Hi Steve. Yes, the rain called a halt to proceedings earlier than planned, and I was stuck in the bivvy for longer than normal. But it was a really enjoyable overnighter, and great to meet Chris. Cheers for watching and see you soon👍
Well that looked brilliant even though it was a rather wet night! Wonderful Sunrise and mists - always the best combination Des. Looked like you really enjoyed that one mate. And much respect for being in the Bivvy in the wet. Although didn’t look at all cold so not too bad at all. Chris seems a good guy too 👍👍👍 Have a good rest of the week mate.
Hi Dave. It was a great trip (although bivvying in the rain was definitely not part of the plan!). I'm sure you'd get along well with Chris. A great naturalist...knows his stuff right across the board! Always helping me ID stuff on Instagram! 😁 The sunrise was much better than expected, given the conditions, but the light was just stunning! All the best and see you soon👍☺
Hi Dan. It was great to get out on a little wild camp again! Hopefully our autumn weather will be better than our summer has been, so I can fit a couple more in! 😁 All the best & see you soon👍
Hi Bruce and Otis! It was a fun trip! The rain sent us inside a bit earliervthan planned, but we enjoyed a great couple of days hiking. The heather is really beautiful this year. Maybe lest dusty because of all the rain we've had? All the best and take care both of you 👍☺
Hi Des, it was nice seeing you meet up with another TH-camr! 😃 I have watched some of Chris's videos and have enjoyed his content. Lovely walk up through the Goyt Valley to Shining Tor. Apparently there has been a recent spate of vandalism at Errwood Hall, so it's been fenced off for a couple of months whilst repairs are made. Sorry the weather wasn't the best for you during your camp, but glad it was better the following morning. Looks like you both had a great time. All the best 🙂👍
Hi Patrick. It was great to meet Chris. Such an interesting and knowledgeable guy! A really great trip, aside from the rain! 😁 I did actually joke to Chris that they may have fenced off Errwood Hall to keep the oiks out during the summer holidays 😂 A bit ironic when you think that the hall was actually destroyed on purpose when the reservoir was built! Cheers for watching and see you soon👍☺
WOW! That tree truck was so cool. You and a Chris look like y’all had a great time. Too bad you couldn’t get in. The views were nice. Great vlog of you adventure. Windy camp spot. Yikes, fun to hike when rain is unexpected. The sunrise was nice. Be safe, Bill and DeAnna
Hi Bill & DeAnna. We had a great time, even with the rain! It was great to meet Chris. Such an interesting guy! Cheers for watching! All the best and take care👍☺
What a gorgeous walk and camp, thank you for sharing a part of the Peaks I’ve never visited. Thank you, I am subscribed to both of your channels ATB, Sarah
Nice to see someone out on a wildcamp in this beautiful British Summer weather. It is still a nice hike and a night out. There was no way you could have camped by the Trig in that wind Des. Is Mother Nature giving us a taste of things to come. Isn't Jodrell Bank visible normally from Shining Tor Des? Pity about Erwood Hall. There aren't any dangers that I'm aware of and like you said, they aren't likely to rebuild it. Great collab and a great vlog as always Des. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chris. That unforecast rain really did come in horizontally! So windy up there! You could clearly see Jodrell Bank when the weather allowed. Patrick (Solitary Rambler) commented that Errwood Hall has been fenced off due to vandalism 🙁 I did notice some fire scars there on my last visit, to be honest. A great little trip overall though, really enjoyed it! 👍☺
@DesGreene just found a Goyt Valley site, and apparently, vandals have removed some of the stone steps to try and gain access to a cellar that isn't there. Plus, people had been lighting fires on the walls in places. Yet again, the few ruining it for the many sadly.
Fabulous chronicle of the trip Des, though I didn't look very elegant crushing my beer can! That spot we found sheltered by the wall was just the ticket on a wet and windy night like we had. I'm still editing my efforts though am dreadfully slow at it. Thanks for the company mate, I had a great time. PS, been studying Combs Moss on the map. What a sprawling beast it appears to be (I clocked a Flint Clough there too 😉). Bye for now, Chris
Hi Chris. I'm looking forward to seeing your take on it! Great to meet you, and really enjoyed the wild camp. Combs Moss is every bit as good as it looks on the map! We'll definitely have to give it a go some time👍 All the best and take care👍
I thoroughly enjoyed that des - so good to see you both out together. Two naturalists digging the nature - awesome. I think maybe you preferred another shelter - well the met don't get it right all the time but you were OK. Some good walking there especially in the morning. I imagine the scenes out and back in stimulated lots of conversation. I know Chris was photographing everything. Well, good going. Until next time all the best. Mark
Hi Mark. One naturalist and a wannabe naturalist maybe? 😁 It was great to meet Chris, such an interesting bloke. The Met office definitely got the forecast wrong, so I was stuck in the bivvy for longer than ideal, but it was a great trip. Really enjoyed the hike too. Only 14 miles overall, but a real contrast between the valley on the way out and the route back along the ridge! Cheers for watching. Really appreciate it👍
Hi Des, lovely walk and wild camp. It was about a month ago I did a wild camp up there, the wind can be unforgiving but thankfully there’s plenty of walls to tuck behind. It’s an great spot for a camp and the views are amazing when it’s clear. Thanks Des, a very enjoyable watch 😊
Hi Rachel. Nearly always a wind ripping in up there! At least it kept the midges away! We may have even been in the same spot as you. You could see the grass had been flattened before. Only thing I'm not keen on, is that it's difficult to find anywhere far enough from the path, and it can get busy there at times. All the best and see you soon👍☺
Guten Abend, tolles Video 🎹 gut gemacht, super 👍danke für gegenseitige Unterstützung, wir wünschen dir einen schönen Mittwochabend, liebe Grüße Anne & Siggi 👍 Abofreund 🔔
Fun meet up with Chris! Too bad about the rain and wind… I guess the wall helped a bit, whew. I’d love to take a hike there to see the views and wildflowers, but I think I’d stay in a hotel- lol! Pretty area, enjoyed the video- Happy Tuesday!! 😄👍👌- Jen
Hi Jennifer. Sory for the slow response. We were away all last week. It was great meeting up with Chris. He's so knowledgeable on all the plants and flowers, not to mention the geology! Really enjoyed the trip, and the weather didn't cramp our style too much 😁 Cheers for watching & see you soon!👍☺
Fantastic Des a good walk with a kindred spirit 🤠👍 The walk out was most impressive on the views side of things 🤩 The Bivvi seemed to work out good (can’t beat the convenience of a Bivvi ) as long as the night isn’t too long 🤠🙏🏼 Thanks 🙏🏼 for bringing us along maté regards Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Hi Simon. Had a great time, and really nice to meet Chris. The bivvy kept me warm and dry, but with the weather taking a turn for the worse so early it was a long night! 😂 At least the weather had bucked up a bit by morning! It was great watching the sunrise through the mist. Many thanks for watching! All the best & take care👍☺
Yeah the train platform and pack shot...its a wildcamp lol. Your first collab I think..fantastic. Isnt YT a brilliant thing for getting like minded people together. This was a fantastic buildup with some brilliant views. Pity about the weather on the pitch itself but lovely to wake up to some interesting views. Randomly i bought myself a Osprey Stratos 36 like the one you have and its brilliant. Hopefully Ill get a tent attached and go for a camp somewhere. Great video and hope you enjoyed your collab. Hopefully many more to come 👍😃👍🥃🥃🥾🥾🎒🏕
Hi Scott! The train shot is becoming a cliche you think? 😂 It was my first collab, and great to meet Chris. Such an interesting bloke. Shame the weather sent us to bed before we'd completely put the world to rights, but we had a great time anyway. I found out something new about the Stratos 36...it fits inside the head end of my bivvy just great! Always used to leave it outside wrapped in a bin bag, but just grabbed it and stuffed it inside when the rain arrived 😂 Great overnight pack. Just wish it had an expandable mesh pocket on the front instead of that vertical zipped one (unless new models are different?) All the best and take care 👍☺
I aint done a wildcamp for ages now, making me want to get out and do one before the weather closes in too much......must be an anxious time to begin with camping with a virtual stranger, however it looked like you got on well with Chris throughout the trip.......lovely views as usual Des and always appreciate your commentary.......real nice to see the heather in bloom too. Enjoyed tagging along with you both...............ATB........Stu....👍👍
To be honest Stu, I almost felt like I knew Chris already. Exactly like he comes across on his videos. Hope you get out on a camp soon! Cheers for watching & all the best!👍👍
Hi Des really struggling with data and signal as we are back out camping but watched some and will watch properly at the end of the week when we get home. Leaving a like 👍😃~ Anna
Hi Anna! You're certainly getting some camping in this summer. Very brave considering the weather! 😁 Have fun & see you soon! We've got a little Wales trip coming up soon!👍☺
Lovely video Des, I would have been tempted to pitch up in the Quarry or whatever it was you visited in the morning. We were dealing with that kind of wind and rain last week.
Hi David. It was a bit wild up there, but we were OK once we found a sheltered spot. The little quarry is very near a road and a farm, so a bit of a dodgy spot for wild camping down here (although I have seen fire scars there 🙁 ). It was a fun trip though, despite the rain! 😁
Hi Michael. It was a great trip. The bivvy isn't the most fun place to be in that sort of weather, but at least it keeps you warm and dry! Hope you're keeping well! ATB👍
He just doesn't know his own strength Dave! I'm just jealous though, as I couldn't sup mine in the bivvy! 😅 We'll definitely have to get out for one soon! Hope all is good with you👍🙂

@@DesGreene No worries Des and have a good time in Wales. I have just finished my Cambrian way adventure with my son in law and we had some rough weather but it’s starting to look more settled.
Cheers Steve! Yes, mine is one of the Spanish ones. Touch wood, I've never had any problems with the zips so far, but I do try to treat them carefully knowing others have had issues. Fantastic piece of kit, but 11 hours in it was just a bit too long! 😂
What a click that was! Cjb And Dg😊 two Brill leg-ends together 😊👍🏼🙏
