Just to help you out understand a bit more about kpop. Kpop mostly refers to the industry, and the songs are usually inspired by different genres. It's not unusual for some songs to fuse other genres as kpop tend to be a bit more experimental with production.

I guess kpop *is* kind of like a dramatic version of the groups we know from the west. It’s like a bite-sized Broadway musical with the set designs, concepts, makeup, clothes, dancing, and singing. I have a lot of fun with it because of the spectacles and the frequent genre fusion. I find myself constantly anticipating new music to find out what they’ll try/do next. Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 They are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
dreamcatcher is probably the kpop group you have the most chances of liking since they do rock influenced songs sometimes. I'd say their 'heaviest' songs are chase me, good night, endless night, and maybe odd eye(this one might be softer but its really really good)

Great talented group (though underrated especially in Korea itself). They are more of jrock/metal influenced for their title tracks, but their Bsides have different genres. Kpop is a combination of different genres fused together to create something unique. Most Kpop idols have to train and be selected specifically to debut in a group. So these Kpop idols have to meet an exceptional level of beauty, singing, and dancing. That's basically it but there's so much more that goes into these Kpop groups and a lot of investments. Dreamcatcher is quite different from other groups, as you will find out if you listen to other Kpop groups. Until now, they are the only group that not only has the main concept is Dark and Creepy vibe, but also has Rock vibe in their songs. Well you've started your Dreamcatcher reactions with the popiest A-Side song that this group ever made. And they did this on purpose. They are actually a group that produces dark Pop-Rock and Pop-Metal songs. This seemingly happy song is one of the creepiest songs this side of Hotel California. But people can't tell from the beginning. Everything is hidden away and you see only what they want you to see. What you just watched is part of a project that includes video and cinematography, music and lyrics, dance and choreography and uses each of them individually to show different parts of the whole puzzle. The whole picture is obscured, hidden in plain sight and you need to do some detective work to figure things out. First of all, this MV is based on Jordan Peele's film "Us". The story is about Evil Doppelgangers who murder and replace the originals, to become them. The BE character tells us why. Because they don't want to be sad. It's a story about obsession, insanity and murder. I won't bother you with toooo much detail, but you're supposed to follow the crumbs and see beyond the obvious. For example, we can see clearly only one murder and the Doppelganger standing there. But you know there should be more. The rest are hidden in the lyrics, hidden in plain sight between sweet "I love you's". The pre-chorus goes "It's blue, blue. Your face is like the Ocean View". There are other lines like "forever love. Forever mine. Everything, even your breath. Forever mine." Or "BE-cause I love you, I am saying with an angelic face". As the second rap sections says: "it's so creepy! That's right! There are even some Psycho bathroom scene violins in it, seconds before. That's right, another murder! And wait! Don't eat that apple, offered to you by your creepy Doppelganger, Snowwhite! Oh no! Moreover, Dreamcatcher is world famous as being a group of incredible, top class dancers, who inspire fans and other K-Pop artists with their dancing. Part of the story is hidden (in plain sight) in the BEcause Dance MV choreography. Parts of that are shown here. An example, the red hair chokes the dark hair girl from inside the mirror in the beginning, while the chain of girls form the wall. This is straight out of "Us", and the girls holding hands are "the Teathered" on that film. Another murder, hidden in plain sight. I believe you get the pattern. And the last example. In the lobby scene, we see the blonde bellgirl carrying some clothes. If you watch closely, you'll notice that they are clothes they the people who were being chased or murdered were wearing... The hourglass turns and we know that everyone on the room in the beginning is actually an evil Shadow (a Doppelganger). They are all so weird. The next victims are coming. Welcome to Deathtrap Hotel! Are you staying forever? There are at least a dozen other clues, like who are the figures under the dark shrouds. But I'll leave it here. I'll just say that this song is part of the sweetest mini album called "Summer Holidays". This by itself is unsettling, because this group doesn't do sweet on their A-Sides. And there, in the middle of some of the sweetest melodies this group has ever made (a first), lies this song, hidden in plain sight. It's like a creepy summer horror movie you watch with your friends. A guilty pleasure. Well, these girls went to watch "Us" together. They really enjoyed it and made a creepy song about it. But they hid everything in plain sight, to make it fun.
Honestly dreamcatcher have their own sound. Their music is completely different from kpop yeah u can say it's kpop but it's nothing like other bands songs. I REALLY hope u guys check out their dystopia trilogy. It's a 3 part story: scream, Boca, odd eye.

this is the amazing thing about dremcatcher they have so many genres and styles mix with some jrock and metalk and always fin a wat to mix it with some pop, edm, synth, classical, and sometimes even abit reggea. they always come up with a fresh beat but they are mostly know for that rock style and dark creppy horror theme music videos
Kpop is like a genre-blend music industry, it is not really a genre. But because they are blending genre so much, it is actually like an amusement park for musician. You will always find something new musically, and learn from it. The largest music producer nowadays have gone to Kpop industry to produce their music especially when they want to try something new

And this sets them apart from the other general K-pop girl groups, which, do have their own signature concepts to distinguish the different K-pop groups. Dreamcatcher is really different than anything else in kpop and I think there are definitely songs of theirs that go harder and you'll like more! Breaking Out, Endless Night, What, Good Night, and Scream are much more rock/metal based. Scream is the start of a series that's followed by Boca and Odd Eye, which are more of a genre mix. Red Sun is also a great more gothic song of theirs.
This song is a summer special, so this is actually not as hard as their normal stuff. You can still hear their rock elements though. This is about a love turned possessive, this video is also inspired by the movie, ‘Us.” So you see doppelgängers of some of the members through the video. If you want to hear a more rock influenced sound, I highly recommend their normal releases and special clips, What, Piri, Scream, Boca, You and I, Break the Wall, Sahara, Red Sun, Deja Vu, etc. they’re all top notch. Their Japanese releases are also typically much harder, going into metal. Endless Night, No More, Don’t Light My Fire, Eclipse are all bangers. If you want their music that touches different genres, I suggest, Wonderland, Jazz Bar, Into the Frozen, Sleepwalking, July 7th, Whistle, Poison Love, R.o.S.E Blue, a lot of others. If you ever want to give them a new chance I recommend Deja Vu. Their early songs also more rock, Chase Me and Good Night. Their japanese tracks also more rock, No more, Don't Light my Fire, Eclipse. Some of their b-sides also more rock, Breaj the Wall, Sahara. Wake up, Mayday.

BEcause is a bit more on the pop-side of their repertoire. Scream, BOCA, You and I, and Deja Vu are more along the rock/metal genre, but all of their songs blend genres to a certain degree. This is kpop, but not like most kpop. The rock aspects are pretty much unique to them. Few artists experiment beyond the standard pop/edm/hiphop genres. Dreamcatcher also wrestles with darker themes not often found in the kpop industry, such as obsession, betrayal, bullying, and abusive relationships. A dreamcatcher is meant to collect bad dreams, so their themes are often nightmarish. I think you might actually enjoy some of their stuff. Give Scream a try. If you don't like Scream, Dreamcatcher is a pass.
This is a rather weird starting point into Kpop. Kpop while called "pop" it's really a mixtures of sounds and genres unique to each group, it could have edm, hip hop, reggae and it's still consider Kpop. That aside Dreamcatcher is consider to be rathe unique because they incorporate Rock and Metal sounds into their music, which the genre is not popular in Korea. It's a group that's much more popular oversea's, they're very much underrated. I would love for ya'll to check out more of their music Their Dystopia series really gained them more popularity. So guys, Dreamcatcher is one of kind so this is not the best intro.into KPOP. KPOP is fusion genre but Dreamcatcher is the only group that blends in more rock. And the complex arrangements really set the apart from most other pop groups. Their recent MV releases all tell stories that the captions never quite fully capture. Reading the translations do seem like unconnected lines sometimes. You can checkout some of their harder rock stuff like Good Night, Endless Night, and No More. Their first two songs, Chase Me and Good Night are both straight up rock. They have since added in a lot of hip hop, EDM, and other styles. I'm pretty sure you'll grow to like it.
This one for me took 2 listens before I started to fit it into their ... sound, if you can call it that, because it was quite a bit less specifically heavy -but I understand why they went that way for this release and I hope it brings in more new listeners froma wider audience. They use genres like an instrument itself, within most of their songs. That can be offputting at first, but if you can spare the time to give it a coupe listens it is a fun ride. Very tough thing to actually keep track of the subbed lyrics, their voices, the music and its structure, the blast in the face their videos give you, and on top of all that decipher a plot. They're a cinematic group with the music videos. Kinda floors me how much I miss even after 5+ viewings. If you like mystery and puzzles, it's an added bonus with them -they also don't spell it out much in an official capacity, so that lets people run wild with the storylines. But there is significance in each shot, plus most of the choreography, the genre used, the coloring, and lyrics. So yeah if ya like rabbit holes... Aside from all that, I just like their tapestry of genres and the transitions between them. Their covers also do what a cover should, by putting their uniquely recognizable spin on it. If you're curious about those, or other songs, they're kinda split between 3 channels: "Dreamcatcher official", "Happyface Entertainment", and "Pony Canyon" (JPN publisher).

Kpop is not a genre, it is an umbrella term for what it consists of: dancing, singing, rapping, the visuals, the Korean language, etc. It can consist of the use of many genres including rock, ballads, edm, pop, hip hop, etc. This is why kpop mixes all kinds of sounds and do to the popularity of mixing certain of those genres together, it has a certain feel to it. Dreamcatcher are rather unique since not many kpop groups actually use rock that often, they stick to more pop, edm, or hip hop sounds. So no, this is not what most kpop sounds like. The word 'Kpop' is more referring to the industry, it's like Kpop = Korean idol music industry, so it's not really a name of genre, bcs Kpop groups do many different genres, but yes most of them are really like to do mixed genre, but not all group has rock/metal influence like Dreamcatcher, if you want to try more Kpop groups with rock/metal influence I have some recommendations for you 1. Hello! May I recommend "Piri" or "Endless Night" by Dreamcatcher? I love this song personally, but don't feel it really gives a good look as to Dreamcatcher's sound. "Boca" and "Chase Me" are good songs that I would also say are more typical of Dreamcatcher (heavier, less poppy, and darker visuals)
Kpop isn't really a genre in the usual sense of the word. There isn't really a cohesive sound to "kpop" like there is for rock, jazz or other genres of music. As far as dreamcatcher goes, their songs usually are a fusion of rock and some other genre but they also experiment with a wide variety of genres outside of that. For some more heavy rock influenced songs I'd suggest these: Endless night, No More, Don't light my fire (these are closer to metal music) Mayday, Tension, Break the Wall, Curse of the Spider, Sahara, New days, Chase me, Goodnight (these are more of what I would usually consider rock) For some more variety there's these which are some of my personal favourites, all very different sounding from each other: July 7th, Jazz Bar, In the Frozen, Whistle, Wind Blows, Red Sun, And there was no one left

you can't really talk about what KPOP sounds like because it includes pretty much every kind of music. This group is a kind of horror themed music. This song seems to be about doing horrible things to someone because you love them. Whatever music you like you can find in K=POP.

I guess kpop *is* kind of like a dramatic version of the groups we know from the west. It’s like a bite-sized Broadway musical with the set designs, concepts, makeup, clothes, dancing, and singing. Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
They are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done.
About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you".
The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
dreamcatcher is probably the kpop group you have the most chances of liking since they do rock influenced songs sometimes. I'd say their 'heaviest' songs are chase me, good night, endless night, and maybe odd eye(this one might be softer but its really really good)

Great talented group (though underrated especially in Korea itself). They are more of jrock/metal influenced for their title tracks, but their Bsides have different genres.

Well you've started your Dreamcatcher reactions with the popiest A-Side song that this group ever made. And they did this on purpose. They are actually a group that produces dark Pop-Rock and Pop-Metal songs.
This seemingly happy song is one of the creepiest songs this side of Hotel California. But people can't tell from the beginning. Everything is hidden away and you see only what they want you to see.
What you just watched is part of a project that includes video and cinematography, music and lyrics, dance and choreography and uses each of them individually to show different parts of the whole puzzle. The whole picture is obscured, hidden in plain sight and you need to do some detective work to figure things out.
First of all, this MV is based on Jordan Peele's film "Us". The story is about Evil Doppelgangers who murder and replace the originals, to become them. The BE character tells us why. Because they don't want to be sad. It's a story about obsession, insanity and murder.
I won't bother you with toooo much detail, but you're supposed to follow the crumbs and see beyond the obvious. For example, we can see clearly only one murder and the Doppelganger standing there. But you know there should be more. The rest are hidden in the lyrics, hidden in plain sight between sweet "I love you's". The pre-chorus goes "It's blue, blue. Your face is like the Ocean View". There are other lines like "forever love. Forever mine. Everything, even your breath. Forever mine." Or "BE-cause I love you, I am saying with an angelic face". As the second rap sections says: "it's so creepy! That's right! There are even some Psycho bathroom scene violins in it, seconds before. That's right, another murder! And wait! Don't eat that apple, offered to you by your creepy Doppelganger, Snowwhite! Oh no!
Moreover, Dreamcatcher is world famous as being a group of incredible, top class dancers, who inspire fans and other K-Pop artists with their dancing. Part of the story is hidden (in plain sight) in the BEcause Dance MV choreography. Parts of that are shown here. An example, the red hair chokes the dark hair girl from inside the mirror in the beginning, while the chain of girls form the wall. This is straight out of "Us", and the girls holding hands are "the Teathered" on that film. Another murder, hidden in plain sight. I believe you get the pattern.
And the last example. In the lobby scene, we see the blonde bellgirl carrying some clothes. If you watch closely, you'll notice that they are clothes they the people who were being chased or murdered were wearing... The hourglass turns and we know that everyone on the room in the beginning is actually an evil Shadow (a Doppelganger). They are all so weird. The next victims are coming. Welcome to Deathtrap Hotel! Are you staying forever?
There are at least a dozen other clues, like who are the figures under the dark shrouds. But I'll leave it here.
I'll just say that this song is part of the sweetest mini album called "Summer Holidays". This by itself is unsettling, because this group doesn't do sweet on their A-Sides. And there, in the middle of some of the sweetest melodies this group has ever made (a first), lies this song, hidden in plain sight. It's like a creepy summer horror movie you watch with your friends. A guilty pleasure. Well, these girls went to watch "Us" together. They really enjoyed it and made a creepy song about it. But they hid everything in plain sight, to make it fun.

Kpop is like a genre-blend music industry, it is not really a genre. But because they are blending genre so much, it is actually like an amusement park for musician. You will always find something new musically, and learn from it. The largest music producer nowadays have gone to Kpop industry to produce their music especially when they want to try something new

Dreamcatcher (DC/Deukae) is an unique 7 member girl group which, as far as I know, is the only K-pop group which *CONSISTENTLY* infuse rock/metal instrumentals within *ALL* their *TITLE TRACKS* into the pop sounds, which have become their signature sound. And this sets them apart from the other general K-pop girl groups, which, do have their own signature concepts to distinguish the different K-pop groups.
While their earlier title releases have rock/metal influences throughout the songs, their later releases have evolved into different genres blending & becoming dominant, while still inserting the rock/metal sounds in chorus/pre-chorus.

Dreamcatcher is really different than anything else in kpop and I think there are definitely songs of theirs that go harder and you'll like more! Breaking Out, Endless Night, What, Good Night, and Scream are much more rock/metal based. Scream is the start of a series that's followed by Boca and Odd Eye, which are more of a genre mix. Red Sun is also a great more gothic song of theirs.

If you want to hear a more rock influenced sound, I highly recommend their normal releases and special clips, What, Piri, Scream, Boca, You and I, Break the Wall, Sahara, Red Sun, Deja Vu, etc. they’re all top notch.
Their Japanese releases are also typically much harder, going into metal. Endless Night, No More, Don’t Light My Fire, Eclipse are all bangers.
If you want their music that touches different genres, I suggest, Wonderland, Jazz Bar, Into the Frozen, Sleepwalking, July 7th, Whistle, Poison Love, R.o.S.E Blue, a lot of others.
I hope you dig into their discography a little more, it’s SO GOOD.

Dreamcatcher are unique. They are not like most K-pop groups. This is more pop, but a lot of their songs have rock vibes. You would need to listen to other songs by them.

Dreamcatcher is not your average kpop group, they are pretty unique. Kpop ia basically pop music, DC, at least in their title tracks mix pop and rock. If you ever want to give them a new chance I recommend Deja Vu. Their early songs also more rock, Chase Me and Good Night. Their japanese tracks also more rock, No more, Don't Light my Fire, Eclipse. Some of their b-sides also more rock, Breaj the Wall, Sahara. Wake up, Mayday.

BEcause is a bit more on the pop-side of their repertoire. Scream, BOCA, You and I, and Deja Vu are more along the rock/metal genre, but all of their songs blend genres to a certain degree. This is kpop, but not like most kpop. The rock aspects are pretty much unique to them. Few artists experiment beyond the standard pop/edm/hiphop genres. Dreamcatcher also wrestles with darker themes not often found in the kpop industry, such as obsession, betrayal, bullying, and abusive relationships. A dreamcatcher is meant to collect bad dreams, so their themes are often nightmarish. I think you might actually enjoy some of their stuff. Give Scream a try. If you don't like Scream, Dreamcatcher is a pass.
This is a rather weird starting point into Kpop. Kpop while called "pop" it's really a mixtures of sounds and genres unique to each group, it could have edm, hip hop, reggae and it's still consider Kpop. That aside Dreamcatcher is consider to be rathe unique because they incorporate Rock and Metal sounds into their music, which the genre is not popular in Korea. It's a group that's much more popular oversea's, they're very much underrated.

Their Dystopia series really gained them more popularity. It's consist of "Scream", "Boca" and "Odd eye"

So guys, Dreamcatcher is one of kind so this is not the best intro.into KPOP. KPOP is fusion genre but Dreamcatcher is the only group that blends in more rock. And the complex arrangements really set the apart from most other pop groups. Their recent MV releases all tell stories that the captions never quite fully capture. Reading the translations do seem like unconnected lines sometimes. You can checkout some of their harder rock stuff like Good Night, Endless Night, and No More. Their first two songs, Chase Me and Good Night are both straight up rock. They have since added in a lot of hip hop, EDM, and other styles. I'm pretty sure you'll grow to like it.
This one for me took 2 listens before I started to fit it into their ... sound, if you can call it that, because it was quite a bit less specifically heavy -but I understand why they went that way for this release and I hope it brings in more new listeners froma wider audience. They use genres like an instrument itself, within most of their songs. That can be offputting at first, but if you can spare the time to give it a coupe listens it is a fun ride. Very tough thing to actually keep track of the subbed lyrics, their voices, the music and its structure, the blast in the face their videos give you, and on top of all that decipher a plot. They're a cinematic group with the music videos. If you like mystery and puzzles, it's an added bonus with them -they also don't spell it out much in an official capacity, so that lets people run wild with the storylines. But there is significance in each shot, plus most of the choreography, the genre used, the coloring, and lyrics. So yeah if ya like rabbit holes...
Aside from all that, I just like their tapestry of genres and the transitions between them. Their covers also do what a cover should, by putting their uniquely recognizable spin on it. If you're curious about those, or other songs, they're kinda split between 3 channels: "Dreamcatcher official", "Happyface Entertainment", and "Pony Canyon" (JPN publisher).

Kpop is not a genre, it is an umbrella term for what it consists of: dancing, singing, rapping, the visuals, the Korean language, etc. It can consist of the use of many genres including rock, ballads, edm, pop, hip hop, etc. This is why kpop mixes all kinds of sounds and do to the popularity of mixing certain of those genres together, it has a certain feel to it. Dreamcatcher are rather unique since not many kpop groups actually use rock that often, they stick to more pop, edm, or hip hop sounds. So no, this is not what most kpop sounds like.

The word 'Kpop' is more referring to the industry, it's like Kpop = Korean idol music industry, so it's not really a name of genre, bcs Kpop groups do many different genres, but yes most of them are really like to do mixed genre, but not all group has rock/metal influence like Dreamcatcher, if you want to try more Kpop groups with rock/metal influence I have some recommendations for you

Hello! May I recommend "Piri" or "Endless Night" by Dreamcatcher? I love this song personally, but don't feel it really gives a good look as to Dreamcatcher's sound. "Boca" and "Chase Me" are good songs that I would also say are more typical of Dreamcatcher (heavier, less poppy, and darker visuals)

Think of kpop less as a genre of pop and more of an industry. Because the songs ranges WILDLY depending on group/theme/ and so much much more.
Kpop isn't really a genre in the usual sense of the word. There isn't really a cohesive sound to "kpop" like there is for rock, jazz or other genres of music. As far as dreamcatcher goes, their songs usually are a fusion of rock and some other genre but they also experiment with a wide variety of genres outside of that.
For some more heavy rock influenced songs I'd suggest these:
Endless night, No More, Don't light my fire (these are closer to metal music)
Mayday, Tension, Break the Wall, Curse of the Spider, Sahara, New days, Chase me, Goodnight (these are more of what I would usually consider rock)
For some more variety there's these which are some of my personal favourites, all very different sounding from each other:

you can't really talk about what KPOP sounds like because it includes pretty much every kind of music. This group is a kind of horror themed music. This song seems to be about doing horrible things to someone because you love them. Whatever music you like you can find in K=POP.
