    This is wonderful. It looks like he's in a good place, especially compared to 5-10 years ago. Great interview

    God bless Daniel Johnston. In spite of everything, he was compelled for whatever reason to put something beautiful into the world, and he has.

    Im not a holy man, but i do believe certain people are placed on earth just to do some heart healing. This guy was an angel.

      The tremors he had back then were probably a side-effect from the anti-psychotic medication he was using at the time. Since then the pharmaceutical companies have developed antipsychotics with less side-effects.

      @@AneTorine96as years go by they will keep getting better. Daniel was born in that Goldilocks window between the trans orbital Lobotomy and the present, improved meds.

    Tipped me out that he mentioned Dylan. He's usually just militantly Beatles. He seems to have been doing really well mentally in his last year's great guy

    The interviewer should consider not talking to him like a 5-year old. He's mentally ill not stupid.

      Yeah, that really rubbed me the wrong way as well. I'm bipolar as well and it makes me sad and angry when people assume those who have it are intellectually mpaired or something

      I think he was just trying to be nice, I don’t think he thought Daniel is stupid it’s just that Daniel is different and deserves more kindness and consideration then those of us who have a hardened shell

  • @cherylmarie5477

    I’m pretty sure that Daniel is just trying to be nice, he’s not a fan of mainstream artists but he doesn’t want to tell anybody that or why lol the Beatles are truly the only main stream artists that compare to himself, and as self-absorbed as Daniel was he truly was the best songwriter ever, because he’s only one person and his body of work is almost as impressive as the Beatles which were 4 geniuses

    I don't wanna sound insensitive but how come his speech is slurred and he seems half-there. I know that he has bipolar disorder but I'm unsure how that would contribute to his voice. Or is that just how he speaks?

    • @JustAnotherWillowTree
      @JustAnotherWillowTree 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Narciscynic He takes a medication to control his schizophrenia which affects his motor skills. Idk he doesn't speak like this in other interviews

    • @WeAreTheInsurgents
      @WeAreTheInsurgents 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I've seen other interviews and it almost looks like he has Parkinson's disease due to tremors. It's mad how medication that's supposed to help has such adverse side effects. I guess it's a small price to pay for something as brutal as schizophrenia. I once read that when in a two-seated plane with his father, he hallucinated that he saw Casper the ghost and threw the aeroplane keys out of the window so his father had to crash land the plane. Not sure if that's entirely true but I guess the side effects of the medication could be considered a small setback.

      @mooney003 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Narciscynic That's true. In the documentary "The Devil and Daniel Johnston," his father tells this story.
