I think the Viper is one of the most beautiful star fighters ever designed

I received this model as a gift and it is absolutely glorious. Unfortunately mine is a Chinese bootleg not Lego branded, so I'll need to get on the Vault website and pay the creator for the instructions. Absolutely incredible MOC!

Personally i think the minifig one is more accurate but this has some great moving parts !

Beautiful! UCS Galactica and Pegasus scaled to each other would be nice. And a Basestar.

I've built both of these. The Viper had a couple mistakes in the documentation (the L bar inside the nose engine bay should be visible) I also modded the cockpit canopy to be 1/3 stud higher which matches up great with the nose/enclosure. The dark red pieces were expensive, as some were exclusive to a couple older sets. Same with the technic panels under the dorsal fin. Price those out if you are considering this build. The engines in the back consist of 3 tires and 12 track treads each. If you substitute the tires for the same ones that come with the Mac Anthem technic set, it requires 13 track treads each. The base could use a re-design for structural strength. This is one heavy MOC.
It (and the cylon raider), are an iconic piece of my childhood. They were both very expensive to build for the simple fact that if you Bricklink, you need to get NEW white/light grey pieces. Same with the canopy. There is a good chance you will order a used one and it comes scratched or discoloured (like my first order)

I love this, I always love seeing a good Galactica build, if I had the money I'd totally be ordering the parts and the instructions to build this!!!!

The main challenge to a build of this size is managing and sorting the large number of parts without the benefit of numbered bags. It requires a large work area considering you also need to make room for a device to display the PDF file instructions. It would have been so nice if Lego could have released this model. Having said that, I am personally starting the construction of this great fighter from Battlestar Galactica.

  • @genAndre

I don't know too much about Battle Star Galactica, but this looks pretty cool.

You could've easily yanked some random stickers from a Star Wars interior to deck out this interior. A superb build, indeed!

Would be nice to see a Babylon 5 fighter, either of the Earth Force models but I imagine the later Thunderbolt would be easier due to the amount of unusual glass of the earlier model.

Does anyone else think the air intake on the bottom looks a bit bigger than it should be? Idk if that's just me or if its a bit wonky lookin. (Probably to get the landing gear into it.) The rest of the model looks fantastic, I'll have to get the instructions someday soon!

Have the TIE Fighter/Interceptor instructions been updated to have an interior more similar to that of the TIE Defender that you sell? Most importantly, can the current TIE Fighter MOC now hold a TIE pilot with the newer helmet mold?
