Hi, mine has the lead seal in place, but I think the swing arm has been modified for opening without disrupting the seal... How do you fill? And what with. I want to get mine operating, but do not want to damage in any way. I can only see you must pull out the wick?
Yes I remember you would need to pull out the wick then pour in your combustible. Someone might see this comment and give you a good suggestion of what to use.
@@retro_restorations, Tks. I was looking further on-line. Mine is slightly different model to your Type 6. Yours looks like it takes a seal in the swing arm hole. Mine uses a blind pin and a magnet to release the pin. When the swing arm is out of the way, you can see a tank fill hole beneath the swing arm. Makes sense, as you would not want to strip every time you top-up.
hello, this hole served as a sealed to prevent opening in the mine (risk of explosion of firedamp) a rivet made of lead was introduced and squeezed in a press by the "lamp man" and removed everyday for filling up the fount. It was totally forbidden to open lamps in mines that contain methane gas,. cheers
Hard to come by the unused miner lamp like this.
I have also
very beautiful!😀😀
Thank you, it really was and went to a great owner who worked in the mines :)
