  • This is the 2nd installment of starting with a stock Kobalt work bench that I'm the second owner of and make many improvements, upgrades and add much more space to the lower shelf of the bench. This is accomplished after Part 1 that added casters will now allow the lower shelf to be moved almost 7 inches lower (about 4 cubic feet of added space). Also in this video once the larger area above the bottom shelf is completed I've added plywood sides and a back to enclose this new "cabinet". I also finish the build on the top end of the bench as the original owner had now installed the steel peg board, the top covered compartment and the LED lighting.
In the 3rd installment that is coming I probably go a little (way) beyond what most people would consider a work bench (tool cart on wheels) to be like and look like. By far the most labor-intensive segment of this entire work bench - to tool cart is segment 3rd installation. More take aways on keeping cost way down by being a little inventive on what materials to use and where to find them.
