Thanks guy’s for your midweek vlog- on the star link , you have given me some great insight awesome setup - shout out to the lovely couple who assisted you Campedia 👍👍
I’m glad someone finally put a video of not having to cut the dishy open to flat Mount it. Driving with Starlink is a great thing. This solution will help many residential people that take their style link with them when they travel now becomes better and different ways of mounting dishy to their caravans or canopies. Thank you for sharing. Just on another note, you mentioned about installing a GPO in your tunnel boot area. Please make sure this is not a generic Bunnings product but a proper double poll GPO 👍🍺👍
This mounting solution is brilliant! I had been considering numerous methods, ranging from pole mounts to flat mounts from outback comms, but none of them provided the answer of being usable while in transit and still adjustable for situations involving tree coverage. Cheers guys!
Cant believe its been 9 months already , how time flies 😊 thanks for the review and explanation of an awesome product 😀 👌 Well done legends 👏 Greetings and cheers 🍻 from south africa 🇿🇦
Check your reception before putting it in the tunnel boot you have to get the signal through your tool box. My preference is to run it off an inverter in the canopy have the wifi unit closer to you.
Hey guys.. just heads up the base is apparently a little suspectiible to cracking on those mount points ur using.. watch out they don't break off... Also, we use a bit of foam to stuff in the boat bung while cable is in to stop bugs, dust, etc.
Great video. I looked into this 8 or 9 months ago and was told it worked great in the southern states but there was no satellite for northern Australia, say north of Broome, Alice etc. No idea if this was true but put me off a little as we travel mostly north in the winter. Be interested to see how you go.
Seems like the comments and what I see on the web are suggesting you might end up paying more than double monthly plus the hardware cost if you want to continue using on the move. Probably force you to go back to being stationary for Sue’s workday.
Is this the v3 hardware? Has it worked well in motion? Deciding which hardware is the best option for in motion and easily remove for using at camp sites :)
Great video again guys. We have just ordered starlink for our up coming trip. I will be mostly using it from an inverter. Any idea how much power it uses?
Haven't really natured it exactly unfortunately but what we can say is through the night with starlink on and charging phones and fans, we lose 20 to 30% of 600amps lithium.
Starlink a few days ago apparently started disabling the subscriptions of those using them mobile. They now have new more expensive plans for mobile use.
Hey guys… the “Roam” plan simply means that you can travel with it and set it up when stopped. The “mobility” plan has a larger flat dish that is Au$3700 and $399 a month. Now that it is becoming available in Australia, expect more people trying to use the Roam pack (used to called RV) while moving to get disconnected. (They actually cover this in the terms of use)
Hi guys, looking at getting the starlink for residential use and for the odd weekend away camping. I understand u can change the plan from residential to roaming when needed but is the roaming dish better or different to the residential one?
road tripping in outback is the most unforgiving when it comes to telecommunication. you can come across camping hike for 4days totally disconected to the world. id rather drive across america than aus. starlink would be the best option to have in the outback. glad to know that it works even while driving. 15mbps at a fck no where land is a game changer
Guys, is the $500 for their residential hardware or is that the business model? Thank you for the product review, I’ve been looking at getting one but want to make sure what I get is something like yours?
I'm surprised you haven't had "the email" where it tells you quite clearly that mobile Starlink is now off the table for the permanent resident subscriptions and because they can see you are mobile pulling and sending data, they will turn you off if you persist. No mention on this mid week video and am really surprised. Did you not as they say, get the memo? So basically you can have a mobile plan but it is not a traveling mobile plan. Starlink have come u with a u-beaut money spinner where you have to pay big bucks to be able to move while "interneting." Maybe TH-camrs are getting a hall pass for this. Happy travels guys, I am so, so envious, lot's of memories to keep and retell fit for a lifetime.
Hey guys, I’ve heard of some crew having their starlink accounts disabled or something when starlink find out it’s being used for mobility…have you heard anything about this??
Hey. I haven’t heard of that but in the U.S someone has made a Mount for them and when I reached out to them they wouldn’t send it to Australia so they are doing the same over there.
It’s happening here. I’m on a couple of local Australian StarLink user pages and people have had their service cancelled if the dish is moving faster than 10mph while in use… (yes, Americans… so miles per hour) it does seem to mainly be people that have modified their dish for flat use.
@@morepawstravels maybe it’s the ones for residential use which is a plan I think for $134 a month. I have heard people trying get that and then trying to use it as the roaming.
Another fantastic video - we have Starlink too and we’ve become aware of a number of people that have had their service halted because they are using it in a similar way to you. Starlink are banning the mobile use of it.
Keep in mind that caravans and canopies are basically big metal cages which means that the signal strength and therefore available data speed of the wifi router will be reduced if it has to go through metal walls (faraday cage effect) like the tunnel boot, etc....the router will perform better if it is in the actual van living and computer working space. I like the idea of the dish mount by keeping the original cross feet mount rather than a flat dish mount, but I would be concerned about the wind force while driving, on the dish to mount connection.......but it obviously has not been an issue for you.
It’s all good till the dish flys off and maybe through a windscreen of a another car. That would make a interesting video on the legality’s of your install.
Whatever anyone takes from this video do not mount your dish as this has been done for mobile use. Firstly the mount that is supplied with the dish is not designed for this use. Not even for static use such as on a house roof and Spacex has stated that. If something should happen and that dish becomes loose and comes of and someone is injured or god forbid killed you would be up the creek without a paddle and would not have enough money for civil compensation if you managed to avoid life courtesy of the Govt. I can’t believe someone would even consider putting this out as advice for the public.

Thanks so much Phoenix. Yeah big shout out to Campedia, great family!
Thanks for all the great Info guys ! Safe travels
Thank you 🙏
Thanks guy's,we have thinking of get one for our camper. We do go remote extreme in our journeys.Thans for your review.👍🏾
Pleasure Doug. Thanks for the feedback. Remote is best! Have a great week!

Hey Yusuf I know time really flies by! Deeyck mentioned 2022 yesterday, I had to tell him it's 2023 😅 hope you are well and enjoying sunny SA 😊
Check your reception before putting it in the tunnel boot you have to get the signal through your tool box. My preference is to run it off an inverter in the canopy have the wifi unit closer to you.
Thanks Brendan, great advice 👍
Ur in that carivan park in shark bay in dehnem and we are in that green tent down the end 😂
Hey guys sorry only just saw this message otherwise would ha e cone over to say hi! Hope you are travelling well!

You are so good at these mid week episodes 😊😊
Thanks Robyn, really appreciate the feedback and support 👍
Hey mate, just wondering how you are going now with this in motion??
that guys, great post. Did you end up mounting the router in the tunnel boot? if so how is the reception in the car when driving. thx Steve
Outstanding review!
Hi guys. If the router is in the caravan can you still get reception as you're driving along?
Ca n I ask how about weather/rain etc while driving? Do you need to do extra to protect it from the element?
Great video. Thanks John, we are heading up that way so will let you know 😀

Yeah appears that is a possibility.

Great effort and explanations well done
Thanks Ricky, appreciate the feedback 🙏
Hi Bobby,
Do you have the residential of roaming plan for Starlink?
Regards, Brian and Jeni
Hi Brian, we have the roaming plan
Do you bother putting the dish away if you go on day trips ?
Depending on where we are, yes sometimes.
Starlink a few days ago apparently started disabling the subscriptions of those using them mobile. They now have new more expensive plans for mobile use.
I’ll check it out but our is for roaming
Hey guys… the “Roam” plan simply means that you can travel with it and set it up when stopped. The “mobility” plan has a larger flat dish that is Au$3700 and $399 a month.
Now that it is becoming available in Australia, expect more people trying to use the Roam pack (used to called RV) while moving to get disconnected. (They actually cover this in the terms of use)
So they more than doubled the monthly cost to be able to do the same thing.
Does the constant vibration being mounted while moving effect the rotation mechanism?
So far all seems well and like in the episode we will take it off when doing big drives on really bad corrugated roads
Hi guys, looking at getting the starlink for residential use and for the odd weekend away camping.
I understand u can change the plan from residential to roaming when needed but is the roaming dish better or different to the residential one?
Hi Deryk and Sue. As always - love watching your vids. I was wondering, how does Starlink go under thick cloud? Have a great week 😀👍
Hi guys. No issue under thick cloud, just doesn't like trees or buildings interrupting line of sight!
Curoius how do you power it on 240volt as its not 12 volt ,how does it affect your batteries and inverter?
Hi there, does starlink chew up a lot of power?
It does use a bit of power. Not 100 % sure how much but it does use a bit
Thanks guys. Gotta get us one..
Thanks Robert, have a great week 😀

Yass! Thank you!
Is starlink the provider or is telstra still involved? How much initially and ongoing?
Hi it is part of Tesla, not Telstra. It is around $500 for hardware on special plus $174 per month.
Guys, is the $500 for their residential hardware or is that the business model? Thank you for the product review, I’ve been looking at getting one but want to make sure what I get is something like yours?
are you using roam or residential?
Great vid, quick question, is starlink waterproof ? What do you do when it's raining ?
I actually wondered this too!
Yes it’s waterproof. Just leave it out. If it’s heavy rain you may experience some dropouts
@@johncumberland2762 thanks

No
It’s the RV/Roam plans. They want you to pay the higher monthly fee and for the waaaaay more expensive flat dish
Another fantastic video - we have Starlink too and we’ve become aware of a number of people that have had their service halted because they are using it in a similar way to you. Starlink are banning the mobile use of it.
hey, in TH-cam are great videos about flat mounting the starlink onto your van. might be worth it ....
I have seen them in the U.S but when we reached out they wouldn’t send to Oz..
How much is Starlink to setup/buy and cost per month ?
Hi Mark, hardware is around $500 on special and $174 per month for roaming
@Sue Landolt assume thats unlimited dow/uploads
Hi Guys, have been enjoying your content, thankyou. Is your Starlink still working well in motion ? TIA.
Thank you so much 🙏
It was when we were travelling with our vacationer. We now have a surprise on the new van 😂
Love your videos could you just make the names of the places and parks more clearer as some of them I miss thanks steve
Hi Steve sure will do. We have started putting the name in the app up on screen. Hope this helps!
Thanks
Actually TH-cam works ok on 1 megabit per second, at 144 and Netflix can work at Less

I bet you’re fun at parties! Prolly dont get invited to many would also be my guess.
What plan do you have
We have the roaming setup for $174 a month
what plan r u on? Please
We have the roaming setup and is $174 a month
