  • Governments around the world are anxious about the free fall in US-China relations. It is why they want to see Beijing and Washington develop a framework of managed strategic competition to reduce the risk of crisis and conflict.

As an Aussie, it’s such a relief to hear mature discussion about the politics of the USA instead of the usual hyper partisan drivel. American politicians and journalists of all sides should be taking notes on how to lift their game in order to take the heat out of the mind numbing, energy draining, trust eroding disaster that has become US politics. The world would be a safer place if they did.

Rudd has no balls to say the truth. that is Taiwan is to China, what Crimea is to Ukraine. if Ukraine is willing to fight Russia to maintain it sovereignty, by want logic should we expect China not to care about their soverighty? China soverighty over Taiwan cannot be challenged. if it become clear to China that NATO seem to undermine Chinese soverighty, than they will have no choice but to assist Russia to keep NATO away from Asia, since it is clear that NATO is no longer neutral to China. it really that simple, if You want China to maintain neutrality on Ukraine, you have to maintain neutral on the Chinese civil war. intervening in the Chinese civil war would force China to see NATO as a threat, this is unnecessarily stupid.

It's in their government to take their best decisions to solve their own internal affairs for their citizens, lift them out of poverty, and raise the country's services in health, education, employment outlook, infrastructure, leisure, happiness, peace, personal safety etc.
Other countries, having an axe to grind with them out of geopolitical, fears, jealousy etc, will define "human rights" outside of their country's context n in the worst possible light, smearing n disinformation.

Just about everything he said was 100% wrong.
The Americans only came out with the claim China is thinking of selling weapons to Russia with any evidence whatsoever as soon as China came out with its 12 point peace plan for the Ukraine War.
This was a concerted effort by the US to thwart the Chinese peace plan because they want this war to continue as long as possible since they think this was will weaken Russia.
The US does not want peace in Ukraine.
That is why they try to demonize China's character and position in this conflict and peace plan.
He also failed to assess that the War is not going badly to Russia as the Western Media is portraying it to go.
The Ukranians have lost well over 200 000 soldiers in comparison to Russia's around 16 000 to 20 000.
The Ukrainians are about to collapse as Bakhmut is about to fall.
And as soon as Bakhmut falls the Russians are going to have an open door from Bakhmut all the way to the Diniper River to possibly set Kiev on Siege and go for Odessa.
If any of the above takes place Ukraine is finished as a state and the West will be in a world of trouble in its plan to defeat Russia.

    Two things:
China is fostering multipolarity with its foreign policy grounded in Deng Xiaoping's 5 principles of international relations, which are:
    1. Mutual respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
    2. Mutual non-aggression.
    3. Mutual non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
    4. Equality and mutual benefit. (win-win economic development and trade)
    5. Peaceful co-existence.
Contrast this with the U.S. foreign policy of "Full Spectrum Dominance," zero-sum exploitation of countries in the global south by utilizing IMF and World Bank debt traps and imposing the Washington Consensus of privatization of public enterprises and structural adjustment, which prioritizes the demands of foreign creditors above the health, educational, housing, and nutritional needs of populations.
Second, China is pushing back against U.S. military aggression.
The U,S. is building missile bases aimed at China from one end of the First Island Chain to the other; it is sailing warships through the Taiwan Strait, selling arms to Taiwan, sending high level officials to visit Taiwan on a state-to-state basis, and stating publicly that the U.S. will defend Taiwan militarily if attacked by China (China's aim is to reunite with Taiwan peacefully); the U.S. is also encouraging Japan, Australia and South Korea to adopt a hostile, armed posture toward China.
Contrast this with China's 5 principles, which are day-and-night in comparison to the hostile, aggressive, militaristic posture of the U.S. and its vassals toward China.

China doesn't support Russia and continue to recognize Ukraine sovereignty over Crimea is because China expect the West to continue to recognize China sovereignty over Taiwan. if NATO demonstrate it is selective in honoring sovereignty, China will return the favor in kind. it is really about mutual respect, you want China out of Ukraine, than stay out of China.

China is being pushed (by US) to a position that could cause both side into confrontation. In respond to the US war of words, China still managed to respond in dialogue that the US might understand. But the US should refrain from instigate the situation a step further. China sure has the capacity not to play the game and could face the US in 'combat' economically and militarily . That will damage their relationship further that might take greater effort and years to repair down the road.

The US, Republicans largely, fuked their own international standing over the last 10+ years, firstly economically by forcing a government shut down with Obama (and it’s about to happen again soon), and then destroying their global hegemony by electing an isolationist in Trump. Biden has also been sleeping. He dropped the ball both with Saudi and Iran, focusing on their little proxy war with Ukraine, creating instability.
In parallel China has grown and is now well and truly on par with the US. Projected to have a bigger economy in a year or two, and slowly taking a greater lead role in international diplomacy, eg. Ukraine and Iran-Saudi.
Unfortunately Australia is destined to go down the drain with the US, but as the global powers shift I hope KRud can guide the Australian Government to take a more neutral stance instead of blindly joining the US down whatever aggression they think will help them beat China down again.

Ever since he went to work for US based/funded think tank based in NYC, Asia society, rudd has clearly been developing us contacts and networks in state department and diplomatic channels, helping him get the job of Australia's ambassador to the US.
Now he has to get in line and just repeat albo govs talking points, which is also in line with us govs talking points. Ie "rules based order" but he will never mention or criticize USA for not even ratifying UNCLOS, or USA threatening icc investigators while supporting war crime charges against Putin. That shows a clear bias. He cannot criticize usa in the same objective and unbiased manner that he criticizes china for(or least he tries to be objective).

Taiwan has 5 iconic features. Convenience stores, night markets, sheet metal houses, scooters and temples🥰👍. Although it's way far from comparing with the lifestyles of beauty and graceful architectures, designings of Europe, prosperity with great combination of the old and new cultures and infrastructures and magnificent art works of China, Japan and Thailand, entertainment, fashion and prosperity of the U.S., Korea and H.K., or healthy, simple and harmonic environment of Singapore, Canada and Australia. Yet in terms of food and convenience it's performing over the average.
With this World first or second amenities of life and convenience store we need to thank to a lot of talent, friendly and deligent staffs working in the industry.
Taichung, Taidong and bush walking of Northern coast are some of those tourists are not that familiar but also worthwhile to visit.
There's a lot of cousines with chicken, Beef, pork, tepanyakis, noodles, hot pots, soups, dumplings, bread and pastries, snacks, fried stuffs, breakfast, coffee shops, fruits and beverages.
In terms of hygiene, platings and decorations, environment and atmospheres, accommodation and friendly communication are probably can be much improved. But amounts and prices which is cost performance ratio is above the World average. In Taiwan people like salty sweet, bittery sweet or hot sweet taste so food tended to be a little bit smooth sweet than the other places. Some of those good food come from the famous shops and some from small shops or shops in traditional markets are even better. There's still ones not that good but the propotion are relatively less. So will be some suprises to explore.

The United States is the wealthiest country in the world and have the most powerful military for the last seventy-eight years. This led some Americans to believe that they are exceptional and that there are natural laws that ensure their position as the number one nation on earth forever. As such, the US feels justified to use all necessary means to maintain its dominance and will take any steps necessary to prevent any potential rivals from growing too strong. CIA was involved in covert operations that resulted in mass killings of communists in over 22 countries. More than 500,000 innocent Indonesian civilians disappeared in 1965-1966. To make the world safe for democracy, the US has caused the deaths of over 12 million people in its conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
China believes that a multipolar world is essential for global development, where every country has the opportunity to realize its full economic potential. This approach emphasizes cooperation between nations rather than competition, to achieve a shared vision of prosperity for all. While the US prioritizes its position as the sole superpower, China advocates for a more inclusive and cooperative approach that allows for the development of all nations. In the last forty-four years, the Chinese military has not used its weapons to kill a single person outside its territory. China will not be lured into war.
The US has chronic domestic problems, including a national debt of over $31 trillion, economic inequality, inflation, healthcare, education, racial inequality, mass incarceration, infrastructure, housing affordability, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence. The country's political leaders are deeply divided and hostile to each other.
Both parties have identified China as their "most consequential threat" and the source of their problems. Many believe that China must be weakened before it becomes any stronger. The US is using Taiwan to provoke China into a war and preparing to fight in that manner.
The US population is whipped up to see Chinese threats everywhere. A weather balloon is seen as a threat, as is a port crane and even TikTok. Sanction chopsticks, noodles, and sewing machines, they have dual uses. Chopsticks could poke someone's eyes and blind them, noodles could be fed to PLA soldiers, and sewing machines could be used to make military-grade uniforms.
China is Australia's largest trading partner, outpacing the combined purchases of the next three. Our export to China stands at 10.4% of our GDP. Our military budget is less than 2% of our GDP. AUKUS is a tactical masterstroke, leveraging our robust trade surplus with China and spending $368 billion to acquire Virginia-class nuclear-powered hunter-killer fast-attack submarines to attack our biggest trading partner. With the deployment of these submarines, we have the power to bring their entire global sea-borne trade to a standstill, at any moment of our choosing.
If another country stations its military on your territory and you have no control over that military, then you become a client state of that country. This means that they do not trust you to remain loyal and that you have surrendered your sovereignty to that country, especially if you do not station your military in that country.
The US stations its military in all of its allies, and as a result, these client states do as they are told by their patron. Gough tried to have an independent foreign policy, and John Pilger has a lot to say about how he was dismissed.
To maintain its position as number one forever, the US must weaken all potential rivals, even if they are allies. All of its European allies are now significantly weakened by the US, and not one of them dares to complain. The US bombed NordStream 1 and 2, and Germany remained silent.
Therefore, the US has no allies, only client states.
The US needs allies for political cover to legitimize its wars.
The US creates enemies for its allies so that it can protect them from those enemies, and in return, the allies buy weapons from the US. Most US allies contribute financially to the upkeep of US military forces on their territories.
