I agree with those that say they use microfiber applicators. Been using them for dressings for almost a decade. They check off all the marks for my need. 😊😊😊
It simply works and doesn’t slime up your hands 🙌. Brushes are used at the automatic car washes in NYC since late 80s they dunk a paint brush into cheap silicone and slop it on tires causing a mess then owners wonder what the stains are on their paint panels lol
I bought the small brush from Amazon last year for 10 bucks. Love that brush. Easy to control and do those edges near the rim. The holder is nice to have to. Try it, I think you'll like it, especially on low profile tires. My truck tires I prefer the big black foam applicator. Great video on applicators and product.
Giulia Quadrifoglio NRING owner here. Have you tried the Dura-Dressing? I’m done with tire dressings now! I did a very thorough cleaning, and let the tires dry completely. Dressed the tires over a couple days and this stuff works great for me! Tires don’t attract dirt due to a sticky dressing anymore. Wash the tires just like the car finish. Touch them up every few months! You need to do a review of this product!
I was using the screw ball by Detail Factory. It didn’t sit right with me using a $30 brush to apply tire dressing. I gave it a good rinse and picked up the hex foam pad. Much better.
The applicator I like the best at least for my tires are the curved ones that are contoured to the sidewall of the tire plus the sharp edge of the applicator to prevent the product from getting onto the wheel.
I've found that solvents in some dressings can dissolve the adhesive that holds the foam to the plastic handle, especially for the cheaper curved type of applicators.
Or your hands if you try to hold the bristles with your hand. Apparently thats how they expect you to use it but not something i would do when other applicators make it easier and no mess
That is one beautiful automobile Phil. You are a lucky man to own one of the Mercedes Benz AMG GT's in that incredible "Green Beast of Hell" paint. In regards to the Obsessed Garage brush, could you simply cut about half the bristles off of that brush to try and make the bristles a little bit stiffer? Similar to what we used to do with paint brushes years ago before all these fancy brushes were available? I have always had pretty good luck with those hexagon foam pucks that have the grip on them that you show. I also have that extended lip on my sports cars tires and I hate trying to get them dressed properly and evenly although the pucks do an ok job if you turn them sideways. I've never been a fan of using a brush to put on dressing, but as you say, its a lot of personal preference. My current dressing is CarPro Darkside gel. It works pretty well and gives good durability.
I find myself using wedge shaped microfiber or wedge shaped scrub-ninja applicators depending on tire dressings. If I use Carpro Darkside, I like the scrub-ninja style, but with most others I like the microfiber. None of our vehicles have large knobs on the side of the tires, which I can see the advantages of using a brush.
Love your products! I see now you are no longer on Amazon. I wanted to get some more Mega Gloss but the shipping was pretty outrageous. Do you offer a discount code or anything?
So sad to not be able to buy the 007 Gloss Enhancer anymore on Amazon but totally understand the situation. I prefer the tire dressing applicator foam instead of the brush.
order directly and support our small business Amazon destroyed us with fraud and massive loses we were not able to continue on that path, too many scammers and bad people on that platform that hurts the business directly.
I still perfer spraying directly on tire . Right after the wash and dry process. Spray the wheel wells as well . Wipe wheel with qd . Throw my tire covers on it and go on with the detailing. Don't worry about sling because by the time I'm done they are dry .
Great video that is helpful to everyone. I use a contoured stiff foam applicator. It covers well and the edge allows me to get close to the wheel. It's almost inevitable that you get a small amount on the rim here & there. What happened to your red Giulia as this video has a white one? I loved your red one. More vibrant & shinny than the white.
this video i I used my Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce with the larger tire sidewall I still have the new Rosso Etna Giulia QV but I do not use it much these days I plan to get it out this weekend for a nice spirited drive and maybe il shoot a video.
I have a guard cut to fit the wheels on my vehicles. This prevents the tire dressing from getting on the wheels. I can use any tire dressing this way; spray, gel, or even aerosol (aerosol works best for me and seems to apply most evenly, and last the longest.
Interesting what is it made from? Issue for me i have so many cars with different wheel sizes but curiously interested to see what you came up with please email me photos
You can clean them using APC and water on occasion but I usually buy a 2-4 pack and they last quite a while. If you use any solvent based dressing that does soften and deteriorate the foam quickly
Go head over to my IG feed to see my posts but short end of it is there were thousands of scammers who basically robbed our products by using Amazon policies over the course of 3 years. We lost so much money and had no choice to put an end to this nonsense culture where theft is the new normal today with no consequences. I will do an extensive video on this for TH-cam when my head is clear but im so busy now with more important business matters
@@autofanaticcars Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! That's so messed up and I completely agree with this nonsense culture. I look forward to ALL your content and I sure appreciate all you do on this channel.
I use the cheap blue sponge from advance auto (shaped like a dog bone) cut it in half and by the time it gets to saturated it's time to throw it away and I love the mega gloss
thanks for sharing the foam ones work well and the hex ones last me quite a bit and I have many cars getting washed per week. Auto Fanatic Mega Gloss rocks even after it rains!!
Still not very effective I’ve tried that as well plus you’re gonna get hands dirty if you don’t wear a glove. Bristles too long and soft it’s a compromise.
EVERYONE…Here’s a serious detailing tip for the perfect tire dressing applicator, and it’s cheap and easy to get. Go to any big box store and buy yourself a tile grout sponge. They can be easy cut to any shape/size and they work so well for wiping on tire dressing!
@@autofanaticcars i clicked on the video only to see it was uploaded 35 seconds ago 😂 I've been watching you for 6+ years & never caught a drop so quick
Shoe polish brush works great on my mud tires an no sling after i mix three different products mix them equal parts an dude shunes like a diamond in a goats ass
The problem is that with a lot of these big brushes/sponges applicators the product goes on the edges of the rims that is the worst thing that should happen because most of the products for tyres are sticky so that makes the brake pads dust stik on the rims where the products goes...
@@autofanaticcars We are going to release a video about the tire dressing brush very soon explaining the thought that went into the design. There is some nuance to using it effectively but when you do its great.
@nicknassar9173 Hey Nick thanks for stopping over to check the video. I have tested the OG brush many ways before making this video even holding the bristles trying to cut in the tire guard edge but my hands got wrecked as a brush should not be used this way with a handle which is why I did not show or promote this technique. As an artist for 40 years I never painted on a wall or canvas holding the bristles to do detail work if you use the right style brush and bristle density. The concave edge is the shortcoming of most brushes and foam applicators for tires i feel as I highlight in the video. I also think with any applicator foam, brush or microfiber the end user really does not want to get anything on their hands or have to wear a glove all the time as some dressings can be hard to wash off your hands. I will check out the video when you guys post it.
Stick with a foam applicator. If you are concerned about getting product bleed through the foam getting on your hands, wear a pair of nitrile gloves. We all have a ton of these along with n95 maks left over from the pandemic
That brush from obsessed garage looks pretty overpriced for what it is . To me, looks like a $20 plus shipping glorified womans makeup brush. The concept seems ok but there are sooo many better options out there.
I agree with those that say they use microfiber applicators. Been using them for dressings for almost a decade. They check off all the marks for my need.

AF doing what AF does best. Agree … I’ve tried many, many applicators including brushes and default to that all black foam one.

I think the Detail Factory makes the OG brush shown
I just got one of those stubby brushes. It took AGES to work the Meguiars gel into my tyres.
The applicator I like the best at least for my tires are the curved ones that are contoured to the sidewall of the tire plus the sharp edge of the applicator to prevent the product from getting onto the wheel.
How long do they last you?
8.5" Nanoskin flagged tip tire brush with sprayable dressing is the best for me. I tried a lot of different applicators.
Thanks for sharing!
Always appreciate the product and different option reviews! I’m still using a glove and a microfiber pad…. Keep the tips coming!
The Brush King tire applicator I found to be the best.
I've found that solvents in some dressings can dissolve the adhesive that holds the foam to the plastic handle, especially for the cheaper curved type of applicators.
100% yes i still preach not to use solvent based products as many stain and turn sidewalls brown. Water based products seem more popular these days.
The OG brush lays liquid dressings on great but, as you said getting that lip is very hard without getting dressing on the wheel.

I like the hex one but in a 3" size. Perfect for low profile high performance tires. Also like them because they have rhe grip.
I bought the smaller ones twice off Amazon they came destroyed from being vacuum sealed flat. I gotta try them from a proper vendor soon
@@autofanaticcars Those are the ones I get. Takes a couple days but they always reform for me.
mine never came to shape il order some from Autogeek next time
for lower profile tires, just cut the hex grip foam applicator in half. Boom, perfect size.

I might try modifying one as im
Known to do that with brushes

Griot’s aerosol comes in different sheens, goes on easy and no mess with rags or sponges. It doesn’t attract dirt to tires or rims either.

I have tried both but the sponge is the best 👌 but with the brush I would put an elastic band around the brush make it hard for detail
Band around bristles doesn’t solve issues already tried that as many others suggested

Can you help me know where or how to get a guard made or where to buy.
For the HEX guard, how do you maintain them? Do you wash them after a certain number of uses?
You can clean them using APC and water on occasion but I usually buy a 2-4 pack and they last quite a while. If you use any solvent based dressing that does soften and deteriorate the foam quickly

You should try our Mega Gloss Tire Dressing it is full body with Sio2 not watered down like most
Put a ponytail band or rubber band on the bristles just above the handle attachment point. It will narrow and stiffen the bristles.
Band aid how about use a better designed applicator
Using an air compressor and a paint gun is the easiest way I think if you have all the tools ready.
That can be a mess if something goes wrong but can work in a production shop yes
Get a lobster claw rubber band and run it 1/2 way up the bristles on the OG brush. It'll keep a tighter nap
band aid but clever idea i prefer the Hex foam pad it is just easier to use
use a spray-made a cover for wheels when applying.
My preference is microfiber pad and wear gloves.
