Hi everyone,
Welcome to Kanazawa Omicho market.
Located 1 km from Kanazawa Station, Omicho market has been Kanazawa’s largest fresh food market since the Edo Period.
This year, it will celebrate its 300th year anniversary.
Omicho market has 200 shops and stalls, mostly fishmongers that sell freshly caught seafood from the Sea of Japan.
But, there are also fruit and vegetables stalls that sell unique local products, meat shops, clothing store, groceries and restaurants.
I love going to this fresh market to buy various products directly from the local, and enjoy the fresh seafood. This time I will go grocery shopping in Omicho market.

Such a wonderful supply of fruit and veggies .. everything in uk seems to be imported and therefore not much choice 😠😠
In Italy is the same. But the flow sometime depends from the day,the time and cultural habits. Many women and men work all day long and especially if they are in a big city,the supermarket is the choice more simple. When you're old,is more simple to have time to go to a market. I love market, I go every saturday,but if I go during the week(if I don't work),I meet only old ladies!☺️ Sorry for my awful english,have a good day! 🙂

I remember this market! It was a lot busier when I was there though. I was in Kanazawa about 4 years ago, stayed for a week and had a wonderful experience there. The local people are very friendly, the food was amazing, shopping was the best. I look forward to going back next year.

been here last Januari 2020 before the pandemic start.. the oyster taste really fresh and i've even try the sushi package at the restaurant before the exit to kanazawa castle park, the taste and freshness is on a different level. Very nostalgic with Kanazawa City, especially with Ken-Rokuen Garden. And I hope you will make a video of those place in winter time, because 2 times i visit there (December and January), didn't have a chance to see it covered in snow.

I pressed subscribe when I saw that, just like me, you carry your own grocery bags for shopping and refuse plastic bags. I do carry plastic containers if I go to buy meat, seafood or tofu but sometimes I forget too or don't carry enough to contain my purchases. Oh, and I love Japan! I've been there many times and used to visit it 5-6 times a year before the pandemic. I have visited Kanazawa too and loved the city!
