Solitude has a proper social club in it too. A real boozer. Don’t miss it next time! Definitely interested in a dedicated video to Belfast Celtic. What a story that is.
Hi Sam, That was great. I particularly like the Glentoran stadium, and Newry too. Northern Ireland has produced its share of great players over the years, such as George Best, Pat Jennings and Martin O'Neill. Back in the 80s and 90s Luton and QPR had Astroturf/artificial pitches. The ball would bounce much higher than it would on grass and a sliding tackle could burn a player's leg. Is petrol any cheaper in the Republic? Looking forward to your next video.
The plastic pitches have improved since then! I have only ever been to one game on a synthetic pitch at Deepdale circa 1991, which was the last one to be removed.
I live just down the road from Drumbo Park stadium home of the once mighty Lisburn Distillery . Used to be a big team in the Irish League who now play in the third tier. Stadium is out in the countryside just outside Belfast and was once a greyhound track.
I will mention a new stand at Cliftonville FC will replace that old stand once the go-ahead comes through, plus renovation work on the other side of the ground is also on the to do list. The old house ( the cricket house ) was there from the beginning as solitude was first a cricket ground before it became a football ground.
It's a good wee ground. The Oval is definitely the best, though. I hope we get a game against you and Glens next year, having player Crusaders and Linfield this year.
The official name for that building at Solitude is 'The Whitehouse'. Some call it The Pavillion too. Don't think it's in the new plans for that side of the ground.
@@destobin4425 You could be right as all I ever knew it to be was the cricket house. I know through an uncle telling me where solitude is now was once a small cricket field compared to the bigger cricket field across the road back in the late 1800s. You could have saved yourself a journey as solitude ( Cliftonville fc ground ) is also not that far away from the Tesco store.
Spent a month working on Belfast and made it a point to visit The Oval on a number of evenings. Incredible stadium, loved it. Shame they don’t have a passionate fan base though, atmosphere was dead dead dead! Big surprise to me.
The old stand at portadown used to be the main stand, the bigger one on the other side used to be the shed end, partitioned down the middle with chain fence to separate the home and away fans, it is for the home fans now. The new wee one is now the away end and used to be terracing. They also had a stock car track around the outside of the pitch. The pitch used to be in some state because of it, ballymena had the same problem. Also good pronouncing coleraine with a little help from the radio 🤣 glenavon is said like aven not the river avon like you are saying it.

Another great vid, at the beginning of the vid you were in the Tesco car park basically 100 yards from where I live, and for the viewers in case they are wondering about what is that strange building behind you, well that is the Antrim road Police station. You can see the Police station behind the 25ft red striped corrugated security cladding. I was in the Tesco store earlier so I may have just missed you lol I told ya the chances are high me bumping into ya bud. You could have saved yourself a journey as solitude ( Cliftonville fc ground ) is also not that far away from the Tesco store.
About 100 from me too lol
@@johnnydonaghy6096 small world lol ..you reds, you reds 😉
Another great video, how about doing one of the Welsh league clubs that would be interesting.
Glad tou went to Shamrock. Love Portadown
Spent a month working on Belfast and made it a point to visit The Oval on a number of evenings. Incredible stadium, loved it. Shame they don’t have a passionate fan base though, atmosphere was dead dead dead! Big surprise to me.
Ballymena is my local. Sorry I couldn’t get in but thanks for visiting
Love the channel, Just wondering when will you be visiting the Welsh leagues?
can anyone tell me why Derry City play in the what l consider the republic of Ireland league when they are based in Northern Ireland? am l missing something?
They believe they are an Irish club and didn't want to play in the northern Irish league that's why the club is called Derry city and not London Derry
hill political then, can understand it now ,thank you,
I love your vids mate, very interesting, I love learning about the smaller clubs around the country, im a scouser lpool fan and prefer rangers over Celtic but I like the way you’re on both sides and not just one
i thought you scousers don't like the queen
Founder of Liverpool was orange order wasn’t he ?
@@ohaodhe Not all of us, the booing of the National anthem is to do with Hillsborough and not us just hating the queen
Nice video...
Can't wait to see the dedicated glentoran video.
I was at the Irish Cup Final when Carrick Rangers beat the Big Favourites, Linfield FC. I was also at the Home Cup Winners Cup Tie v Southampton. Which wasn't played at Their own Stadium (Taylors Avenue?). As it didn't meet EUFA Standards! Instead it was staged at Seaview. (Crusaders FC) in Belfast. Keep it up my Friend...O
Yes Sam 👏
Thank you for watching!!!
Really enjoying these!
Yeooo from Carrick
Crusaders have another record. On 21 August 1979 there were more than 1,900 police officers on duty for a match between Crusaders and Cliftonville, more than has ever been recorded at a football match in the United Kingdom
Amazing buddy 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great video Sam.
Nice vid as always. Good to hear u name Feyenoord Rotterdam. My local pride
Dungannon have been top flight for 20 years now we got promoted around 2000s and have stayed up
Ballymena looks class
Wasn't there some sheep pens there years ago at the back lol
When saying Ballymena say it like ballamena 👌
Used to work at inverpark, the pitch is a hybrid type,
you should do a Derry City vid as its such an interesting story. and easy to get oin to the stadium.
You should go to Cliftonville v DAC in the Europa Conference League qualifier
Great video 👍 just subscribed and hit the like.. :)
Legend thank you and welcome to the channel!!!
Go to Louth derby Dundalk vs Drogheda on Friday
