Good quote but maybe it could be improved. There is a season to appreciate that they lived and a season to mourn their loss. I don’t think it’s wrong, there is just a point in time where it may not apply. There is also a point in time where it absolutely applies.
My Dad served in Vietnam, came home, adopted me, taught me how to shoot, ride, jump, and died just over a year ago. This hit me hard, my wife is watching it now, thanks for your service and thanks for leading Sir.
Possibly the most powerful message I've heard in a very long time, maybe ever. For those carrying survivors guilt or ptsd and thinking of suicide, this sends a powerful message that life is a gift and needs to be valued. We owe it to those who left without a choice, to live the life they couldn't. Thank you Jocko! Extraordinary message.
I'm thankful that such men lived and some are still here caring the torches of hope , courage , freedom and leading by example ! What a time to be alive where the pond of great men is vast !
My dad was in the Marines. He joined our creator 3 years ago; back when airports were closed and there were no flights because of the pandemic. I wasn't able to join him on his last march on this earth. This poem reminds me so much of him. Much Respect from Zamboanga City, Philippines
I will not waste today, I will enjoy every moment. I will do things I love. I will appreciate all of the wonderful people in my life. I will honor this gift. Remember. Thank you ❤
Jocko, been following along for 7 years now. I can say, your life is a living memorial to your fallen brothers, and to all of our nation’s heroes. You are teaching the rest of us what it means to live that life of honor and respect. I thank you for your words and actions. Keep going sir.
“So I take a drive when I'm weak Late at night when I can't sleep And turn your favorite station up real loud Leave my headlights on your name Then I kneel beside your grave And start to pray, man it's been awhile” - The Band Steele - Sit awhile
Heavy. Coming from a civilian it's hard to understand on the same level of you and the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice....but just know I am grateful for all the sacrifices from ww1 to now so I can enjoy the freedom I do to this very day...I am forever grateful. Respect to the highest degree.
ive laid in my bed remembering i love my troops i honor there memory i wish i could i give my own life for someone else young men who deserved so much SO much more i remember them everyday of my life and ill never stop honoring there memory
From the heart Jocko. Thank you for your service to our great country. Rest on embalmed and sainted dead, dear as the blood ye gave, no impious footstep here shall tread the herbage of your grave…..Bivouac of the Dead by Theodore O’Hara
I think @Trey M’s point was that these men and women paid the ultimate price that they were capable of paying. Of course Christ paid THE ultimate price. The least we can do is afford each other a bit of grace as we mourn and remember those who sacrificed all they could.
@@AshtynJadeProduction thank you. I didn’t want to say Jesus didn’t pay a price. But I hate when I comment on stuff like this saying the same thing and people always say, “ what about Jesus?” Yes I get it but give these men and women their recognition. I mean I guess they’re trying to compare these brave souls to Christ but still, this is their day. And I salute all of them! 🇺🇸
Thanks Jocko. Over the past few months I've been doing my grieving of my own. Not a combat person though. A girl I had strong feelings for but it never worked out between us. A few months ago she died from a brain tumor and she was an only child. She was 28 years old, was engaged and was supposed to get married tomorrow to be honest if I'm not mistaken. She was kindhearted and sweet and did nothing but good in this world. She never hurt anyone. I can't tell you how much anger and confusion I've felt and still do about the whole thing. But this video right here helps put things in perspective for me. If only for a moment. Thank you
Great job with the message Jocko, Happy Memorial Day America, freedom isn't free, Remember and Honor those who love freedom like Patriots, fought and died like Warriors defending America against all enemies everywhere including terrorists by any means necessary at all times and all costs, John 15:13.
The tears I shed after listening to this was the smallest form of sacrifice I could have made for those that made that ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to all those soldiers who paid that price so that I could live under the umbrella of freedom of this great Country.
Each year I taken my 3 sons to a temporary monument that is put up on Memorial Day at a local high school. It’s call the Field of Heros. As we walk we look at the names on the crosses and remember the sacrifice each has given for us. This year, by complete chance, we came upon the cross that represents Marc Alan Lee. My 11 year old loves the “Way of the Warrior Kid” books and grabbed me with tears in his eyes. “Dad look, it’s Marc Jocko’s Marc. I know it dad.” We stood there for a second in silence while we both contemplated Marc’s sacrifice. Then he said quietly“ Dad, we are so lucky that Grandpa came home.” Thank you to all those who gave their lives that we might live free!
Doing the “Murph” workout today to honor all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to protect ours. Those who served and who are serving, thank you.
Very powerful and from the ❤. My flag flew today for all the heroes who gave all so that others would live. My friend was kia 1-21-1968 on Hill 861. 3/26/k co. Marine. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him 😢
Detonating artillery shells falling on Dunkirk echoed in the distance. It was late May, 1940, my father was only eleven years old. He was in a small restaurant with my grandfather, the two of them perplexed by the French soldier sitting next to them having a feast. The soldier's meal was lavish, far in excess of what virtually all Europeans were used to in those days of rationing. My grandfather struck up conversation with the soldier. "Excuse me, but you are using up all your ration coupons on this one meal. What will you eat later if you spend them all like this?" The soldier smiled forlornly and explained, "Tomorrow the Germans will attack." He would have no further use for his coupons. He had no intention of retreat. This was his last supper. For that soldier who died protecting my father and all the rest of us. For all the others I could never begin to name or even know of. For all those who stand the wall. Thank you.
Glad most of the soldiers I know came home. Glad YOU came home. I don't have a military background. I respect it tremendously. Today truly humbles me. I too, will put flowers on a grave of a man's man. It's ironic. As usual, another good video, dude. Thank you.
So deeply felt and something so easy to understand. As I wake up on this day ( Memorial Day ) I cry watching and listening to Jocko and thinking about those I served with and all those I didn’t know that are no longer here! I will go to Parker crossroads in my home state and sit and talk to those before me and thank them for they service and sacrifice. I do this this because some do not. I’m thankful on this day to be alive, free, and live in a country I love 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Freedom is not Free is too easily forgotten by those that don't understand and appreciate the Sacrifice made by Heros for our way of life. I am Proud to be an American because of our Heroes. We should HONOR the Fallen and the Living that serve this Nation.
Thank all of you service members for your service and sacrifice - giving and providing me the opportunities my family has today. Rest and reflect today; our prayers are with you. Tomorrow, back at it - smart and aggressive.
US Navy vet... Beautiful, and I won't lie. I teared up. God bless all of the fallen. We owe them everything. I said on Shawn's video that these magnificent people are our sheepdogs that allow us to sleep in peace.
Thanks Jocko for you and your service. I’m sorry about your friends and brothers. Have a nice memorial day even when everyday is memorial day.l to me. Today especially…
I am so sorry for your loss,Jocko. Keep your head up My dear,Seth stone is so proud of you and the positive impact you have made on this world, you're a legend and a great role model for men. All love from Bianca.
Thank you for your service and your continual service to our great country, along with all our service members, past, present, and future! Much love n respect! 🤘
Oh Jocko, that was so, so beautiful!! Really touches the heart! I thank you for uploading this video. I hope many, many people watch this. I believe this video has the power to help people. Pure wisdom! YOU are one fantastic human being!! God bless you!
Jocko myself along with many others appreciate that sentiment, you are dead nuts on with we need to live our life to the fullest for them, it was an honor for me to have served with 4th BCT 82nd my last tour from 09-10 alongside many of the heroes we lost that year and like you said it's taken a lot of time to get rid of that anger and asking why. But again brother you hit that squarely on the head.
Jacko you’re service and all the guys in your platoon is so appreciated. Wish every soldier could have came home. Never realized what military members did and sacrificed when I was younger, but now I totally realize.
In the words of George S. Patton: "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived."
I use that quote every year on this day. it really says it all for me
Okay. Good point. But, I don't agree 100% at all.
awesome quote

And then he slapped the piss out of a soldiers suffering from ptsd.
To all the boys gone- Rest in Power. Very thankful as I turned 35 while the guys stay 18-19-20
Felt that in my soul. Thanks for sharing. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:13
Amen.
Amen
But can we stop forcing them to have to do so over lies?
US army/marine won't be in direct combat in another war, atleast nowhere near the levels of the GWOT wars which is a dwarf to 20th century wars

Man, you're not pulling any punches today, that hit deep!

I'm in Norway. I keep thinking of all the wars and troubles my ancestors fought. I keep thinking about them. I want to repay them
Crying in the middle of Frankfurt International Airport. Will have to come back to this one when I am able to fully immerse. Thank you, sir.

Remember.
Freedom isn't free.
What a perfect, personal tribute for this mournful day. Thank you Sir.
Jocko, you’re one of the most powerful speakers I know. I’m glad you share it with us vets and the rest of the world.
Never forget always remember... #salute

Wow. Really making me tear up over here. Salute! 🇺🇸. Thank you guys for paying the ultimate price for us, the common Americans. Thank you so much
