Nice shots. Keen beans coming south without snorkels and surviving! Next time try booking up with some local clubs to access even more remote spots look forward to the next trip.
Nice one Jono! This is my stomping ground not far from where i live. I fang through there on our mx bikes often. Takes about 20 mins to 1/2 hour on them. It changes all the time and is massively different coming out of every winter. Love it out there!
Yeah i don’t bother with anything other than my mx bike until after the road trust do their post winter maintenance/repairs. There is a donation box at the pub to help towards their cost. The local council dont want to know about the maintenance of it so its left up to the locals. One thing thats is worth mentioning too is that the road is not officially closed over winter as its a public paper road bout the whanga road trust doesn’t encourage its use by 4wd’s due to the extra damage they do in the wet conditions. If anybody gets stuck and needs help over this time none of the locals are likely to give them a hand.
Hi Jono, Great to see some content back up on your page. I discovered your channel whilst in hospital last year with appendicitis, and between yours and overland NZ has definitely been the motivation for me to work towards getting a 4wd and doing some exploring around nz. Still not quite there yet but whilst i'm getting the funds together (and the clearance from the missus) I look forward to each video to keep me motivated! Chur!
Awesome to hear Sam! It's wicked to hear that my content can drive so many New Zealanders to get out and explore this amazing backyard. I hope you have a rapid recovery and most definitely hope you get the clearance. The overland lifestyle is an addictive one but also extremely rewarding one. There is still a few more North Island videos to come to stay tuned for more mate! Thanks for the comment and hope to see you out there!
Hey Jono, only discovered your page a few weeks ago. I don't own a 4WD, have never been 4WDriving, but I have actually really enjoyed watching your videos to my surprise!!! :D I love travelling NZ, but obviously have never been off road, it been great to see what it is like. I'm taking a Skippers Canyon day trip with Nomad Safaris in a few weeks (when I come over from Aussie) which I have heard is epic. Cheers!
Having never spent much time up North and being from the South I took a guess, good to know for next time though! I apologies for the hacking of the language though
Would you happen to know who did build the bridges? And yes, North Island names are a bit more of a mouth full than south. Didn't think i would have to research how to say things but least i know for next time now.
@@lostsheepadventures Bruce cowie was heavely involved with sourcing the bridge beams think they may have come from kapuni gas anyways he got egmont 4 x4 involved but no Army soldiers did the work and put them up, alot of time and effort on his part also through tread lightly and Andy cockcroft Wellington I do have a video somewhere Of the opening day
Yay!- I thought we had lost ya. Ill miss the jeep though.....
Wicked video mate, fantastic editing! Always love your content

Sometimes is easier to go straight to the winch. Great content mate.

@@auskiwi8116 Sorry mate! away on other work. You'll be out with one of our guides who i'm sure will spin a good yarn about me haha
Bummer lol. No worries lol. Watched your Macetown video the other day, thinking when I come over next time I will have to do that one! 😉👍

Do u still have ur c33? Remember seeing u cruising round in akaroa
Very regretfully sold it years ago for probably what you could buy a stock roller for now haha really wish i hadn't.
good run just chuck the nissan away and get a bighorn
Whangamomoana is pronounced with a wh (as in why) not f. Local Maori dialect doesn't have the f .
Having never spent much time up North and being from the South I took a guess, good to know for next time though! I apologies for the hacking of the language though
@@lostsheepadventures no need to apologize even most maori would get it wrong
The o is more of a harder sound like “oar” than the sound in “owe” I’m Māori who uses the “wh” not the “w”. Bit of linguistic trivia lol
Hey mate the council did not build those new bridges and and also work on your pronounceation shocking, but otherwise a good vid on my local track

Oh bloody awesome then and dam good effort by those guys. Huge thanks to them for doing the work as its an awesome road to venture through.
Whangamomona is pronounced Farnamoremorena 👍🏾
Ha ha! you need to learn how to use a real tool!.. cool vid👍
I see 4wd's have made a huge mess of the place again.
