I just bought the Gartenkraft XG Series 75 ft. Retractable hose reel at Home Depot (it’s a Sunneday) and they have addressed some of the “con’s” you listed. It has a flip-open compartment in case you ever need to replace the hose. Mine is a 1/2” and provides plenty of pressure to do hand watering or for hosing off the concrete and house walls/windows. I’m definitely pleased with the brand and product so far.
I just bought a Hoselink a couple of months ago after my pocket hose spring a leak. I really love it. The only thing I don't like is the largest one they have is 82ft and I really wanted a 100ft.
Yeah the 100 ft will definitely come in handy. Wish it came in 5/8ths instead of 1/2 inch though. I feel like I've lost a little bit of a pressure after playing with it a bit.
The foam is great. I used another brand to install a 16 foot gas pipe grape trellis with copper pipe cross beams . Plenty strong. Held 5 years before I moved with no problem . I will use that stuff again.
You're the only person whos reviewed all the different brands of automatic hose reels that mentioned about the repair factor. the others act you will never encounter a problem. I was wondering about how well the hoses are made and if they would work if you had to splice a cut hose. thanks for the review.
Needs some wetting agent at that low of cut. Hydretain also works great in conjuction with the wetting agent. Like my hoselink. My have to try this sunny land out back of my house.
The last 2 weeks have been absolutely brutal for us. High 90's and into the 100's with zero rain. Last year the yard didn't have too many issues with the heat. I think this could be a good budget option for you if you grab it for $155 at Home Depot.
Thank you! We got him from the shelter when he was a puppy. They said he was a Pit, but he looks more like an American Bulldog to us. Maybe a little boxer in him. Who knows! Haha
I like my hoselink but don’t love it… My favorite hose period is the blue continental swivtech hose, would love an eley to throw it on. I feel that would be the perfect combo.
I don't think I could swallow the pricetag on the Eley to manually wind a hose. I'll have to look into the swivtech hose though! I'm ready for your Swardman vs Allett video! 😈
Good review. I've thought about getting a hose reel for my 100ft hose but haven't ever pulled the trigger. I have been happy with my Zero-g hose, I have had it for 3 years with no issues but maybe I am lucky in that regard. What is your HOC on the front yard?
Thanks Chris. I definitely like the ease of it reeling back in by itself, but definitely could use a bigger diameter hose. The Eley hose reel might be a good option for you if cost isn't a factor. I couldn't justify the cost for a manual reel personally. Thanks for watching!
You may have swung me on this. Getting sick of my pocket hoses and am convinced they're giving me crappy water pressure. Thanks for the great review. And yeah, in Northern Illinois it's been hot as shit with no rain. Feels like mid-August the first week of June with no relief in sight.
Dude this weather is crazy right now. We've already hit over 100 multiple times this year here in Minnesota. If water pressure is a big deal for you, I would definitely go with the 5/8ths over the 1/2 inch if you can swing less length on the hose. Pressure is not as great as I thought when I reviewed this. Wish I had a little more now that I've used it a few times.
@@LAWNLIFE Probably bought my first one a couple years ago? But it leaks like crazy at the connection to the sprayer so it gets me all wet. Didn't take long for that to happen. But they've never exploded on me. Bought a couple from Menards and one from Amazon.
Mate, They are great, non burst , non leakage hose and tap connections are the best , I’ve had one for nearly 5 years and the other 3 years ; they retract easily and reach every part of my yard. I would recommend them to anyone : 😎
A year later, can you tell me how this is holding up? I want to get one but I live in Houston with extreme hot and humid weather and I just have a feeling these retractable reels won't hold up. Any update would be appreciated.
Looks OK to me.. I am not at all sold on the mounting bracket. Let the sun beat on that for a couple of seasons with U/V and I don't think that is the best 'single point' design for holding all that weight. Would far prefer at least a double hole mounting bracket. That would be the CON on this one for me
does the spray have a flood nozzle? cause i have never in my entire life ever used the flood nozzle. they made it difficult to open becuase people like to open stuff up during warranty and if something element wrong, they always blame it on the manufacturer when it was the customer who fucked things up
Why do people like you have to use the Lord’s name in Vain? It’s only a hose reel. How about Thanking the Lord for the Hose reel they send you for free? I wish I would never came across your video here I thought when I first started watching your video you were a gentleman.
Retractable hose reels are game changers

What foam are you guys talking about

I HATE rolling a hose. This is cool. Have you got a video where you used it for a while and you are still good with this?

@@LAWNLIFE A-ha. Great tip on the diameter. With the pocket hoses, just seems like it takes a bit to build up pressure. Oh well.
@@chrisaustin23 how long have you had your pocket hoses? Just curious if they're more durable than the shitty ones I bought.

That looks really cool. I'm wondering though would the half inch hose be good for a sprinkler to water the lawn?
I would go at least 5/8ths if you can find one. The pressure isn't as good as I thought when I made the video
Awesome review, It's a go
By the way Beard Trim on POINT
Thanks lol. Btw get the bigger diameter hose. Pressure seemed fine at first but wasn't enough after I started using it.
Completely agree on the fabric hose. Garbage. Hesitant to spend the money on an Eley reel. Game changer! Last reel I'll ever buy
First Aussie 😁. Great review, I have (2) 25 metre hiflow hoselink hose reels . They have patented non burst hose connections and Aussie made. 🇦🇺.

Its working great. I would recommend getting a wider diameter hose though. The pressure isn't as good as I originally thought
Any update on how the hose reel is doing now July 2022??
Buy a bigger diameter. Pressure isn't as good as I originally thought. Everything else works perfect still
Thank you very much for the response. Keep making videos and follow up videos.
Has this been holding up well over the last month? Just put it in my Amazon cart from your link. If you say it's good, I'll get it.
The pressure isn't as good as I hoped. I would get one with a bigger diameter if I had to do it all over again. Everything else I'm happy with.
@@LAWNLIFE Saw the 5/8" at Menards yesterday for $190. I'll prolly get it.

It does not. I've never used one either. The sprayer is your typical cheap plastic sprayer.
Any issues after 2 years of use?
Nope. Working perfect other than the pressure
@LAWN LIFE thanks for the heads up. Appreciate you
It looks like it’s a straight copy of the Hoselink…
Basically is, with a cheaper price tag.
