The company they had a dispute was Gretsch who made a drum set they called the "Broadkaster." In 1951, until Fender came up with the name "Telecaster" the guitars didn't have a name, hence, "Nocaster." The Fender custom shop makes a new verson of the original Nocaster. The relic versions are very cool. You do pay a premium for them but they're great guitars.

@@officialWWM That's true. The sad thing is, when they bought out Gretsch and Guild they ruined them. I have two Fender guitars, an Americas Vintage '61 Strat and a Custom Shop Tele. Both are great guitars. I also had a Westerly RI Guild X-500 before Fender bought them out.

Hi and thank u for watching - lower output pickups gives you a different sound - basically the higher output pickups distort earlier than lower ones and the lower output pickups are generally cleaner. I'm on board Dude, i cannot believe that you're here at no charge with some oda best shtuff around! THANKS i would like to ask a couple o questions always had a rough time with fingernails yours are short naturally right? i might have to trim more often and what gauge string is best? i'm thinking thin slinkies yes you're awesome i kno enough to say that!
Hi and thank u so much for checking out this video and for ur kind words - really appreciated. Yes, you want to keep your fingernails short on ur fret hand. A good test is tap your finger tip on a table and if u feel the nail hit before the top of the finger then your nails are too long and your nail will hit the fretboard b4 the finger tip. On string gauge its a personal preference thing - u want to try different gauges and strike a balance between which gauge sounds best to ur ears and feels best under ur fingers. A compressor makes a huge difference. I dunno how I played so long without one. A fender black face amp makes all the difference too. A twin reverb will make a Gibson twang! Lol
i can set my champion 40 (non tube amp) to get a pretty tone for country...all you need is work and deal with the stuff you have.....a mate of mine plays country with a g2622 gretsch through an ac 30 vox amp....just reverb, slap back and fingers...one of the best tones for country i ever heard....he said he took the choice of the gretsch and the vox amp just because they looked beautiful...and i've seen a metal shredder playin' metal with an spanish guitar through a mega amp (a budget made in china)....however, my opinion is "if you have a Tele you'll make it double good"
Nice. I have 1 too. Fender champion amp it's a good choice. Have a Lot of sound mine i setup in british (voice) for extra tele brightness. And that with My telecaster replica sound good. And the amp have diferent voices i like the copy of deluxe reverb. Sound very similar. It's a good amp. Fender champion the great

I wish my telecaster had twang like Waylon Jennings. But mine came with six barrels and it has a humbucker and a neck pickup I don't hear probably anything that bridge pickup really.

You must use a Telecaster for country. Strats, Jaguars, Jazzmaster, Mustangs and so on won't cut it. Especially Les Pauls would be a bad choice. Teles nail it.

They didn’t get sued, they got a cease and desist letter from Gretch because they had a drum set called the broadcaster. So they just clipped that off on the 51 and later became known as the Telecaster. Funny though because later Fender bought out Gretch.

attack is pretty much the speed and sustain holds the notes longer by bringing up the volume as it decays . there’s a lot of good ones out there but i recommend the Wampler Ego Compressor

He say's that one of the key components are the single coil oickups. What about Danny Gatton?. didn't he use humbuckers?. He only used a guitar, a Fendel amp and a delay pedal.
Overdrive sound is alot of Treble and bass. Scoop the mids, run some 100ms dig delay and some reverb. But You really need a hot bridge pickup on A Tone knob with a very high capacitor .47 or .50 , and i roll my bridge knob all the way down and the neck stays on 10. usualy this would sound wrong but if you want the Twang but also have it satchurated -but also clear- thats the way i done it. I got the sound like " Think ill Just Stay Here and Drink" solos. I also found that playing through a tube amp is better. I use an AC30 with a top boost. Crank it up full and roll my volume knob on My Strat to control the gain. and oh yeah, Compress that shit wouldnt hurt lol and IF you have single coils and there is no Treble bleed ( or high pass filter) then you should wire it up with the "Vintage" or 50's wiring and not the "modern" wiring.
I know this is a 5 year old video. But a lot of what I heard in this lesson sounds more like old school blues music, than western twang. Not saying there isn’t any western twang, it just sounds more blues than western twang. Possibly due to the electric guitar.

That’s pretty condescending since 1) you could’ve looked elsewhere, 2)the history this young man gave was actually pretty concise and 3) it’s really for everybody’s benefit. It’s called music appreciation. You must be a real virtuoso to come down so hard on this man’s excellent lesson.

great lesson, now im off to record a country album, cheers
The company they had a dispute was Gretsch who made a drum set they called the "Broadkaster." In 1951, until Fender came up with the name "Telecaster" the guitars didn't have a name, hence, "Nocaster." The Fender custom shop makes a new verson of the original Nocaster. The relic versions are very cool. You do pay a premium for them but they're great guitars.

Ironically. Fender now own Gretch.
@@jimvandemoter6961 fender tend to do that, lol.
@@officialWWM Fender's not the only one, look what Gibson did to Epiphone.

Another GREAT lesson from the Zinn Master. Thank you!
that's a cool tele!! :)
You got a great tone. I have a Troy jazzmaster 65’ pickups…can this guitar do 50s/60s country tones?

Curious-why do you like weaker pickups? I’m considering changing out the ones in my Fender Partscaster. What’s the benefit of lower output pickups?
Hi and thank u for watching - lower output pickups gives you a different sound - basically the higher output pickups distort earlier than lower ones and the lower output pickups are generally cleaner. All depends on your style and the type of music you play. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more content coming soon. I'm on board
Dude, i cannot believe that you're here at no charge
with some oda best shtuff around! THANKS
i would like to ask a couple o questions
always had a rough time with fingernails
yours are short naturally right?
i might have to trim more often
and what gauge string is best?
i'm thinking thin slinkies
yes you're awesome
i kno enough to say that!
Hey Ben, You do a good job of teaching.. I may enroll in your website.
A compressor makes a huge difference. I dunno how I played so long without one. A fender black face amp makes all the difference too. A twin reverb will make a Gibson twang! Lol
i can set my champion 40 (non tube amp) to get a pretty tone for country...all you need is work and deal with the stuff you have.....a mate of mine plays country with a g2622 gretsch through an ac 30 vox amp....just reverb, slap back and fingers...one of the best tones for country i ever heard....he said he took the choice of the gretsch and the vox amp just because they looked beautiful...and i've seen a metal shredder playin' metal with an spanish guitar through a mega amp (a budget made in china)....however, my opinion is "if you have a Tele you'll make it double good"
i have a princetone and a bassbreaker as well....but i mostly use my champion 40 to play at home
Fender champion the great
Awesome tips thank you. Will check out more of your videos.

I wish my telecaster had twang like Waylon Jennings. But mine came with six barrels and it has a humbucker and a neck pickup I don't hear probably anything that bridge pickup really.

I noticed you have three knobs on your tele switch plate. Do you have two tone knobs and a volume? Any special capacitors?
What do you think of Twang King pickups for getting more Twang with no pedals?
oink ooink .... ?
Great video great explanation thanks

Thanks a lot
do you have a lick section and artist recommendations?
You must use a Telecaster for country. Strats, Jaguars, Jazzmaster, Mustangs and so on won't cut it. Especially Les Pauls would be a bad choice. Teles nail it.

They didn’t get sued, they got a cease and desist letter from Gretch because they had a drum set called the broadcaster. So they just clipped that off on the 51 and later became known as the Telecaster. Funny though because later Fender bought out Gretch.

How do I get those very common haunting country tones that are ever present in backing tracks for minor country ballads ?
That's a steel guitar. Different instrument.
You just need a b bender 👍
hello, please tell us, what kind/brand/gauge of strings you would use/suggest
Hello and thank u for watching this video - really appreciated. I believe for this video Ben is using .010 gauge strings on the tele but I am not sure what brand - we filmed this video many years ago so I just dont remember - sorry I can't be more help on the brand. Then there is Gretsch style twang - a different thing.
Compression....what do controls like Attack and Sustain do? How would you set them for country?
attack is pretty much the speed and sustain holds the notes longer by bringing up the volume as it decays . there’s a lot of good ones out there but i recommend the Wampler Ego Compressor
You forgot one of the most basic elements of country tone, slapback.
Fender amps have reverb, crank it 😉
What's the extra knob do?
Hi - thats a special blend knob on Bens guitar that allows him to blend the pickups together. He say's that one of the key components are the single coil oickups. What about Danny Gatton?. didn't he use humbuckers?. He only used a guitar, a Fendel amp and a delay pedal.
................Ton of info here......I'm looking for the Merle Haggard sound.........
Lovely
He really does sound like Marty Schwartz.
What year is your tele?
I know this is a 5 year old video. But a lot of what I heard in this lesson sounds more like old school blues music, than western twang. Not saying there isn’t any western twang, it just sounds more blues than western twang. Possibly due to the electric guitar.

WHAT IS THE MODEL OF THE 15 WATT FENDER AMP....DID YOU SAY 6V6S ??
17porkster 6v6s are the valves in it.
Wow , Phil Nickelson grew a beard and plays guitar also !
I don't think you have to put "video" in the title of a TH-cam video.
godfatherNYC don’t be one of those people
😂😂
Helps in Google search
IF someone searches from an outside browser instead of searching from youtube Then most of the results would be articles. His Title including the word Video is actually smart
Marty Schwartz’s cousin
Cool
Miguel Serra yep
L or the usage of the volume knob in your intro piece… very pedal steel-esk

0:22 I hate that sound effect
Clean your fretboard
That guitar has character bro. It's like a storybook.
Clean your keyboard
Downvoted because I came to find out how to get the tone, not for a history lesson.
