To see the roots you can grow it in a plastic pot in rock wool

If you give it proper time it DOES grow another bulb at each new plant location. You leave the main bulb and harvest the new ones.

Off the lotus subject but I had to say your plants rock man! I got three red crypts and one contortion Val on Thursday. The crypts already have new growth and the Val already shot a runner off and it has sprouted leaves. Super healthy plants! I HIGHLY recommend that everyone purchase from our friend Jacob here! 👍 Keep up the good work.

How do they do with surface agitation? I've had trouble growing Duckweed and Red Root Floaters due to high surface agitation.

Jonathan Hughey I would assume they would do fine if water gets on the leaves (as their leaves are submersed before getting to the surface) and also they would probably do well with high flow since the stems keep the plant anchored.

Low to medium water flow is good for tiger lotus from my experience. They dont do very well with high flow.

Jacob, Im in need of some serious help here. Had two of these bad boys. One I grew from a bulb, the other came mailed as a mature plant with 4" leaves. So the leaves on the mail ordered plant began to show melt, after about a couple months of being in the tank, even though it was throwing up new growth every week. I eventually removed the plant because it was separated from the bulb and I suspected this was the reason it died. The other however grew tremendously for about 2 months since erupting from the bulb, but the leaves are still very small/low to the ground and they too have started to melt?!!! I dose thrive all in one, and have a finnex planted light. The substrate is 50/50 Pool sand and Seachem Flourite. I also add root tabs. I have no freaking clue man. Every other plant in this tank is absolutely thriving lol. The melting is taking place on the edges, and it looks as if it is a blueish color and the leaves become slowly transparent. Is this a normal thing? I can't find anything on the internet man, this is my last resort lol

I just bought the tiger lotus just two days ago...from Jacob's Plants. Can't wait to get them... Want to know if you ever use aquarium co-op easy green fertilizer? Heard it helps you grow beautiful plants. Thank you Jacob...learn a lot from you...love your laugh.

Will the leaves that floats on the surface gets algae or anything? The led in my tank is about an inch and half away from the water surface.

    Great video Jacob!
I've been looking for a good Tiger Lotus description/care/propagation video for a while and now here it is!
I've been reading also about a method of propagation where you split the rizome but since it does'nt make much sense to me i've not tried it yet. I does'nt have a Red or Green Tiger Lotus yet tough (they are pretty rare in my area) but i'm currently own a Nymphaea Stellata wich i've got with no bulb at all, just leaves and some roots, and i'm specting (or trying) to make it bloom and collect some seeds after the flower dies...
Either way, great video i love it. 👍

Do you grow them in pure sand? I need to make a somewhat of a nursery because the plant i bought is pretty small, i want to make sure it gets much bigger.

Found your channel just in time. Bought seachem fertilizers. Can you please share the recommended power of the light ? Also in the website it's mentioned that shipping is not international. Am from India, Bangalore. Local stores here doesn't have much collection. Is there a way to get your plants here ? I don't mind ordering bulk if required.

Hi Jacob, I put some of my Tigar Lotus plants in an outdoor water garden for the summer. Now that summer is over what do I do with them? Do they need to go dormant? or should I try starting another aquarium so that they have an indoor spot? How does one bring on the dormant bulb stage? Can they live outside in a water garden in the winter? I've really enjoyed having them outside, and so did the fish, but they did multiply rather quickly out there, LOL.

Not being a botnist, I'd call that stem leading from the bulb to roots, an umbbilical cord. 😁
