- There is now a one click script to root the LG G2 whether you are on Android 4.4 Kitkat or Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has also been confirmed working on all variants.

If anyone is having installation issues where is stops at 90%. I had to change the connection to MTP not charging only or PTP and it worked like a charm!!! Thanks!!!
If you try this and the One-Click Program gets stuck at 90% while "rooting" and your phone says do not unplug while it rests at 0%.. DO NOT UNPLUG. Just do a hard reset on your phone by holding the power button. This is the only way to NOT brick the phone.

Rooting LG G2 running Android 5.0.2 with LG One Click Root -Requires - USB drivers installed and Windows PC
1. Download and install ‘LG United Mobile Drivers’ on your Windows system.
2. Download ‘LG One Click Root’ file and extract it. Then install it.
3. ‘Enable USB Debugging‘ on your phone. To do so, go to Settings > General > About phone > Software information, tap Build number seven times and then go to Settings > Developer options and turn on USB debugging.
4. Connect the phone to computer via USB cable. (Select USB mode as MTP)
To confirm your device is connected over ADB interface, open ‘Device manager’ and it should show your phone as an Android device.
5. Run LG One Click Root tool and select ‘Start‘.
When it says ‘Waiting for device…’, get back to phone home screen and select OK for ‘Allow USB debugging?’
The phone will reboot at 45% and after rebooting when it says ‘Looking for LG serial port’, go to home screen again and select OK to Allow USB debugging.
6. The device will now reboot into ‘Download mode‘ (Firmware Update)
NOTE: For some reason, the tool got stuck at 90% on computer (0% on firmware update screen on phone) and this happened couple of times. To get through this problem, just restart the phone by long pressing power key while it’s connected to the computer and process is stuck at 90%. It should then show 100% and Done!
After reboot, look for the SuperSU app which should get installed on your phone. If you don’t see SuperSU installed, then just do the whole one-click procedure again starting from step #5 and it should work.
You can install the ‘Root Checker’ app to confirm root.

Follow Up: Switched from MTP to PTP as he mentioned (no visuals) in the video annnnd Operation One-Click SUCCESS!
After completion the phone restarts and should be have SuperSU installed by the program. However, only after checking the boxes next to "trust system user" and "Enable su during boot" within the SuperSU settings menu, and restarting three times was I finally asked to "Grant" run permissions to SU.
Then I performed the Root Check (use any root-checking app) and got the green-light check mark I had been looking for...
Side Note: I made other changes like switching the prompt timeout from "10sec" to "1min", and changing logging to "Full content" rather than access only, just to make life easier to decipher.
Tips: Recommend backing up all important data like contacts, call logs, texts, and pictures before starting One-Click rooting program. You should also download a root checking app BEFORE rooting to ensure that you don't have any issues installing while your phone is in the "in-between" - before you are asked to grant root permissions after having rooted.

Big thanks for your tutorial! I tried many options and "super simple" apps but in the end I found out that all my problems because of incorrect root. Your tutorial helped me on 100% percent.

I followed this exactly the way you said it, it got to 100% and everything but when i reboot its not rooted anyway. I did this twice.

Nice Job. Had to to set my LG G2 D800 (AT&T) into 'Manual Download' mode and use PTP, but the One Click exe worked great. Off to shut eye now and maybe try the Marshmallow update tomorrow. Thanks Tim!
ok so my lg g2 verizon stopped at 90% and the phone itself says firmware update but just sits at 0%. it says do not unplug the usb until its done

Nikola Stankovic Hold the power button until the phone restarts, then it should show 100% on the pc app. You should be rooted download root checker for confirmation and supersu is already pre-installed.
UltimateSage101 in doing so the phone is not rooted.
wilson german confirmed, three hours after the root is not effective the program stops at 90%, I have one and I ls980 method does not work, if you know a new method you appreciate the help.

I'm in Australia and my LG G2 initially failed when I first tried it. After numerous attempts I gave up. Decided to try again, starting first with the cmd script method. That one failed - tried this one right after and IT WORKED!!!

This has to be the best method I've used to root a phone took less than 5 minutes. worked like a charm. WARNING DO NOT USE FREEDOM APK ON YOUR LG G2 You will screw it up and have to reset it with the rom and re root Which isnt hard but just time consuming

It didnt work on my G3 5.0 . Although it went through all the steps and One Click Root even says done! When it rebooted I cant find the supersu app. What do i do? No idea what the problem is.

Damian Lim i also had thes same problem. then i realized, that i had encrypted the phone, and maybe that was the cause. after decrypting the phone all went fine and the superSU App was available. Checked root access with titanium backup, all ok!

Anyone know what to do when it asks for you to manually put the phone into download mode and you do but it just gets stuck at 75% and says "Waiting for device..."? I have tried different ports and everything but I always gets stuck.

If you're phone's stuck on 75% try select the usb connection as LG Software. It worked for me

I was a little tiring, but when is stuck at 90% I held the power button and volume down without disconnecting the USB cable. Then it appears done. Further I acted like a film, applications ect. Thanks for much and sorry for my english :P

It's not working for me, I have a LG Spirit H420, did the same as in the video and there was no SuperSU app afterwards, checked with Root Checker Basic and it said it's not properly installed, any help?

So what happens when superSU does not install ??? I got stuck on 90% and just decided to manually reboot and it said done.. But no superSU
You can still download a root checker app and if it says that the device is rooted then simply download SuperSU from the Play Store and when you open the app, click on Grant Access so that SuperSU can use that root you just performed. Be very careful though, don't click on Deny Access.

This does *NOT* work for a T-Mobile LG G2 D801 running Lollipop. "Looking for LG serial port" times out with a registry error. This happens both under Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Hi,lg g3 5.0 here,i did the whole root no problems,BUT the root checker says my phone isnt rooted.
So just tried this I think five times and then it finally worked. Have Verizon LG G2 VS980 running *was* stock Android 5.0.2 VS98039a
+Alexander Wren How did it go the other times? Ive tried 3x, the first failed at 45%, and the next two attempts completed and finished but when i checked the root checker it said my device was unrooted
Here is what I did step by step each time
1st-Plugged in phone,made sure USB Debugging was on and set to MTP
2.Start up the LG One Click Root Program
3. Clicked start
4. Accept USB Debugging pop-up on phone (may not pop up)
5. The tool will push files to phone and then it will reboot the phone.
6. Tap the USB Icon at top informing you of your connection type and click on MTP
7. Wait
8. The USB Debugging pop may show, click ok.
9. It will reboot you into download mode after a while.
10. This is the tricky part, you can either let it go and see what it does or hold down power and restart. Either way you must repeat the process until SuperSU shows up.

DO NOT TRY THIS IF YOU STUCK ON 90% UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE:
This actually worked for me (LG G3).
Pressed "Cancel" button in LG one click root - nothing happened.
Closed LG one click root - nothing happened.
Unplugged USB cable (Pfff, who ever reads all these stupid warnings?) - nothing happened.
Removed battery - this worked, phone turned off!
Placed battery back, booted - root gained!
PS: successfully installed CM 13 after all this
What? That makes no sense. You pressed "cancel" button and nothing happened, but then you say it worked for you?
I mean nothing happened on the phone. Something was clearly wrong during the process of rooting, but after hard interrupting in such a way root was successfully installed. I'm not sure but probably I could just remove the battery instead of pressing cancel and it would have worked too, but all this is not meant to be done this way.

For some reason, I ca'nt put my Verizon LG G2 on 5.0.2 into download mode.
I hold the volume up button with the phone up, then plug it into the USB, but the phone just cycles once before booting up normally. Help!

Hi! I have tried this method w/ my D855, it finished the process but after the final reboot supersu is not installed and root checker said its not rooted...i tried manually installing super su but its just saying its no possible since my phone is not rooted!

Now my LG G2 running on stock rom lollipop 5.0.1 and performance getting slow & lag. I would like to flash custom rom. I've research that Cloudy 3.3 is good. What do you think? Last time i used custom tom was CM 13 and although performance is good but often self restart while using google camera apps. Thx a lot, i appreciate your opinions.
i actually bricked my g2 d801 running lollipop 5.0.2 and flashed it to custom rom a few hours ago. turned out great.

I've managed to get my G2 (Verizon) installed and CWM installed, but when I attempt to boot into recovery to backup the rom, I get the picture of dead Andy and the words "No Command"
I thought I read somewhere that LG unlock-proofed the boot loader in Lollipop. is this true, and if so, how do i get around it? the phone is all but unusable on 5.0.2.

tom ofek You also can uninstall bloatware like my phone got rubbish antivirus so I must root to uninstall it, plus some other applications require root in order to work.
But if you are happy with stock rom, then don't do anything.

I used this method to root my G2... did fine. I have an update now and when it reboots for the update, I get a critical error. How do I unroot so I can get my updates?
This didn't work either. I think my LGG2 is root proof. Nothing works. I've tried all the apps and supposed "one click" bullshit. They all end up failing and telling me I need to download the desktop PC version. I only have a Mac. I need to find a PC geek to help me with this.
Went just fine, rooted successfully. BUT now it's stuck on the boot screen. Any idea why? You said it might take a long time to reboot after rooting, but just how long are we talking?

Root checker says "Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device". But everything was done perfectly as described in the video.
