I dunno, I always enjoyed her personality. Sure, she can be summarized by the phrase "confident thrill junkie", but if she really existed, I would love to give myself the opportunity to speak to her. And just like her personality, playing her (at least in UMvC3) is really, really fun.
Seeing her and the whole DS cast getting slapped in crossovers is not nearly enough. Capcom, for the love of god, you have to move forward if you want to survive. Please, no more re-releasing old Darkstalkers games, just create a completely new one and your beloved profits will appear.

I honestly like her for more than her appearance. yes that is pleasing but that's not really why I like her. I personally like how she is less on the side of consuming the life energy of men though sexual acts, and she's more playful, seeking challenge, and is confident in her skills. not to mention I like her fighting style, plus she has a relatable feeling of wanting to be free until she can't do it any longer. hey if I were in her shoes, i'd be looking for someone to fight and the like too, at least until i'm old and grey. but I could be in the minority on this one.

Jonathan Parham I only knew her from mvc as well, including Felicia in mvc2. I never even knew about Darkstalkers until recently when i decided to know more about Morrigan. When i started watching Darkstalkers games online, i realized how many characters in mvc2 came from Darkstalkers. Anyway, she's my personal favorite female capcom character and you know why ;-)

Personally, I would argue that Demiti is the protagonist while Morrigan is more of the poster girl for Darkstalkers, although she is far more popular, he has a bigger role than she does story-wise. In the first 2 games, he's the one who hosted the fighting tournament in his attempt to rule Makai, AND he's the one who killed Pyron by consuming him. She does play a bigger role in Vampire Savior (mostly because of Lillith's involvement with Jedah and Demitri's goal to challenge her), but I still argue Demitri's is bigger when he's in the Majigen to challenge her and Jedah to rule Makai, while Morrigan is interested more in looking for excitement, as usual. Regardless of who it is though, I highly doubt that's why Capcom gives her more attention when Felicia also appears in more crossover games, even though her purpose in all 3 games is fairly minimal story-wise. Donovan and Jedah also have much bigger roles in their respective games, yet they don't get featured nearly as much. Really, I think Capcom uses Morrigan more because of her sex appeal and more unique moveset than anything. Also, just because he's evil doesn't mean he can't be the protagonist, you seem to be a bit confused on the actual definition of protagonist (no offense): The lead character of a movie, game, book, or some other form of media, it doesn't have anything to do with a character's alignment. Invader ZIM features an alien who wants to take over Earth and eliminate his human adversary, Dib; yet Zim is the protagonist because in most of the episodes (sometimes we follow Dib instead) the audience follows him in his misadventures to do so. There's nothing stopping a villain from being a protagonist, its just more common to have a protagonist be a hero or an anti-hero at worst.

What appears to me is that Capcom has trouble working with evil protagonists because they don't know what to do to them or how to market them. Good or Evil, a good protagonist need for us to related ourselves to them, and is a bit hard for us to related with Demitri, unless we are power hungry ourselves. Some people would, for example, related to Light Yagami from Death Note, and his urge to clean the world from criminals. I believe no matter how evil a protagonist is, the viewer need to relate with them for a good enjoyment.
Funkermonster the difference though is that Invader Zim while the villain he is actually FUNNY. Using a person who is malicious and bloodthirsty and evil as a protagonist is downright absurd. They need to be a role model and relate to people

For a long time I thought SHE was the protagonist of Darkstalkers, it wasn't until the retrospective that I learned that it was Demitri.
Love her fighting style and special moves. Her looks and Scottish accent works well with her origins.
