    My first tekken was 2, and i've always had a lot of fun playing it with my brother/sister and my friends wrecking everybody usually. played a lot of tekken 3 and 4, a little bit of 5 and 6 but only with 7 i've started playing online and all of a sudden i'm hearing about safe or unsafe moves, korean back dash, juggles and shit everywhere. after 15 years or more i feel like i'm new at this game..

      Herman Toothrot Yeah man same notion, i had my reign in Tekken 3 with Paul not because of fuckin chain combos that had become some convention/requisition/compliance for game nerds since 2014/15 up till now not that i couldn't juggle/remember the movelist or shit but i happened to just execute his destructive move at the perfect time & that was called playing my friend since then i havent really been visiting arcades/consoles. I bet i would hv smoked Koreans during early years but as of now I'm not in the form or familiar with the gameplay but i could still ball bust some pro tier players in those earlier seqs even today!

      It´s just that the first impression to a lot of people who casualy play fighting games is that Tekken (or 3d fighters in general) is just button mashing because they see they pull of some cool moves by mashing (maybe beat arcade that way), once they play against somebody who actually knows how to play Tekken, they mash harder and still lose and get angry/confused, calling characters op, cheap etc. (a lot of people I personally played against) ... in MKX it´s the other way around, pretty much...it seems harder to them because merely mashing won´t give you "cool" moves...That alone means "deeper" to those people...they don´t know any important mechanics of either of those games, probably doesn´t even use basic things such as dashes or even low guard/block

      To be honest I can see that. I think the new character Katarina has a move that combo's into itself like 5 times. I can see how someone might think that.
      Its a shame he used the worst fighting game ever to compare however. Mortal kombat will die out. The gore was the succes factor back in the day, but the gore is just '' meh '' now.

    If you want to get better in Tekken as a new player here are some tips.
    A. Try as many characters as you can in practice and arcade to get a feel for them, then pick the one that you >enjoy< the most, it's important that you enjoy the character because you're going to be spending alot of time playing with them....
    B. "Spend more time in practice then in actual matches" So initially you just want to get all of your execution down (get the hard part out of the way first), like movement, character specific execution stuff, and some combos.
    C. "Only play matches for >data

      great tips tekken is by far the hardest fighter out there to learn .I'm usually OK for the most part like mk,soulcalibur but I'm complete trash in tekken I don't know the fundamentals,or matchups so I'm screwed online I must learn not only my character but everyone in the roster so I'll know what's coming .I'm definitely investing my time on tekken7 this time around time to git gud !

    Tekken is the most balanced game in fighting games in my opinion. Every character seems viable to me unlike games like smash melee and street fighter. I love how much thought goes into even the simpliest moves and the way that frame data works in this game makes everything just feel so natural. The crush system is amazing too. Most definitely the realest, teeth grinding, and gratifying fighting game out there in 2017.
    I just wish the game had some kind of way to push new players forward a little bit, like a much more interpersonal training mode, or even a level up your game style guide for every character and the universal game options that every character has.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      In any fighting game, it is purely on the player to push themselves to get to any specific level. And this requires both time and effort. I have played fighting games with with great training modes and replay features yet most of everyone still play at a low level or don't understand that when it comes to personal problem solving on how to handle situations, they can't always rely on someone else trying to tell them what to do. And that by analyzing the situation and just tooling with training mode for a few minutes, they can come up with potentially practical solutions. It just requires time and effort.

      I thought Tag 2 was good on starting out new players on the basics
      That little combot mode was pretty decent to me
      I think the REAL issue with most new players is not wanting to put in time and doing homework
      I came up in about a year after simply watching high level tourney play, studying, and getting my ass kicked and being told my mistakes in the process while learning from it
      No one wants to keep losing (which i can understand) but you have to lose and learn from the person who beat you
      If you got a good teacher and the proper resources you can excel as a newcomer

      LIL DOOP Win% means absolutely nothing and I'm actually glad they decided to only have it visible in player info menu in T7. Having your W/L and perecentage looming over your character and opponent negatively affected the psychology of online play imo...there was a tendency for a players mentality to change going into a match depending on what their opponents Win% was. Theres that, and theres also the fact that a year ago I was in green ranks with 70% wins, routinely losing to yellow ranks that had 40% wins

  • @FightersGen

    I agree with Aris about some things, many things actually... but calling Tag 2 "trash" is immature. The options that TTT2 gives players is unlike any other game, making it a truly unique experience and an excellent standalone fighting game. Why are people still making TTT2 combo videos and discovering new things? The game survived this long for a reason. I love TTT2 the same way I love MVC2... Limitless options. Fast, frantic gameplay. I use 20 characters and 10+ teams in TTT2, so it never gets old for me. Too each his own... but a Tekken community leader should not "shit on" a game that the majority of the community respects.

    • @andymrb
      @andymrb 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      to me TTT2 is the peak of the second generation of Tekken, i.e. T4-TTT2. So it's no wonder it's the hardest Tekken game to be good at because it's a mix of all the gameplay features Tekken's had since T4, plus they have almost 60 characters in the game..
      Sadly though some people don't appreciate the depth of gameplay that comes with all these stuff. Some don't get past the frustration of dealing with extra variables you have to consider like timing your ss to avoid Tag Crash around the wall.

    • @andymrb
      @andymrb 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      But again it's his opinion. He's free to dislike TTT2. Those who like the game should continue to play TTT2 and promote it, at least until T7 comes to your area.

      Fighters Generation To be honest, compared to Tekken 5:Dark Resurrection and Tekken 6, Tekken Tag 2 has been outright frustrating especially when lag gets involved. TTT2 is not a bad game, but there are so many broken elements especially when it comes to ranking matches. I've bought TTT2 in July of 2013 and looking back at my replays from that year and comparing them to the matches now, I see the improvement so Aris has a point. I had found at SoCal Regionals 2016 that Tekken 7 actually takes a little bit more time as well because some moves of characters have been changed or downgraded to fit the new mechanics.

      what makes this game trash (as a technical and patient player) is that every character has those crazy crush mid launchers and hopkicks. you dont have to read to your oppenent or play patient. just throw some hopkicks out and do 60 percent combos without much effort. and with lag even when u block it you barely get a 10f punisher. so ur oppenent can block like 5 of them and if 1 hits its so worth it.

      chiefkamachi1: I've made it a personal mission not to fall for hopkick spammers. That was in 2002 or so... and I have to say I'm still successful in that in TTT2. I'm not the greatest player in the world, but I will beat players who rely heavily on hopkicks. :) Hopkicks were never ever a "major problem" for me in TTT2. Playing 4+ years.

      Sv4 dosen´t even have a wavedash or a backdash cancel only a regular dash for back and vorwart, and the focus cancel tekken is deeper because of sidestep and crushing.

      navychief929 i thinking umvc3 is the perfect storm of that. you can destroy all ur family and friends in that game because u know a mixups and crossups but youll always ALWAYS find someone 10x higher level than u online at tourneys etc etc. if mvcI wasnt coming out i can guarentee the game would prbly still live on for another 3+years. every character is unique enough to have some sort of meta high level play that someone out there can use

      I respect intermediate/high tekken players because they actually learned how to play neutral in 3D and there is a lot more to it on the surface than you are seeing. Combine it the large amount of movesets characters have and you create different situations. Then you gotta dig into FRAME DATA to get your best buttons for punishes, or if the move has tracking. The possibilities expand along with trying to adapt to your opponent. And this applies to every character in Tekken with a different variation/focus on tools that you may like. KOF is somewhat the 2D version of this in terms of movement options and choices.

    It's kind of like League of Legends. Decent players are Gold-Platinum. To get there, you need to play at least 2 years. Only if you're very talented (map awareness, decision making etc.) you're going to reach Diamond. And if you want to get to Master or Challenger, you need to put like 3 or 2 years on top.

      TekkenToshin round 1 in San Jose ca. Round 1 is awesome! It's like a Japanese style arcade with everything from fighting games to ufo catchers, karaoke and bowling. The arcade attendants are super helpful too when the fighting games break down or need button replacements. I haven't won a single game of t7 though. So I can't unlock my treasure chest online lol.
