The modern supercharged and turbo engines with direct injection are amazing... This one reaches 406 peak torque at 1400 rpm, both C&D and Motortrend have clocked it under 4 secs for 0-60... You get close to Ferrari 430 territory for 70K dollars, while at the same time you have the refinement, luxury and technology of an Audi.
Brian, you could have started reviewing the S6, switch to the S3, pop into an S4, slide in an S5, pan to the S7, finish in the S8 and nobody would have suspected a thing.
this car is underrated. People keep on raving about the cts v sport putting out 420 hp, but whats the point when this has the same amount of power and better gas millage?
I've never been a fan of Audi, but recently, I'm going NUTS over the new A/S6 and A/S7. They are both supremely well engineered cars, and honestly, I want them more than a competing BMW or Merc. My how times have changed.
In the past, Audi did have the S4 up against the M3, then decided to drop the regular V6 from the A4 (it and the 4cyl were offered in tandem, too), and lower the S4 to a lessor realm. So, yes, Audi themselves made the impression their "S" cars compete vs AMG and M.
I agree. You can't have two different cars competing with the same one. In the absence of an RS model, they say it competes with the M3, let's say. Then when the RS arrives, they say it competes with the... M3. Well, which is it? The S and RS aren't the same car by any stretch, so it's only fair (and pricewise like you said) to compare the two highest models.
I really love this car, personally I would prefer Audi's S more than BMW's M because it's livable, understated, and elegant looking with great performance too. This is the car in the big game commercial :P #braverywins
S6 doesn't compete with the AMG or M. It is equal to for example an S6 competes with an E550 with the AMG package or a BMW 550 with M sport package. The AMG and M compete with the RS.
The quality of the video was kinda crappy, even in HD. I would expect a better camera setup to be used by a channel, which mainly focuses on tech. But the review is really good, as always.
Every time you open the hood of any Audi (not R8) you can oh so clearly see that almost the entire engine is in front of the front axle. All cars use some kind of help for traction and stability. But the amount of traction and stability help the Audi cars need must surpass most cars. Porsche has finally after more than 40 years fixed the problem with having the engine in the wrong place. Now Audi has the engine at an even worse place. No matter what you do and even get the balance to 50/50, you always know you have all that weight on and in front of your front tires. If you cut ALL traction control and torque vectoring in a car it shows it true balance. Before all these help systems Audi cars were know for one thing: UNDER STEER.
Well the E46 M3 did compete with the S4 of its time. But for the next generation BMW put in a V8 and stepped up a class entirely, and Audi somehow got blamed for it.
I think I should comment on the video real quick. I would definitely consider buying this car if it was in my price range. Remember guys I said consider.
I don't want to start a debate with my comment. However, you can't compare a 2003 any type of car, to a 2013 year vehicle. Now if you wanted to do it as entertainment, have every right to. I just don't think cInet will be comparing those cars anytime soon.
If you're the only person who will ever be in the car, then yes, it's a terrible value. But if you are a doctor/lawyer with a family and 100k to blow on a family sedan, this is GREAT!
4.5 second 0-60 is awesome for a car this size. The pop up nav screen looks so bad in a car this expensive though. Infiniti and Acura do a much better job integrating it into the dash. Even the older A6 nav screen looked like it fit the dash better.
I'm not saying it lazy to splice in the S7 interior review in the middle but it's kinda lazy. Cooley should have at least worn the same clothes and most wouldn't have noticed.
S6/S7 suck: too heavy, bad mpg, no manual, massive understeer (thank you, Quattro). Get an S4/S5 or a BMW M car. Or move to Europe and get an RS6 if you really want an Audi with some power. Oh, I nearly forgot, it's overpriced, too, like all Audis.

Car still looks good today. Cant go wrong with Audi’s from 2009 to 2019
Yeah, it's crazy. I used to not like Audi's but then they redesigned the 8, 6, and made a 7. Ever since I've been crazy about these Audi's.
omg u deserve a medal ur parents must be so proud of u
Cooley makes these videos 10x better
Brian, you could have started reviewing the S6, switch to the S3, pop into an S4, slide in an S5, pan to the S7, finish in the S8 and nobody would have suspected a thing.
I've driven a few of these. They are so dam smooth.
I do really like how this guy talks

Amazing car! so beautiful inside out! I love how audi design the rear and those DRLs and omg the interior is simply the best!
Please that car looks boring.not worth it

Do Audi's still live at the mechanic's?
In the past, Audi did have the S4 up against the M3, then decided to drop the regular V6 from the A4 (it and the 4cyl were offered in tandem, too), and lower the S4 to a lessor realm.

anyone else miss Brian and these videos?
They're both great companies thank you very much. :(
The HP and TQ is under-rated by a TON. It's more like 450hp

The cabin tech portion is from the 2013 Audi S7 video, as it's essentially identical.
I heard that Audi won't release the RS6 to the US anymore. The last year of the RS6 was I think 2003.
They are so gorgeous!!!!
I really love this car, personally I would prefer Audi's S more than BMW's M because it's livable, understated, and elegant looking with great performance too.

Dead Ass smooth Bryan? What are you not telling us?
brian...money not an object what car would you purchase?

The RS6 was not available in the USA. I believe this video is made for a mainly American audience.
You are right. CNET is an American company and these videos are made here.
Ralph I agree the new one is much more powerful
very positive review. i like
Under what package is active parking assist. Audi USA doesn't mention it
Why are you guys re-upping old videos?
did he change shirts or is the cabin tech from another vid?
The quality of the video was kinda crappy, even in HD. I would expect a better camera setup to be used by a channel, which mainly focuses on tech. But the review is really good, as always.
goota love Audis

Fast Er yip, you are correct. This problem manifests in all audis, including rs models (r8 being the honorable exception).
Man I love Audis, way better looking than BMW and Mercs and better to drive everyday. Audi wins
Well the E46 M3 did compete with the S4 of its time. But for the next generation BMW put in a V8 and stepped up a class entirely, and Audi somehow got blamed for it.
Wow, so Audi gives you an S6 to putz around in and you phone it in with half the review being from a previous S7 review. Nice gig!
It doesnt compete with the AMGs or M's yet I'd rather have an S6 over a childish M5 and maybe even the AMG
I think I should comment on the video real quick. I would definitely consider buying this car if it was in my price range. Remember guys I said consider.
Actually he did; from 1:45 to 3:55 he was reviewing S7.
I LOVE AUDI.
The engine looks so much better without that cover.
Audi, the best!
wow luv it 👍👍
Motorweek tested this car and got 0-60 in 3.8 seconds !!!!

Have I seen this review before?
"Who does V8s anymore?"
I don't know. Maybe their competitors? BMW and MB both do.
Ohhh god its soooo goooooooooooood
S is a different class than M or AMG is! RS is the rival for M or AMGs. An S6 is just like an 550i or an E550.
If you're the only person who will ever be in the car, then yes, it's a terrible value. But if you are a doctor/lawyer with a family and 100k to blow on a family sedan, this is GREAT!
Or just get one used for 1/3 of msrp 4-5 years later
I'd drive that!
At 3:59 he says S7 oooops!
Thats because he was talking about the S7's capin

Infinity is a drive by wire though. Vague steering is completely unacceptable. Ill take this over the infinity.
I like the A8
id rather have the old one with the 5.2 V10
But the S6 beat the AMG and M equivalent in a recent comparo. It's also faster to 60 than the E63 (not 2014) and the F10 M5.
Damn $86k that's a lot...
Mmm.... watch the video, it's a rhetorical question. This one has a twin turbo V8 too.
Got to give it to volkswagen man!! German cars really taking over
Simple mods really wake this engine up.
SUBTLE DIFFERENCES IN FASCIA >:C
Smh. Amazing
Do the sq5
Lol he was saying - S6 and I was hearing - Ass 6 :P
man i wish i was rich; id buy this and get the wife the new q5 with the supercharged 3liter 6.
Rather get an Audi than Jaq anything, even if it was the same price
On the 8th Day, God created Brian Cooley
mooore cooooley
would i spend a couple more on a barge like a base s class over a 6? yes
Why we are watching s7's review middle of s6's review?
the S Line of cars from audi only compete with the E550 from merc and the 550 from bmw.
Wow 86k. !!!
I would have.
I'm not saying it lazy to splice in the S7 interior review in the middle but it's kinda lazy.
Cooley should have at least worn the same clothes and most wouldn't have noticed.
Is it me or Cooley gained weight?
He called it an S7 at 3:59...
No RS6 kid, though most of what you said is correct
Didn't sound like one. And I'm well aware of the engine it has.
This car is MUCH faster than 4.5
The Audi RS-models compete with M and AMG!!
The footage from the S7 review is used in this one. Lazy reviewing.
+chancy319 Only when reviewing the interior...because if you've ever been inside these vehicles, you'll know they're idenitcal.
There's no REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT !
ya your mother should be real proud...
probably a lambo or a ferrari
Not bad car
Because its the same car (basically).
Seems like a great car but they just don't look that good to me
idk this or 535
not as much as they used to. but then again 75% is better then 100% but it still sucks.
Bmw m car is fun to drive but cheap to looking at
Merc amg is sound fantastically but dull interiors
Audi balance car expensive to buy
This car is a Quattro -.-
Actually nothing can compete with M:)
lol ur just paranoid with the word S...
I love audis tech but... They always seem to come across just too damn boring :/
since when a car is a 'GUY' ?
Ain't got an AMG, ain't got a car.
2003 E55. $66K less, 100lbs more torque, 50HP more. More room and 0.3s faster to 60mph. Do A comparo cnet.
Audi = Comfortable cars.
BMW = Die hard snob useless track only car.
Tesla Model S is better.
Bmw sucks..
Sorry boring looking BMW and old people Merc. Audi is King
genesis r spec is 40 grand cheaper lol
+Smokey BEAR WHAT?! A HYUNDAI IS CHEAPER?! STOP THE PRESSES!
it's also a coupe and has less of everything
for 72k might as grab a Jaguar.
