If that's what you believe, sure. But take this advice: don't shit on other musician's ideas. Most of the time, they're giving you good advice. All the famous musicians of today didn't get where they are by ignoring everybody's advise to them. A humble approach to music is a successful one.
Nick Reynolds And that's exactly what I'm saying. Don't listen to the purists and eltists, listen to your soul and follow that. If it feels good, do it. Never look at music as a set of instructions and rules, always view it as an extention of your heart
Before I even hit play, immediately on my mind was, "Great. Someone probably only showcasing stuff from American Idiot and after. Maybe a song or two from Dookie". Glad I was proven wrong! Very happy that you went through pretty much their entire catalog of albums. The old stuff (Insomniac and older) has so many great bass lines mixed in there, in my opinion. Thanks for not overlooking them, and great job on the video!
Mike's bass lines are what truly makes Green Day's sound in my opinion. He's the one that inspired me to start playing bass in the first place and I always love learning his stuff.
I've been coming back to this video for over 10 years. Thanks to you I no longer have to ask my friends "Hey, what's that one Green Day song that goes like bum bun nun na na na na naaa naaa naaa"
All of these (except Longview) are usually overlooked. Nice list, I would also suggest adding I Was There from 39/Smooth. Also, nicely played obviously
mike's bass licks and lines pre warning era were wonderful. really added a nice dimension to the songs which really brought the older songs together. something i miss in the later albums.
Been wanting that Fender Precision bass Mike Dirnt signature model for a while now. After seeing this demo I think I've made up my mind. Great styling and sound!
I've been listening to punk rock for over a decade. I listen to primarily hardcore, streetpunk, crust punk. What punks call "real" punk. So i don't listen to greenday. but even i have to admit Mike Dirnt knows how to write a bassline and is a very competent and creative bassist.
Who the fuk disliked this? I personal think Mike is a underrated Bassist! These baselines r great and the songs were chosen pretty much perfectly for 'best 30 Bass lines'.
Just think longview only exists because mike was tripping on lcd and made this rift but like mike said that's only half the rift but he forgot the rest

Those who say Panic Song is just one note played over and over again, the bass line is that because it is so easy yet so tense for the crowd when played live. Just like how Seven Nation Army is a simple riff yet the crowd love it!

Mike is such an underrated Bassist, did you see the structure in those bass lines? Absolute art.
Andrew J. Gibson agreed.
Except he's not that underrated, many people respect him for being such a great bassist.
Andrew J. Gibson mike is the best bassist out there
Les clay pool anyone :| now that's art
AggressionMusic +1
plot twist : this IS Mike Dirnt in disguise, his cover up, SLEEVES
haha
Impossible. Mike can't wear sleeves. They simply disappear as soon as he puts the sleeved garment on.
Lmao cuz of those veins
Then why he can’t do the Panic Song bassline
LOL
I knew Longview would be #1. Shout out to Acid for letting Mike come up with that catchy line
You have to be high to even think of that arrangement but damn it works so well

ed bezant I totally 💯 agree!!!!!
ed bezant nice profile picture. At first I thought you were me.
theres a SHIT ton of overlooked green day songs /riffs Missing you had a great bass riff
ed bezant No One Knows is one of my favorite Green Day songs, Its sad that it is ignored most of the time
It's either that or NO ONE KNOWS about it. See what I did there?
We all knew which one was gonna be #1.
DSM Studios No one knows, of course!
Autogolazzo lol nice pun 😂
Nightlife?
Didn't Billie Joe write it, though?
Damn right
Notice how much insomniac is on this. Underrated
Liam Davies not by GD fans
@@Cuzjudd I think true Green Day fans like pretty much everything :) at least I do

Koji Taka Man, what preset do you use on Ampeg Svt?
Hey, Thnak you for the answer! Do you use an Overdrive or a pedal aswell?

So glad you added make out party and stray heart! Best songs from the trilogy
Ken Miyazawa I think oh love is the best but that's just my opinion

The most underrated bassist ever. Dude transcends punk and is a master class in technique. Longview is a bass masterpiece, as far as I’m concerned.

BitterTongues84 I personally find the bass line in 21 Guns to be good but I like the bass line from the Broadway album of theirs best.
Isn't insomniac AFTER dookie though?
In all fairness, most of Mike's lines post-American Idiot are pretty simple. Not sayin that's bad, just not a lot of the stuff would make sense here

Koji Taka Panic song is mine like how is it last?????
Stray Heart licks are beautiful.

Chump is the best. You know what? No, all of them are fucking rocking!

I always liked "Redundant", even though it's slower, Mike's tone gits so perfectly.
The best part of Green Day is the bass imo. Mike Dirnt is awesome
