I successfully rooted my G3 on the official 5.0 OS which is awesome. Not sure who lied and said it was just for KitKat but thanks again. hiephoi058 how did it crack? it can't have randomly cracked on its own... i just got the phone and now im worried about all the problems with the headphone jack with this phone. some say there's a hissing noise in the left ear when listening to music while others say if you move the headphones while in use even slightly it pauses or skips the track.. mines not having any of those issues right now , but it has me paranoid!
Just an update to my previous comment. After pressing ctrl+c a few more times it allowed me to Answer with a N then after pressing enter the phone finally rebooted. Once it was up and running I checked but found no installed SuperSU application. But I did have Internet Speed Master which confirmed that I have root access because it asked for it. Nice job :)

Trome1200 mine did the same thing, just try it again, and make sure you press "always allow usb debugging mode" or something like that when the pop up comes up on your phone screen.
Trome1200 A LG serial port is the same as any other serial port that connects through windows. Any serial connection can bee seen through, 'System Tools' on your PC. Make sure to have USB debugging enabled as well. You will notice in the video 3:26 he says "I believe this is searching for download mode" no it's looking for it's communication port it's connected to through Windows. Hence right after you see, "COM41" communication port 41. It can be an COM port so yours might or might not look the same. Since you aren't seeing a COM connection insure you have debugging turned on first and have done all the steps correctly leading up to this. You can check this by looking at the COM ports in System Tools and if you see your phone connected to COM there is another issue somewhere else that needs to be addressed.
I have the Ls990 on sprint running 5.0.1 and it will not work I followed the guide to the letter and the process did complete without a hitch but the phone did not get rooted I tried 3 times and each time the process is completed but the phone does not get roooted

if anyone is having this problem (debugging being greyed out) it is the McAfee bundled in with the new lollipop update, just find the McAfee app (you can't uninstall it without root) clear the cache on it and click the manage space button and it'll ask you to put in your pin to deactivate it, after I did that my debugging is back! after that I downloaded king root apk and it was rooted

If you get stuck at the download mode screen, unplugging your phone will not do anything. Take out your battery after to restart the phone. I just restarted the root after i did that and everything worked fine.

So going to install Xposed Framework and said needed rooting. Have a problem with it. The device gets detected, it pushes the files, then it says "Rebooting..." and then "Looking for LG serial port.." The phone reboots normally and nothing more happens. I unplugged the USB cable leaving the script open. Entered download mode and plugged USB back in, but nothing happens. Any suggestions? I am using official USB cable from LG and have tried switching USB port.

I tried doing this on an Optimus L90. After rebooting into download mode it says "ROOTED" in red letters but there was no progress bar and the cmd prompt didn't show any activity. I had to pull the battery to turn off. Sadly no root but at least I'm not bricked.

I installed the updated version with the graphical UI I made a folder just like you said and extracted it to that folder and there isn't another folder in there just a programme says LG_one_Click_Root_V1.3 is that normal?

Says "Done!" but nothing changed, root wasn't successful. GUI and Script version does nothing. (On Android 5.0.1)

Go into supersu and click full unroot. If I'm not mistaken the thread for this root method even suggests doing the same.

Should I expect a 5.0.1/5.0.2 update any time soon or does my phone need to be locked on a carrier to receive this update. I got my LG G3 from Korea. How can I get 5.0.1/5.0.2 now? Is it possible or do I have to wait for my carrier?
The 2nd question is, if I apply the update over the rooted 5.0 will it brick or just erase the root and then I'll need to root it again?

I tried doing this on an Optimus L90. After rebooting into download mode it says "ROOTED" in red letters but there was no progress bar and the cmd prompt didn't show any activity. I had to pull the battery to turn off. Sadly no root but at least I'm not bricked.

I've tried both w/ and w/o GUI, no luck. Both have prompted me to manually boot to download mode, I've done that and it remains stuck at "waiting for device", I've tried different ports, different cables. I've got nothing.

I installed the updated version with the graphical UI I made a folder just like you said and extracted it to that folder and there isn't another folder in there just a programme says LG_one_Click_Root_V1.3 is that normal?
