The new album is definitely going to be awesome. Starset's storytelling is pretty top-notch, but there are others that also do amazing work in that regard too. Since we can all like multiple bands and it doesn't detract from any of them to suggest more - If you like Starset for the story aspect and want some more while you wait, I suggest also checking out Les Friction. If you want a more retro-sounding power metal sound, Ayreon is great at telling stories, and if you like stuff that gets really heavy you can't go wrong with Mechina. I typically use all of the above to just hype me up more whenever any of them have an upcoming release and I'm sure not changing this time. Let's be glad that we have musicians like Starset and the others mentioned out there still who want to put some grand meaning into their music!

I just clicked off of a Starset video because I saw that there was a new Starset video out. LORE TIME: I was wondering what this 'New East' business was all about, I believe it was only mentioned in a throwaway line in Divisions (the scene on the train, I think?) Until this point, my understanding of the BMI's origins had been that it was invented by The Order themselves (the modern-day organization which eventually becomes the looming oppressive government in 'Divisions'), but this notion that they stole the technology from the military puts a new spin on things. The biggest question on my mind now is, since it's clear there are in fact two major parties associated with the BMI, which one does 'The Order' from Transmissions evolve into? It's no longer as cut-and-dry to figure out as I thought. I had assumed it was New West by default, but this clip debunks that by telling us that the New West was actually formed out of the corpse of the United States, under external pressure from someone else misusing the BMI: the New East. Based on its behavior in this clip, this new group sure sounds like them, but the thing is, I'm sure I remember The Order being based in the U.S.A when it was introduced in Transmissions. Perhaps the one we meet in the book isn't their only stronghold, just one cell secretly based inside the territory they're eventually planning to topple?

the three dots were pretty synonymous with the mind control technology present in their music videos, so i think they're for bmi itself. i don't remember if new east or new west had any symbols in the videos though
