I recently spoke to a guy who said he owned one of these. He told me not to get one because it was only 5gears. And it was very loud on the highway compared to his buddies with 6gears. What is your opinion?
All Vulcan 2000s have a 5 speed gearbox…and it pulls hard in every gear. Stock exhaust is not loud. I have a Vance&Hines exhaust and it’s louder than stock, but it’s definitely not as loud as a Harley. If you WOT it can be loud, but if you’re just cruising it’s really nice. I can talk to my girl on the back without a problem. - Nick.
@@GRADGRAD-jq9nk I had that argued at me because I wanted a old 88ci heritage. I got mixed answers from guys about it so I tried it out thanks to my uncle down south who has a harley 103 bored up that has a five speed and a new 117 that has a 6th gear. They both now have the same displacement now but I did like the sixth gear for the Texas highways. It cut down on a little bit of noise. But I did notice what I feel like was a short fifth gear versus the five speed. My uncle said to him the sixth gear is only useful when he's got his wife on the back and their going multiple states and want to talk to each other. The five speed he uses on solo trips and when she rides her sportster. I'm found out pretty quick I don't have new harley money so I'm pretty much stuck with a five speed. These large displacement bikes shouldn't have a issue with high rpms at interstate speeds. That's why I'm looking at them too

The further away I rode the more I felt like that demon on my shoulder was telling me to turn around you can’t do this. So I cracked the throttle harder the more I felt that… I rode through several states threw a hurricane and that bike was screaming the whole way. I’ll never forget it… When I finally reached Florida it’s like the weather completely cleared and I made it through

I think what he was saying was it revved loud compared to the bikes with 6th gear. I couldn’t see it with a bike of that size.

Hey man! 35 to 40 mpg with a 5.2gal tank. 150 to 175 per tank.

My 2004 bounces on the rev limiter at 140mph. Don’t know if the speedometer is accurate at that speed though?
You don't think it should have a 6 speed ?
I mean, it can already top out at 150MPH.
