All of the fluids, motor, transmission, front and rear diffs are Amsoil did the motor since brand new and the rest I changed at 34k miles. I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off then I'll ductape them back on and keep driving. The 6.0l gas motor is the most reliable gas motor for trucks ever made the transmissions are the most reliable transmission GM has ever made, and pair that with some Amsoil the best in class synthetic oils, 400, 500, 600k miles isn't too far out of reach. My 2500hd 6.0 was purchased new 18 years ago and used for a recreation vehicle and general truck stuff, still works great. Worst thing that has happened is the fuel pump and water pump goes out occasionally and the ac compressor system had to be recharged once about a year ago. Beyond that because it is lifted it has ruined the front axle bearing about every 7 years due to the angles they are working at.
I work for a package delivery company. All are vans are Chevy’s. We just got about 40 new 2020 vans. They only have big V-6’s but they have plenty of power and get about 19 MPG on the highway. They have 8 lug wheels so I’m guessing they are at least 1 ton vans. Much nicer than our old V-8’s we’ll see how they do over the long run. Our old trucks had as many as 700,000 miles.
Have a 14 year old Chevy 1500 4x4 lifted and only issues have been fuel pump and u joint. 150k miles. Fuel pump $65 (did it myself) u joint $200 (bought whole other drive shaft). Been a good truck.
Scotty these GM HD trucks are all I buy for the town where I work as the mechanic, We get 16-20 years of fleet service out of them without ever touching the powertrain, this is with use 5 days a week 35-40 hrs running time a week. It’s not uncommon for our trucks to have 12-20000 engine hours.our 2015s have 6000 hrs already . The specs you were quoting were for the 2020 6.6L , the truck you have in your video is a 2018 or a 19 . It has the 360 Hp 6.0, which I like better than the new 6.6L because the 6.0 has port injectors the new 6.6L is DFI ,and it’s not a split system, so I haven’t bought any yet to see how they hold up.. we buy ours thru the lowest commercial truck bidder that will deliver it to us..
John Wayne Kilmer Hey there pilgrim, that horse your eyeing up buying there is an endless money pit. What you need is a good, reliable Japanese horse that can travel the high plains for decades and decades without killing over. Now if you'll excuse me I got a showdown at high noon tomorrow this side of the Rio Grande. Guys by name of the Dodge Brothers. Time to ride off into the sunset. Giddyyyyy up Celica!!!!
My 2008 Denali is rated to tow 10,000 lbs. my trailer with load is 5500 lbs. if ambient temperature is above 60 degrees it will over heat. I asked about a radiator from one of their HD trucks? They all use the same radiator. I went to aftermarket radiator three times the cooling and added two large transmission coolers and removed the grill. Now I can tow when it’s in the 90 s.
I'm a Ford guy, but my work has had GMC and Chevy 2500 and 3500 cargo vans forever. Pushing 30+ years of using these vans. We have a fleet of 4-5 at a time and they tow, haul, and are always loaded with service tools. Regularly the owner runs them to 200-300k miles with nothing more than regular maintenance and then sells them for quite a few grand when they are around 12 years old to other local businesses. I'm impressed with them. 5.3 and 6.0 powered. They recently added a 3500 6.6 Gasser utility body. Hope that holds up for us.
That sounds like a really good idea to use old Neons; or old anything for that matter, as baggage cart pullers. Other small airlines should copy Bearskin Airlines.
Only brand new vehicle I ever bought (40yrs old now) was a 2006 Chevy 1500 WT 4x4. The WT is a "work truck" model, vinyl floors, crank up windows , radio and thats it. Back then the work truck meant bigger brakes, bigger alternator , and few other things. Had the 4.8l V8 and from 7 miles to 225,000 miles I had to replace the alternator and that's it! Of course oil, brakes, and wheel bearings (cause it's a Chevy) but that thing just kept going, original gas and brake lines, fuel pump, everything that usually goes just lasted. Only reason I had to call it quits was I live in Maine and rust got to the body. And I used that thing towing , hauling, 4x4 in snow storms and whatnot, pulling people out in the muddy job sites. The truck was built in Canada. Got a 2015 2500hd and we'll see if it can let be up to it's older cousin. Doubtful cause they don't make trucks for the work man anymore, more about the weekend warriors pulling their side x sides or campers who need air conditioner seats and parking sensors cause they have no business in a truck that size.
Not only the 10 speeds but the 8 speeds too. Designed to fail and made it for how many years. Love the vids Scotty keep up the good work and continue being the one and only brutally honest mechanic out there
A while ago my brother had a Neon. While driving in Italian Tune-Up mode the doors would pull away from the door frames to the point where we could see daylight. He could have saved Bearskin Airlines the trouble of removing the doors.
I work out of a van for the last 5 years it’s been a dodge 2500 but I got it for free still I wish I could get a new van you can stand up in .one day maybe you can get me one Scotty ? Hav e a great weekend buddy 🖖
sorry scotty the 6.0 is 360 hp and 380 torque. the work truck has the same power train as any other gm 2500, just lower options. that's not a crew cab either it's a 4 door, crew has full size rear doors not the half doors, love the videos you are entertaining!
Ive got a 2017 WT 1500 with the v6 she has 180k+ miles and not one major issue except for the tourque converter going out but that was while it was still under warrenty. And let me tell you I've been all over the place with this thing, shes a beast to Ive pulled all kinds of things with it, cars included she doesnt break a sweat. As good as this truck has been and with the fact it runs better the older it gets i feel like I got a diamond in the ruff! No need in the insanely more expensive models you can just attach that stuff yourself later and save thousands! Ill prolly never sell this truck. Oh and "knock on wood" she still has her original tranny, and with CAI and upgraded dual flowmasters shes purring like a kitten
I love Scotty but he hates on GM in every video, and then every single time he has one come into the shop he claims “this is the only good GM vehicle.” Maybe they are just good vehicles 🤷♂️ 😂
I spend a lot of time on the road for my job and over the years i have realized that I see a lot of chevys broke down sitting on side of the road, Fords are a close 2nd. Some weekends my buddy's and i would place bets on which brands do we see most often along the interstate with the hood up when we come back from up north snowmobiling, its usually a toss up between ford and chevy80% of the time
unfortunately, it seems like tiny cars are now unpopular in the US as there's no more Yaris Hatch nor Honda Fit. Instead, the US prefers micro SUV's since Toyota is making a Corolla SUV.

Ha ha
Best use of a neon. Ever
Even you should know that 6.0 is 360 hp 380 lb ft not 400hp,that is the new 6.6 gas
Correct.
Scottys new neighbors must love him out there screaming and setting off sirens. 🤣
Haha they share about 80 percent with half ton.....scotty oh these are completely different lol
I had a 2000 chevy s-10 for 14 years.
It was a 4 cylinder with the 5 speed manual transmission, what a great truck that was, I miss driving it.
Considering I just rolled over 430,000 I’d say yes on a 2012 5.3
Mine's an 06 Duramax LBZ, and it kicks on this thing!
I bet the injectors kick but to 😃
@@markmenhinick7161 Kicking 6.0 PowerStrokes straight to their graves, tbh.
My grandad was a Hotshot driver and drove nothing but Chevy trucks.
Damn Scotty, you really flexing yo muscles dude! Nice flex.
I commuted in Seattle year-round in Seattle! I did have ABS brakes. 50,000+ miles. no incidents.
Canada Day.. Truck made in Canada, Red Green inspired baggage handling vehicles... you go Scotty
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 364000 miles, pipefitters rig.
It's nice to hear scotty mention,
Thunder Bay, Ontatio.
The electric guy pulls up to work on a house and out comes Scotty and his camera asking if he can film his truck! LOL
REDGREEN SHOW ROCKS. Scotty just got me excited....
Glad to have ya in TN. Clarksville is booming but still small enough to live!
Commercial GM products are better because they are bought in fleets. If you do a company dirty, they won't come back.
I agree. I have 2 of them, a 2003 with about 250,000 miles on it, and a 2007 with about 160,000 miles.
I have the 2019 Chevy 2500 express 6.0 cargo van. It's a BEAST
I work out of a van for the last 5 years it’s been a dodge 2500 but I got it for free still I wish I could get a new van you can stand up in .one day maybe you can get me one Scotty ? Hav e a great weekend buddy 🖖
It’s not a crew cab. It’s a 4 door extended can. The crew cabs have longer doors on the rear.
His neighbor's love him more than ever running the sirens on that thing.
Is that the truck with the Piston slap problem? Or is that the truck that has the class action lawsuit for the transmission on it?
I'm a Bowtie gal. Love my 1988 Chevy 4×4. And mine new Impala from my dad who passed from the China virus. Good and bad in all brands.
lol I'm sure your neighbors are loving that siren.... I keep watching you though
Still the third best in the heavy pickup market, out of three manufacturers.
sorry scotty the 6.0 is 360 hp and 380 torque. the work truck has the same power train as any other gm 2500, just lower options. that's not a crew cab either it's a 4 door, crew has full size rear doors not the half doors, love the videos you are entertaining!
I like that new LED lighting behind you.
Red Green used to be a favorite...good stuff...
The 1500’s using the 5.3 with the 6speed are the way to go for a smaller full size. We use them daily for hauling, and retire them at 350k miles...
My 2011 GMC 2500 HD has 235k on it of plowing & pulling all original just did the maintenance religiously
Scotty just did a pull up 😂😂😂😂 how can anyone not like him
Ya right, more like made it appear he did a pullup.
@@rxtuninginc8444 thanks, no fun police
@@donnelcrunk2122 shut it pleb, if I wanted your opinion would mean I actually care.
I saw that pull up you did on that bar
You are really one of a kind😊
IT'S light show with Scotty
I love Scotty but he hates on GM in every video, and then every single time he has one come into the shop he claims “this is the only good GM vehicle.” Maybe they are just good vehicles 🤷♂️ 😂
I spend a lot of time on the road for my job and over the years i have realized that I see a lot of chevys broke down sitting on side of the road, Fords are a close 2nd. Some weekends my buddy's and i would place bets on which brands do we see most often along the interstate with the hood up when we come back from up north snowmobiling, its usually a toss up between ford and chevy80% of the time
Scotty's neighbors....... damn Scotty is at it again!
I wish the U.S. got the Yaris GR so that Scotty could review it🤙🏽
unfortunately, it seems like tiny cars are now unpopular in the US as there's no more Yaris Hatch nor Honda Fit. Instead, the US prefers micro SUV's since Toyota is making a Corolla SUV.
The older 6.0 is rated at 360hp and 380 lb ft of torque. The new 6.6 gasser is the one rated at 401hp and 464 lb ft torque.
