  • Almost every big storm that has come through the last few years we have had no power. Even the rolling blackouts are starting to become a problem due to the grid is what we are being told on the news. Literally tired of being days without power, lost of food, Depressing hot. Couldn't take it anymore and ordered a Generac and had it delivered and hired my plumber and electrician to install. Literally had this Generac installed for 2-3 weeks then Beryl came and the Generac was set to come on in under 30 seconds of power going out. This system kicked in and lasted during the outage which was 4 days. Invited family over to provide comfort and had a fridge of food and beverages to offer.
I made a list here of all the Generac and Home essentials to compare:

Great to see that when properly installed and maintained that system worked flawlessly for you when needed. It is sad though that in Texas the power is so unreliable.

We have a gas generator, a fireplace (several cords of wood) and and a propane unit with 500 gal propane tank on the property. So multiple options and it saved our bacon a couple years ago. We were without power for a few days.

At my current gas rate here in NJ I've estimated my generator costing between $1-2/hr depending on load. So you can potentially run up a $50.day bill. BTW, my generator is only 12kw, using about 150,000 BTU/Hr at full load (and I'm nowhere near full load). Yours would consume more gas seeing it will have a larger engine. You can find your engine's consumption specs in your manual.

Hi! From my install I had very limited space but the fact the window is fixed ( doesn’t open and close) I was ok on this. Thank you very much for watching!

Good decision. Once a month, I would go outside and flip your transfer switch and make the generator carry the load of the house for a full hour minimum. That lil startup it dows once a week isn't enough of an "exercise". Stock up on extra oil for it too as these things are notorious for burning oil while running days on end.

I have one on these on my house (Kohler), in NJ. Yes, it's great. Wait until you get your next gas bill!

@@js4653 we have one gas company here and that is definitely a bill waiting to see. Our light bills are steep here so I’m curious if what 4 days without power is going to look like. I’ll have to do an update!

The shortest distance by code is minimum distance of 18 inches from a non-combustible wall. That could be 18 inches.

If you do another video? can you take a picture of the gas meter, you can block the meter number with tap, It seems that you have an upgraded system, maybe for a pool or two Instantaneous Water heaters.
Have you tried to do a flow check, turn on the generator then go to the gas stove if you have one, turn on each burner and watch the flame, turn them on one at a time to see if the flame diminishes.

The problem I have in America is that many can afford big new trucks every 3 years, $20K annual vacations, dining out daily, 3000 sqft homes…but can’t afford to install backup power(generator or solar) and complain about the cost of taxes, insurance, power bill, hvac/plumbing repairs, etc.
