Oh yeah, I _love_ that episode too. The make-up was _amazing_ and I loved Yvonne DeCarlo's cameo. One of my personal favorites is "The Secret", which is about an orphaned 12-yr.-old boy named Theodore getting adopted by a wealthy childless couple who at first seem perfect (if a bit eccentric) giving him an insanely huge bedroom packed with the best toys and entertainment money can buy, all the food (primarily sweets) he can eat (he was starved a bit at the orphanage) and even his own classic-British-gentleman-father-figure butler. But things get suspicious when Theodore notices his parents never take him anywhere and only interact with him during the night and most unsettling of all, he finds himself _locked_ in his room complete with bars on his windows. They're _clearly_ up to something but what could it be...

    My favorites:
Reluctant Vampire-Malcolm Mcdowell was so cute in that one. A shame there wasn't a fanfic about that one; I wanted to read about what happened next!
    The Man Who was Death
Lower Berth-That was mean how they kept Two Face locked up and beat him. The Cryptkeeper was a cute baby, though. That episode reminded me of the X-Files episode, Postmodern Prometheus, a take on The Elephant Man and the Cher movie, Mask.
Staired in horror-Teller the magician co-wrote that one. Cool episode!
    Revenge is the Nuts
You, Murderer-the one with "Humphrey Bogart" and "Alfred Hitchcock".
#2-Television terror-Gotta love Morton Downey Jr.!
The one with John Kassir and Priscilla Presley that I forgot the title. It ends with a bang, or a BOOM! I loved how The Cryptkeeper rewound the tape of the John Kassir character saying, "I'll be damned!"
The one with Demi Moore and Jeffrey Tambor?, who played a fat man and went to the electric chair at the end for killing the Demi Moore character. I think it was called, Sin Deep/Skin Deep.

"Yellow" is my favorite. It's a drama about a soldier who never wanted to join the army, but was forced to out of family tradition. The horror is replaced with suspense, and the anticipation of what's to come, and it is felt through out each scene.

Good episode, but, technically, that (a long with a couple other episodes) is part of the short-lived "Two-Fisted Tales" series and not a legitimate Crypt episode. (Notably, these episodes don't feature the same level of violence, language or sexuality as most Crypt episodes, as TFT was a network TV series.) The episodes of this show (produced by the same company and creative team) were repurposed as Crypt episodes as a cheap way to meet the season episode quota.

I can't recall if this was adapted from anything like the comic or a TV episode, but I have a distinct memory of being horribly scarred as a kid because I read a Tales from the Crypt book. The story involved a man being treated by his doctor, and during the process he reveals he likes to prank kids and one of his pranks got a kid killed. The doctor then reveals that the kid was his son, and during the operation he has given the man medication that makes him internally bleed with any sharp movement, and then straps the man into a tickle machine. Then the doctor steps back and watches as the man laughs and laughs, unable to stop... I still get chills!

One is called "Ghost Stories" from the 1990s and narrated by Rip Torn, which is just like TFTC except focuses on ghost stories (duh). There is also another one from the early 2000s called "Night Visions" which is narrated by Henry Rollins, which has more of the 2000s feel but has some solid episodes. By the bye, if you like spectacular found footage, try the 1992 BBC production "Ghostwatch." Filmed as a movie with well known newscasters, they aired it Halloween night during the news' regular time slot, so everyone viewing *thought* they were seeing the news doing a Halloween special with call-ins and an investigation of a haunted house.

The old man who gets plastic surgery to look younger for a woman and the woman goes with who the new old guy is because of his money. The fortune teller who tells a lady her husband will die soon, and her husband dies, after killing her. Here are some episodes I loved that didn't make the list
All through the house: a pretty good horror Christmas slasher episode.
Cutting cards: Two over the top characters that just hate each other and always try to best each other by any means. It's just great and over the top.
Showdown: Very underrated. An outlaw that doesn't want to accept death and gets followed by other spirits to join them.
Yellow: Probably my overall favorite. Not scary but really well written and I'm a sucker for good war stories.
The third pig: The final episode of the series. It's about the famous kids tale of the three little pigs but gory, crazy, and animated over the top action. It's frigging awesome!
Strung Along: A dummy story with a double twist. Good stuff if you love horror dummy tales.
Split personality: It stars Joe pesci pretending to be a twins in order to get wealth from twin ladies and gets more than he bargains for.

It is the one where Tim Roth plays a rock bottom painter, who ends up painting macabre pieces made of pieces of people for whom I presume to be the devil (played by William Atherton). It is similar to that Guinea Pig film "Mermaid in a Manhole".

This makes me want to see if I can find any of the old Tales from the Crypt comics. I grew up reading the horror comics my dad had collected as a kid, so this hits me right in the nostalgia.

Good selection! Maniac at large is probably at the top for me. One of my own personal favorites is the Leah Thompson episode in the first season, ‘Only Sin Deep’. Since watching this video I can’t help thinking of so many that I just love that you didn’t mention but....at the same time all the ones you picked are among my favorites also...

Fact that is probably only amusing to me - the nosy neighbour of #13 is Elizabeth Spriggs and she was one of the murder victims in the pilot of 'Midsomer Murders'. And one in a later episode, too.

Glad to see Maniac at Large on here; in my opinion, a very underrated episode. I've noticed many recent horror movies have tried to copy the twist ending, but in 90+ minutes can't build the tension & pull off the climax like this 25 minute episode.
Also surprised you didn't mention how Comes the Dawn probably inspired one of the best horror movies of the past 20 years.

so after seeing this video, I decided to start watching tales from the crypt. and while watching, put together my own list (currently on season 4).
update: after only two years, I have finally finished all of tales from the crypt! why did it take so long, you ask? well, my stupid computer disconnected from the internet one day and refuses to reconnect without an adapter (or when it dose, the signal isn't strong enough to do ANYTHING!!). so, in an attempt to fix it, I completely reset my computer. the problem being: it didn't work. and in the process, I lost the kodi app (where I was watching tales) and without internet access, I couldn't re-download it. then by the time I could, the streaming service I was using wasn't available anymore. took me months to finally find the rest of the episodes on dailymotion and here on youtube. but now that I have, I can finally complete the list!
favorites (no real order): cutting cards (fun watching the two leads clearly b.s'ing each other), the ventriloquist's dummy (mostly for bobcat), fitting punishment (absolutely agreed), the thing from the grave (overall disturbing, but oddly nice ending), undertaking palor (also agreed), korman's kalamity (wonderfully meta. almost phelous levels), the reluctant vampire (fun, likable leads and a MUCH better love story than twilight), abra cadaver (most certainly agreed on), showdown (interesting psychological story take), the secret (reminds me of "count alucard" from gallery of horror. that movie phelous did a review of), four sided triangle (keeps you guessing what's actually going on) and lower berth (very... unconventional love story to say the least, but I like both characters and it was nice to see them get a happy ending to their stories. plus, the origin of the crypt keeper).
update: king of the road (not much of a horror story, but still a very entertaining story), strung along (I honestly didn't see the twists coming. plus, I admit to having a fascination with things like puppetry and claymation, which may have influenced my opinion), as ye sow (a classic tale of irony), food for thought (great performance by ernie hudson. never thought I could hate one of his characters, but he dose a great job of playing a hateable, yet fun villain. and gives a delightfully gruesome but fitting end), well cooked hams (full of all the twists and turns you'd expect from a magic show. and it's always nice to see martin sheen [or any of the estevez's for that matter]), half way horrible (a nice little murder, revenge mystery. plus zombies, which is always a plus), whirlpool (clever twist on the groundhog day style scenario. also couldn't help but notice the references to other episodes thrown in), revenge is the nuts (the idea of an institution run by a corrupt, abusive monster is one that always drives me crazy. thinking of how long they got away with it, how many they hurt. never sits right with me. but the idea of one getting a taste of their own medicine at the hands of their victims is pure bliss), comes the dawn (once again, agreed. I promise, I'm not doing this on purpose. we just have fairly similar tastes), 99 & 44/100% pure horror (killer soap. need I say more?), fatal caper (almost felt like I was watching a game of clue. the number of backstabbings, betrayals and twist reveals made for one hell of a ride), the pit (I hate when someone tries to make someone else fight their battles for them. it is the lowest, scummiest, most cowardly form of manipulation. so seeing the manipulators being stripped of their influence and having to fight their own battles is cathartic beyond belief), you, murderer (I love a good first person perspective story. from bones, to a heist with markiplier, to ben 10 [2016], it's essentially what I love about found footage. the narration and story are engaging too. I also can't help but feel the idea of being conscious after death might be a connection to abra cadaver), confession (talk about a battle of wits. I had no clue until the end who was telling the truth. and, rest assured, I was invested to the very end) and the third pig (perhaps the most interesting telling of the three little pigs I've heard. it's also interesting seeing an animated entry not for tales from the crypt keeper. only other thing I can say is: eat your heart out, ren and stimpy!).
honorable mentions: split second (hated the two leads, but the ending was sooo worth it) and spoiled (not big on soap operas, nor do I get people who get uber invested in them and want to live that lifestyle, but again: ending's worth it. like something out of a cheesy sci-fi movie from the 60's).
update: oil's well that ends well (has all the elements of a great episode... except the characters. there was NO ONE to root for. but to reiterate a point I've made before: the ending was perfect for the characters), curiosity killed (honestly, it's tough to get through the first half. feels like being trapped in the middle of a fight between your friend and his girlfriend. but like I said about spoiled and split second, ending is absolutely perfect), let the punishment fit the crime (not my favorite, but I like the idea. strong catharsis to be found), people who live in brass hearses (good overall concept and a twist I genuinely never saw coming. however, points off for how much of a raging dick bill paxton's character is to poor brad dourif's. also, for dourif's unwarranted demise) and my brother's keeper (fumbled it right at the end. it was all going well... right until the closing moment. seeing frank become the same kind of dick as his brother is honestly what ruined it. on one hand. it's nice eddie didn't get away with his crimes and general dickishness. on the other, we're left with no one to care about at the end. I get that it's poetic irony, but still- falls flat when there's no one left to root for).
notable episodes I wanted to talk about: and all through the house (good concept, but I'm not a fan of children in peril when it comes to horror) and three's a crowd (again, good idea, but I have issues with it because of... personal experience. I once knew a guy like in the story. he was a friend. we're no longer friends. in fact, he's the only human being I've ever truly hated, for what he did to my family and me. so yeah, watching that episode made me pretty uncomfortable thinking of his psychotic outbursts and paranoid ramblings about the """truth""" that we were all against him because he dreamed that we admitted to hating him. because if you can't trust something you were told in a dream, what can you trust? also, he made some... remarks to me and my loved ones. I don't care to repeat them, but let's just say they were VERY similar to the ones made in trouble #5- which was also an uncomfortable watch for me personally).
update: operation: friendship (let's take a step back from the dark, real world stuff, to something more light hearted. it works. not one that I'd go back to very often, but it does well with the concept. weirdly though, it reminds me of my own life quite a bit. minus the dead end job and love interest. plus, *my* imaginary friend isn't a loud mouthed jerk of a pig. still though, it honestly made me double take the first time), the bribe (not much to say about the episode itself, it's overall fine. what I did want to talk about , however, is the opening with the crypt keeper. why the hell couldn't we have gotten *him* as president, instead of dump?! absolute proof that we got the worst timeline. even worse than not getting anton york), cold war (enjoyed the reveal at the end, but the amount of racist talk, abusive acts and objectifying speech towards women kind of ruined it. and by "kind of" I mean "absolutely") and kidnapper (and now back to the uncomfortably dark, real world stuff, again. it hits fairly close to home. with the way things are these days, it just serves as a reminder of all the horribleness out there).
and that's my list. now if only it hadn't taken two years to finish.
