China is declining empire and its very very dangerous. USA is also dangerous and declining empire. But what can you do thats path we picked. Nothing you say or do can change that future because empires fall by their nature.
Yes, USA has already weaponized the global reserve currency and the SWIFT transaction system! This is an injustice because it affects more innocent people!
800 foreign military bases is not a sign of a peacekeeping country. Surrounding China and Russia with military bases and nuclear weapons doesn't help. Wow, what hypocrisy! The New Silk Road is the future of economic prosperity for Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Beyond the military bases all over the planet. It's easy to see that the vast majority of US weapons systems. Have two main functions. Power extension and attack... Are not defensive systems! It's that simple. Example: US 20 Aircraft and heli carriers. Function projection of power... Not defense. So much so, that they're not even on US borders. They're on someone else's borders! Oops!
The Silk Road poses a real threat to the US economy and the collective West, hence the reasons the West continually attempts to block China's expansion in the Pacific.
20 years ago i participated in a march against the War in the middle east, downtown Toronto,... i still feel the same way about it twenty years later. I actually have more questions about it and how 3 buildings fell out of 2 airplanes.
Is there more to it? Vladimir Putin has called the breakup of the Soviet Union "the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th Century." Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union. Putin took Crimea in 2014. Does he stop before he gets it all back? Can we believe anything he says about future intentions? How do we stop this in the long run? Advise democracy loving Ukrainians to capitulate and leave their country? Is it really a good idea to show the Russian regime that their every advance will succeed if they just persist? I am advised by my Ukrainian friends that they like boxing. Their view seems to be that the Russians had it too easy before this war and that they need to learn to respect Ukraine as an independent, sovereign nation. Putin gathered a lot of his world view in the context of martial arts. A hard fight can bring about an enduring respect.

Americans love to repeat history. It's all the fault of the Chinese. China does indeed have WMD, like Iraq, which is your reason for war with China. Get your children ready for war with China. An all-out war with China would solve all of America’s problems, what the Opium Wars did for the British. Rich American kids stay home, and young working-class Americans are ready, excited, and happy to fight the genocidal Chinese.

I don't see that China is trying to present itself as impartial, so yes, impartiality is irrelevant and that's worth a chuckle. China has clearly presented itself as the partner of Russia and as ready to do business with any nation interested. And why verbally condemn another nation when you can buy discounted oil and gas from them? China is building up a military they intend to use for leverage most of the time, and for a fight when they choose. Yeah, the "impartial" angle isn't coming from China.

Chinese diplomacy comes at the end of building infrastructure, not bombing. Remember, china only threatens to use force against taiwan because it has always claimed taiwan is a part of china and if taiwan is a part of china, then use of force would be justified if taiwan declares independence, attempts to develop nuclear weapons or allows US to build military bases on taiwan

World Peace should always be a priority for every nation. With that being said; war has always been for for two reasons: obtainment of natural resources and inhumanity to it's citizens.
While the goal of world peace is certainly a noble one, the statement that war is only ever driven by the obtainment of natural resources or inhumanity towards citizens is a dangerous oversimplification of the complex realities of international relations. From a materialist perspective, it is true that access to resources such as oil, minerals, and land has historically been a driving force behind many conflicts. However, it is important to recognize that geopolitical power struggles, ideological differences, and the pursuit of strategic interests also play significant roles in shaping international conflicts. For example, the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union was driven primarily by ideological differences and a desire to exert global influence, rather than by resource acquisition or inhumanity to citizens. Similarly, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine is driven by complex religious, historical, and political factors that go far beyond the simple desire for access to resources. Moreover, the statement that war is solely motivated by the obtainment of natural resources or inhumanity towards citizens ignores the fact that many conflicts are driven by a combination of factors. For example, the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 was driven by a desire to secure access to oil resources, but also by a misguided belief that Saddam Hussein's regime posed a threat to global security and that American exceptionalism was a civilizing savior. In summary, while the goal of world peace is certainly a worthy one, it is important to recognize that the causes of war are often complex and multifaceted, and cannot be reduced to a simple binary of resource acquisition and inhumanity towards citizens. Viewing international relations through such a narrow lens is not only inaccurate but also potentially dangerous, as it risks oversimplifying complex issues and overlooking the many factors that contribute to conflict.
can you image this madness when there is a (proxy) war at another country where people are suffering so who cares what we think is acceptable. Sometimes the elder is a bad parent who abuses their kids. China has concentration camps running around the clock. They don't even care about their own citizens and they constantly lie to the world and the public.
In ancient Chinese military strategy book Si Ma Fa (《司馬法》The Marshal's Art of War, Chapter: Reng Ben 《仁本》 ), it was written,“A country that loves to go to war will eventually perish, but even though the world is in peace, a country that forgets how to go to war will be endangered" US is a warlike nation with constant wars with one after another, so it final destiny is pretty neat in the future. It will soon go broke and collapse like former Soviet Union.
And very important is also the other side. Because the Qing dynasty forgot how to go to war in the early 19th century, it was endangered. This is very important to remember. You must never forget history.
@Cosmic Dancer Exactly. These simple minds think that it's just bombing someone into submission. And what happens after? You have a slave community like Israel has in Palestine. Integration only happens under fairness and when people feel they belong. Imposing your culture is a sure fire way to have a long protracted war that will take millions of lives. So Russia is showing that it's purpose is not shock and awe but it wants to occupy those lands and integrate them into their nation. The US doesn't understand that because Anglos don't integrate, they impose. They erase and replace. They can't comprehend Integration.
Remember that the Ukraine War was started by Putin. Xi has already stated that Taiwan 'belongs' to China and will take it by force if necessary! Autocrats like Putin and Xi are a threat to world Peace (not the US). Your question is absurd on its face!
Wow! Brilliantly put. There are many intelligent, insightful and concerned thinkers in the US. The world needs people like this in The White House. The UK mainstream media is slowly talking about cessation is even starting to criticize US policy. AB needs to be on every news channel and every talk show for the sake of world peace. ☮️
I think the idea that you can invalidate a nation as an intermediary because they aren't impartial is self-defeating and ridiculous. What would an "impartial" nation in matters of geopolitics, warfare, and economics look like? The very existence of a state implies an agenda worth coordinating over, worth defending militarily, and so on. As if the US were somehow unbiased in this matter; they hand-selected key members of the Ukrainian government.
While stock prices can be an indicator, it is hardly the best way to measure economic health. Lifting 800 million people out of poverty and unleashing the potential of these 800 million people is what really made China strong today.
USA international policy; death, destruction, monopoly, exploitation, bullying, forcing weapon buying etc etc China foreign policy; construction and development, providing affordable products to the world.
Just imagine what the status of the US would be if it would have fostered friendship, (free) education for foreigners, trade relations and a general mood of trust and friendship. It took the opposite path and is now earning what it has planted over the last 50 years.
Unfortunately they haven't had an ounce of the good qualities it takes to lead a nation like that since their inception. Look at their relationship with the Native Americans.
The powerbrokers in the US and those with massive egos in the Anglosphere have one card to play and one only - complete domination of a situation, including theft, breaking the law, demanding changes to a will, whatever, so long as they dominate 100% all is well and good and if they don't, they simply play that one card each time. This one strategy, if you can call it that, led to the British Empire, and shortly thereafter, American Independence followed by American power dominating the globe. The only problem is, that last era is over, and unlikely to return any time soon. The annual economic growth rate of the US is low compared to a few key power centers outside it, and that is unlikely to be reversed. So the one-card play, so successful in a unipolar or bipolar world (US-Britain or France, US-Russia), is now looking out-of-date, an anachronism, and a thing of the past unlikely to yield the greatest benefits in the future.
Something that is very strong evidence for this is the state of global alliances. The US has no real Allies, that is, no countries comparable to them in power or wealth whom it treats as equals, and smaller countries which reluctantly hang off their coattails (Britain, Australia) due to literally having no-one else of any power who would ever want to buddy up with them, even if they were a mere kid brother. And the bit players of those alliances live in constant fear and trepidation at the US abandoning them or key aspects of them unilaterally, because they can do so without losing anything substantial. On the other hand you have a successful European Union of almost that entire Continent, a Russia-China Axis (with a possible third leg in Iran and a sympathetic India and South Africa), several South Pacific countries in close co-operation (Australia, New Zealand, PNG, several Polynesian island nations), and a high degree of unity and cohesion within all of South America and most of Africa (even with over 50 countries). Globally, a country that has no allies on an equal footing (other than powerless sycophantic idolators), is a rare specimen indeed - in fact there's just one. But as Henry Kissinger eloquently explained - "To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal". But I hear you say that the US is the largest economy in the world, so why would it need allies? Factually that's wrong. The EU has a 10% larger economy, and China alone is 20% larger.
Nothing says "yielding the greatest benefits [of] the future" like putting your whole stock in neo-fascist police-states like China, Russia, Iran... Enjoy the nuclear winter.
I think the Korean War showed the limits of American power, and the Vietnam War confirmed it. Those wars had their proxy aspects, demonstrating the world was already multi-polar. America can overwhelm small adversaries like Grenada, Panama, and barely Iraq. America could not prevail in a remolding of Afghanistan because too many in Pakistan and the Islamic world in general would not accept that. So I don't get the exaggeration of American power. There's too much history that shows its limits.
If China isn't impartial and neutral enough to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, who is? Most of the world has sided with Ukraine/NATO, which eliminates them from consideration.

Compromise would basically mean Russia won this war and Ukraine would have to live with a smaller territory, the higher risk and humiliation of having Russia occupying its land and the lack of punishment for the atrocities Russians did. If a neighbor had invaded your property and killed your family members, would you listen to anyone who proposed you should compromise and let them keep what they took and ignore the family members killed? Who would do that?
Russia was asking for negotiation for the last 8 years. What did the Ukrainian government do? It was begging for arms and money from NATO warmongers, bombing Donbass( which was actually Ukrainian territory with Mostly ethnic Russians) . So Ukraine wasted 8 years to negotiate. Now no stopping Russia.

And anyone who runs an organization whose funding comes from combined contributions by George Soros and the Koch brothers has lots of explaining to do. Two of the Quincy Institute's top members resigned over the Ukraine invasion and Bacevich's position. Something here doesn't align with reason. Russia is an invading army. That is an inescapable fact. Defending that position, or defending China who believes Russia has the right to dispossess the Ukrainian people of land occupied by the Russians is at best questionable. Bacevich might have my support if he weren't clearly on the side of two imperialistic nations, Russia and China. Is that the "invasion" Kirby is talking about?!
Not that i necssarily support China. But anyone who has visited China over the last 20 years, as I have, will have seen the vast amounts of resources, manpower and wealth used to build some of the most astonishing feats of engineering: thousands of Km of high speed rail, gigantic buildings, skyscrapers that used to be symbol of American prosperity in the 30s. All the while America spent all its money on Iraq and Afghanstan, which ended up literally in the pockets of ISIS and the Taliban...that's not even an exaggeration! And lets not even mention support for Israel! American infrastructure remains largely unchanged over the past 50 years. Its just pathetic.

For example 风水 is a kind of Harmony. You may see China named our bullet train as Hexie Hao. Inside China, we have 56 ethnic groups, all contributed to our glorious civilization history! Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism and Hinduism peacefully coexist in China for thousand years! Outside China, as a secular country, China can peacefully coexist with Muslim countries, Buddhism countries, Christian countries and secular countries! Chinese make wealth through hard-working instead of war/colonizing! Along the Silk Road beginning in the Han dynasty (207 BCE-220 AD) Chinese brought prosperity to countries along the road instead of war/colonizing!

I think the US peaked at the end of the Cold War and has been in decline ever since but if Britains decline is anything to go by there is atleast another 20 or so years till it is widely accepted and even then some nutters will still consider the USA “great” for well over a century.
At the Cold War's end a NY Times editorial declared that now our USA can be the new British Empire - only better. That tells you some VERY powerful Americans had chosen a VERY wrong model for our American future. Seemingly, by better they meant that we could fall apart much faster than the original.
'Harking back on its past,' merely suggests a recognition of historical facts. Britain has learned from that; which is why it is still highly regarded today (and why so many foreign asylum seekers continue to see it as a beacon of hope!). Also, what is your evidence to suggest that the US is in a state of decline? Certainly, it experienced a bad hiccup under Trump, but things are much improved today, n'est ce pas?
Does it really make a difference if America is number 1or number 2 behind China, with China having 1.2 billion people vs America's 360 million at number 2, most Americans will still have a much higher standard of living and with both having nukes, explain to me the big difference.
Yes, important thing to remember. USA is likely still going to be very powerful in 2100, and still a global menace, even though its hegemonic, hyperpower days (in the words of Hubert Vedrine in 1998) are nearly over.
The tragedy of the Iraq was is that the people of the world marched and spoke against it... But the politicians of the world did nothing, no sanctions , no cutting of ties with the USA. Fortunately for Ukraine, many of the politicians of the world are acting on their behalf against Russia's invasion of them where they didn't on behalf of the Iraqis. The USA foreign policy history is largely shameful. I would hope that it emerges from that with a more mature attitude into the future. The western allies cannot fare well in a new split world unless the USA learns to just a part of the new alliance and not a dictator to that alliance.
The politicians of the AZWO -- Merkel and Hollande -- made a mockery of the Minsk Accords, and used them as an opportunity to pour arms into USkraine. NATO, it appears, then urged the Kiev politicians to escalate their genocidal assault on Russian ethnics in the Donbass. The escalation, which began in Feb 2022, forced Russia to abandon diplomacy and switch, first to a massive show of force, and then, to an actual intervention. The politicians in the U.S. bloc then urged Kiev to feed more and more lives to the meat grinder in a futile deranged effort to conquer Russia. I would certainly agree that the history of U.S. foreign policy is "shameful". Such a tame word for it!
Protests are no substitute for free and fair elections for all citizens. America's allies have generally been quite content to let the American defense budget and the American nuclear umbrella subsidize their more favorable domestic budgets. Millions of Americans do not like this, nor do they like seeing domestic jobs exported to allied countries. The American people generally do not benefit from our large defense budget, although selected industries do. America ends up exercising leadership because it has the military manpower and the hardware. At the end of the Cold War, there was a great deal of cancellations in the American defense budget. That was consistent with a post WWI American mentality of seeking a peace dividend. That's gone. Europe failed as much as the United States to deter the war in Ukraine, and its their backyard to guard. I would not expect the American elite to be "more mature" in the future. They want protection and they will throw anybody under the bus before risking any serious loss to themselves. And I don't expect much different from any other elite. Robust democracy and an armed populace can try to keep a lid on an elite.
@@r.w.emersonii3501 Don't trot out that about the Minsk accords.. in which foreign fighters were supposed to leave Ukraine.. well, the Russians never left Donbas did they?

So many things to consider in Bacevich's assessment.
World Peace should always be a priority for every nation. With that being said; war has always been for for two reasons: obtainment of natural resources and inhumanity to it's citizens.
1
no it's natural resources and military industrial complex rackeet to sell arms, people are treated inhuman everywhere
And even though we already know what we need to do but then billionaires wouldn’t be a thing 😢🎉😂
....or simply a demostration of "muscle"!

Don't underestimate the knowledge and wisdom of statecraft gained from a five thousand year old crucible. There is reason to respect your elders.
Sometimes the elder is a bad parent who abuses their kids. China has concentration camps running around the clock. They don't even care about their own citizens and they constantly lie to the world and the public.
Most Empire fell from being overly stretched and extended. History should be learned.
In ancient Chinese military strategy book Si Ma Fa (《司馬法》The Marshal's Art of War, Chapter: Reng Ben 《仁本》 ), it was written,“A country that loves to go to war will eventually perish, but even though the world is in peace, a country that forgets how to go to war will be endangered"
US is a warlike nation with constant wars with one after another, so it final destiny is pretty neat in the future. It will soon go broke and collapse like former Soviet Union.
In Chinese, I believe it is 好战必亡,忘战必危.
And very important is also the other side. Because the Qing dynasty forgot how to go to war in the early 19th century, it was endangered.
This is very important to remember. You must never forget history.

@@chaliwen7217 Easy to invade and conquered, but not occupied. That would be difficult. To govern effectively? Nearly impossible.

Great question.
Remember that the Ukraine War was started by Putin. Xi has already stated that Taiwan 'belongs' to China and will take it by force if necessary! Autocrats like Putin and Xi are a threat to world Peace (not the US). Your question is absurd on its face!

Well said.
Self defeating and ridiculous, are an accurate choice of words.

While stock prices can be an indicator, it is hardly the best way to measure economic health. Lifting 800 million people out of poverty and unleashing the potential of these 800 million people is what really made China strong today.
Reactive, unimaginative, and ineffective, says Andrew Bacevich of USA International Diplomacy in 2023..
USA international policy; death, destruction, monopoly, exploitation, bullying, forcing weapon buying etc etc
China foreign policy; construction and development, providing affordable products to the world.
Amy Goodman, what’s wrong with wanting to stop the war through negotiations?
Just imagine what the status of the US would be if it would have fostered friendship, (free) education for foreigners, trade relations and a general mood of trust and friendship. It took the opposite path and is now earning what it has planted over the last 50 years.
Unfortunately they haven't had an ounce of the good qualities it takes to lead a nation like that since their inception. Look at their relationship with the Native Americans.
Respectfully, and as a US citizen, CHARGE the war criminals.
It is not the Anglosphere. It's the Talmudsphere.

Well, the native American did, and the mexican lost california, Texas, the native Hawaiian did.
That just sounded parallel to what the Canadian gov.did to its own citizens during the illegal mandates & kov.Idd shots disregarding body autonomy.
the lands Russians are "occupying" are a) inhabited by people opposed to Kiev govt, and that same govt is very opposed to them (as in prefers to see them dead), b) historic, collective name for those regions is Novorossiya c) atrocities Russians did like systematic killing of POWs done by Ukrainians (they are very proud of that), or death squads (you people call that "filtration units" d) as for family analogy, if a neighbor annexes my cousins house and inhabitants (by an approval of his cousin), kills one of cousin's kids and beats up another shouldn't I help my cousin and not his abuser? e) you attacked Serbia and created "independent" Kosovo because Serbs were abusive to Albanians (abusive meaning not giving them part of country)
Russia is not compromising the invader called US. Russia is fighting for its people living in the region.

Georgia ain't Eldest White... Russia & Ukraine are same, were the same idea, looking diverse for a story, not Periodic Table
Andrew Bacevich was a full bird colonel. He was one of the monsters of of the Vietnam war. He's no saint.
Look the USA isn't much better, but as people of the world we can't be okay with stronger nations invading weaker ones. Simple truth and reason must prevail.
I honor his service and that of his son, but that doesn't mean he is right in this case.

Kirby: "They (China) haven't condemned this invasion ..." Which invasion?! Is that the "invasion" Kirby is talking about?!
If Putin winds up in a cell in Brussels, shouldn't Blair and Bush occupy the cells on either side of his?
Why only 2 of them
Not that i necssarily support China.
US foreign policy changed when we threw in with Israel. We have been in decline since then. The Israeli press brags of Biden's Jewish cabinet.

Protect the world from the US
“Bidding farewell to the American century” is a bit of an optimistic sub-heading for the book. I live in Britain. The British empire peaked towards the end of the 19th century and was in decline during WW1 alread,y but still there are numpties here who hark back to the imperialist past. I once had a baseball glove and a 49ers top; the nearest you get these days to anything American round here is that the young people call cops “feds”.
@@sinjersable usa. The white race is vanishing as in all white nations except ex communist
