical Mythical person in it - even though the accent was a bit over the top, really Liked Mark Mitten, the hunting Lt. - hope to see him in other projects
Turn the caption option on, and read what she says. It was sad, poetic, romantic and haunting all at once. Makes me thirsty for a whiskey, with a tear in my eye.
They didn't make those kinds of sweaters back in those days! Looks like a brand from J.C. Penny's or Marshall's! great story and acting, Need more of these short-films dedicated to the art of film making!!
Good eye, Dixon. The cable knit style was originally designed in the UK in the early 1900s, and marketed in the US in the 1950s--a maritime/sea-farer motif. LILITH takes place around 1864, during the Civil War era. Like all things indie, we had a tight budget to work with, thus the sub-par sweater choice. Overall, I am glad you liked the film. Thanks!
Very well done piece. Great atmosphere and setting. The story reminded me of the work of Ambrose Bierce. Thanks for sharing it. Best of luck in the future.
KifaruRed I thought the SAME THING regarding Bierce!! I love his work and have read it all. I would actually love to see more of his short war stories in action. So good. Funny to have had the same but rare thought!
