The one time...and I mean, the ONE time EVER, that Andrew is in a chatty, amicable, talkative mood, the interviewer is completely vapid and asks nothing of interest whatsoever.
I'm not saying Andrew is resentful about The Mission, but... umm, nevermind. haha Also, thanks for uploading. Andrew was actually surprisingly funny and cool.
Always great to witness some Mission bashing. Eldritch wonderfully spiteful as ever. Thing is, he backed it up with The Sisterhood album (yes I know it’s not him singing) and then Floodland; while Hussey went back towards 70’s rock
Eldritch always considered himself Labour, he even said so in interviews when asked. Just because he is from Ely and well educated doesn’t mean he’s automatically a Tory, the man has too much empathy to merely follow the greedy herd.
Every video like this has someone commenting negatively on the person who did the interview. Nobody ever considers the subjects role in the equation. The interviewer actually did a good job here as did the Sisters of Mercy. Don't confuse a 30 year old presentation and interview style as being an "embarrassment of an interview" and "cringeworthy". Do some interviews yourself and let's see them on your channel for all to judge.
In the 80s in England they started alternative style interviews, not as square if you like. Example The Word with that twat Terry Christian. As a teenager then it seemed modern and new. Same with comedy shows from 70s and 80s. One show the audience walked around the interviewee in a circle, that didn't catch on, gave you headache. This was on mainstream TV, we only had 3 channels till 80s then we got Brookside.
There is a rock out there somewhere, in a boggy field, in a hideous and uncharted territory that this interviewer needs to return underneath to urgently. What a waste of oxygen on a rare occasion of Von being even approaching chatty and engaging!
For a man who doesn't suffer fools gladly, I am amazed that AE managed not to lose his rag here.
Her charisma is off the charts

Don't be a dick. Interviewer is fine.
Eldridge is such a twat, I love him so much
I agree with the first part of your sentiment but not the latter ;)

The musical talent that the Mission took with them spoke for itself

Gary Fucking King
Next question ha ha so easy to dismiss people
I didn't know Ricky Gervais was in a goth band.
show
Painful to watch where the interviewer is so jejune.
Asking questions about under wear
Andrew, a staunch Conservative has a problem with the south? Never understood that one.
I see. Well generally yeah Yorkshire seeded the gothic scene.
Staunch Conservative. Ha! Where to begin oh... never mind, so tired these days, years.... so weary!

What a complete embarrassment of an interviewer, totally cringeworthy.

If you lived through the 80s this was actually high quality.
She should have interviewed Johnny Rotten he would have given her a piece of his mind.
@@davedogge2280 Eldritch was surprisingly laid back here, he’s usually more like Lydon in interviews.
Okay, no more SoM interviews for me. I might start disliking their music.
He's very far from the level of douchebaggery of Jaz Coleman.
