I waited one year for the Sequoia, hoping to get it and then when I sat inside it, the front seat was absolutely gorgeous. The second row was OK. The third row was miserable and the trunk space and gas mileage was a complete joke. I had to consider other manufacturers and got a diesel suburban which initially had some issues regarding the diesel system, but I know like 20 other owners of these and my community and they absolutely love them because coming from a 4runner the trunk space was great. obviously, the diesel gets really good MPG on the highway up to 29 miles and my wife doesn’t have to fill up as often as sketchy gas stations in our sketchy city and the towing capacity is greatly improved
yea a lot of people were in your position too. Waited for this and when it came out, the exterior looked great but inside and MPG was such a huge fail. Many wanted this as their big toyota family suv and it failed miserably.
Outstanding review. Most comprehensive overview of the towing features that I've seen anywhere. I recently ordered the trd off road version and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Thank you so much for the great informative presentation.
Sharp truck. However, that hybrid / battery is what kills it. The previous gen is much better from that perspective. Common thread with Toyota/Lexus new models.....previous gens are better from a longevity/performance perspective.
I had my 2024 I love it… you can’t beat the Toyota brand compare to American cars…I can’t buy a Tahoe or expedition with longevity even though the trunk in sequoia is horrible…
That cargo space is pretty disappointing. I've been debating between this, the GX, or the 4runner. Sequoia is really standing out because of the tow capacity. We have a small popup but we also keep cars until they stop running. A hardsided lite travel trailer may be in our future so we need to keep the options open. Really wish the GX was better at towing
I knew the neighborhood looked familiar as I grew up in Medford & my sister has a place in Brookline nice area up there id point out the 4wd Sequoia is likely better in the snow in that area than the minivan but to each their own
@@iloveparadyse or maybe you got lucky. I’ve found several forums with many people complaining about this issue. I have both the sequoia and tundra both limited 4x4 hybrid. The tundra does it as well but very seldom. The sequoia however is another story
@@nicoleegger4209 so there’s a vibration problem notorious in numerous tundras and sequoias. I have both the tundra and the sequoia ltd hybrid 4wd and both 2023. I took the vehicle to the dealer which escalated the issue to golf Toyota ce manager S. Pickard who told me the Toyota field technical specialist advised her the vehicle is operating normal. I'm into my third Sequoia and I love them but you want me to buy this 2023-24 version V6, less room for 80,000. With issues. Please go back and start making a Sequoia with a V8 and the same room as the 2022 version with no issues.😢😢
I want to like this truck, but I just can't. The solid rear axle compromises basically everything, and there's no reason to pick this over a Tahoe or Expedition or even the GX/Land Cruiser.
I do NOT like this SUV for a mom mobile. Every review I watch discusses the specs and it all seems good on paper. However, living w it as a mom of multiples is another story. The safety features make it impractical and frustrating.
GREAT review. You helped me go get a nice new TAHOE, loaded, for 12k less than this^^^ ... I drove them both and it wasn't even close - imho. - While i liked the Sequoia, I'll take the TAHOE over this any day.
This vehicle had so much hype after the outgoing generation ran its course and being dated. And the hype was real when the photos finally came out. It looked great! Unfortunately thats where it stops. As an SUV and for those looking to haul their family, its a COMPLETE FAIL. Nearly all--if not in fact all--competing vehicles do a much better job. The seating and interior is a huge fail. For as big as the vehicle is, it feels so tiny and cramped inside. The 2nd row sucks, 3rd row sucks. That there already makes it fail as an SUV. Of course all the Toyota lovers who are biased will say its a great driving vehicle, reliable, and front seats are great-----then why even buy this vehicle if you dont need the other seats go get a Tundra. This was a major miss from Toyota for a big SUV. Thankfully the Grand Highlander made up for it but the styling on it is already bland. Rather have the look of this Sequoia but interior functionality of the grand highlander.
Just as I’ve said over and over the sequoia is the most catastrophic suv redesign to date. From its subpar quality fit finish to useless space to a crappy driving experience to a very steep price tag it’s DOA
You can get a GX for basically this price. That car is nicer, gives you the badge, and probably is equivalent space wise. That solid rear axle destroyed the practicality of this car.
This is a beautiful SUV but the cargo space is HORRIBLE. We need the a longer wheel base model than this. They need to add an additional 10 inchs to 12 inches in length to this SEQUOIA and call it the GRAND SEQUOIA or the SEQUOIA XL but Toyota probably will not.
The cars become uglier as new models evolve. There's nothing more glorious than my first gen Sequoia 💪🙏😘 This thing resembles a flying saucer. The front grill resembles an air dryer and it will never handle the kind of offloading the old first gen can.😂

One of the best, honest reviews I’ve seen. Thank you!
Should have the FT 4wd with center diff like the Land Cruiser and 4Runner ltd.
Sharp truck. However, that hybrid / battery is what kills it. The previous gen is much better from that perspective. Common thread with Toyota/Lexus new models.....previous gens are better from a longevity/performance perspective.
Blame the government. They are responsible for car manufacturers having to get rid of the V8 engines
I had my 2024 I love it… you can’t beat the Toyota brand compare to American cars…I can’t buy a Tahoe or expedition with longevity even though the trunk in sequoia is horrible…
Needs more cargo space when the third row is up. Better to get a new Lexus GX for the same price and similar cargo spaces

Where does it still snow?
Do not buy this suv. Many of them have or develop a vibration problem. Toyota is aware and telling customers it’s a “characteristic” of the vehicle.
We have this vehicle and it’s perfect. I’m sure you’re one of very few to have issues. It’s like that with almost every vehicle

Amazing how Toyota ruined the Sequoia. It used to have a third row that folded completely flat. No more and the cargo areas is now garbage.
Agreed

Yes, the truck that shares a platform with a Honda Odyssey is definitely not a crossover.

So everybody is completely wrong a crossover is a vehicle that shares a car based platform not the fact that it's unibody Construction
