As a foot doctor I look at tennis shoes and tennis shoe technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe's functional attributes on the tennis court
Some of the main areas we cover in this tennis shoe playtest, and performance review of the The On The Roger Centre Court :
    - The weight, durability, fit and playability
    - What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole
    - On running and tennis shoe technology explained

I don’t even play tennis yet your videos are so interesting that it makes me want to start playing again. The last time I played tennis was over 20 years ago when I was a teenager. So much has happened since then that it’s not often I hear or see anything much about tennis. I think this sport deserves a lot more attention especially with the distancing between players and the whole social distancing drama.
I subscribed after watching your review on Serena Williams real trainers after searching for videos of Nike Pegasus Trail shoes. Just bought those in the Gore-Tex model, since it’s always raining in London. I’m quite enjoying your videos during this lockdown.
If you haven’t already (I’m gonna scour through your videos in a minute), could you make videos for new and beginner tennis players? Then I can fully blame you for my next tennis related expenses. Kind regards.

Thanks Paul, the speed board is mostly for their running shoes, almost something like the pebax plate in the GP turbo, they liken it to an archers bow storing energy, which to me makes a lot of sense - I’m curious why are your friends surprised?

@@FootDoctorZach thanks... I’m really confused as to what to choose. There are so many models so I’m not sure which is ideal for my lifestyle. It’s also complicated by the fact that I’m not sure what sizes are optimal for me since the shops nearby only have very limited stocks.
Since I’m trying different sizes for different models, I feel like I’m kind of between many different sizes (Both M and W shoes feel kind of ok) so it’s really overwhelming to find the correct model + size, despite having watched every review i could find.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Honestly you just have to try a few on to see where your foot is hitting the shoe- no two feet are alike- i try to give as much info as possible on fit but even two feet the exact same size will fit shoes differently because of the weird shape differences of feet

HUGE RF fan, but these shoes do confuse me. At $190 they seem a bit steep for a 'walking around' shoe, especially when I get get Rod Laver or Stan Smiths for much less to walk around in. Hoping the price point drops a bit AND ON starts stocking M14.

Bought these shoes before finding the video. These are a disaster for driving stick-shift. If you have an automatic, you get a wider brake pedal, but a stick has a narrow pedal which is annoying with this massive groove in the middle of your shoe.
The "leather" isn't really leather. It's pleather - "vegan leather." They don't breathe at all. Sweaty shoes. And they crease fast.
On the bright side, they wear out REALLY fast. So it won't be long before I toss them.

Prior to Roger coming to ON, ON was alreaady a bootique ish style running company. Especially when compared to Nike or Addidas. Only way the prices can come down is if the company becomes infinitely more popular. This can only happen with time, the company is quite small.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@maxpowers4436 Not sure how they can become more popular if the price is so high. The're like super premium brand for running shoes. Cheapiest models cost around $130 and they go up to $200. Even the most expensive shoes from Nike or adidas are max around $160. This brand has a stamp "rich people only" and to be fair it fits Roger's style really well.

they are hard and rock solid. totally uncomfrtable and almost zero cushioning compared to running shoes like nike react or ultraboost. Can't recommend these :/

Perfect comfort, lousiest waterproofing. Those holes below the soles are great for walking just not in the rain. Stupid really.

With all the respect and admiration I have for Roger I don't think these shoes will be successful...Not bad but way too expensive for what you get. If I need real tennis shoes supporting my feet I definitely won't wear these and if I need a lifestyle shoes I'll go with the timeless Stan Smith spending 57 euro or , in case I need something better , the New Balance 990V5 made in USA ...both on '' vegan leather '' (??!!) :-) :-)

Love the vegan leather - yeah unless you’re a huge Roger collector, hard to justify the expense

I think these will be successful with super-rich middle-aged tennis fans who want a casual shoe to wear with a polo and chinos.

Plus weren’t they a limited edition upon release? I heard the first batch sold instantly, the second has more colours and is also a bit cheaper. I first thought they were kind of meh but they have since grown on me looks-wise.

Yep they were a limited release then they scaled back up just a bit ago with the additional colors

1:25 funny you say "vegan leather" is a fancy way of saying "fake leather" ... when the word "leather" itself is just a fancy or sneaky way of saying "dead skin of an animal".
Oh how simple minds get easily fooled.
