    Thank you so much for this information. Ever since I hand-beaded the Alencon lace on the bodice of my wedding dress back in 1967 I have been fascinated by fine lace, but could never find any information even close to what you present. (I never knew that Alencon and Chantilly lace started out as the same lace, but the cording is what differentiated them!)

    Thank you so much for you kindness, generosity and taking the time to teach on this, you are a good teacher. Wow the lace is sooo beautiful! Now, I definitely want to buy some. I got some cheap lace to practice your free motion stitching technique, yay and two privacy curtains to applique the lace on.. lol I was plaining to hang them in my sewing studio for privacy when I get a studio.. :)

    Dear Brenda, never afraid of making longer, comprehensive videos. People may not watch them immediately but they will when needed or whenever they are in the right mood for them. And yes, of obvious reasons it's always a great idea to mention measurements in the metric system as well. Thank you, best wishes from Ukraine.
    P.S. Could you possibly make a video on sewing those crooked darts at 35:34 ? It sounds genius. This video would be a bomb. Nobody ever showed it on YT.

      Thank you so much. ❤️ jobbers buy mill-ends and leftovers from larger runs of fabrics. They then sell them directly to the public by the yard. So, little people like us, can't buy 1,000 yards of a fabric from a mill, but we could buy a smaller, more affordable amount from a jobber.

    Hello, I have had a problem with a wedding dress that I have altered for my daughter. The lace is similar to this one and I believe that it has been stretching . I make my adjustments and then when she tries it on again, I have to take in a little more. I used the technique that you shared for adjusting a saggy back botica. I want to to a light press but I concerned that it will stretch more. I just finished the dress, I closed everything up and I don’t want to make anymore adjustments. I hope that I make sense.

    Hi Brenda, I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am for all your videos. I am a seamstress who usually works in costumes but my niece is getting married and asked if I could make her gown. I’ve been researching about wedding gowns and I have discovered that I absolutely love it! I may be interested in trying this in the future but I’m seriously clueless 😂. She has already picked out her lace which is gorgeous, but very different from what you are showing in this video. I need to put a scalloped edge in the V neck front of the gown and have been scouring the internet for the proper edge lace. Would it be ok to mix and match lace types or would it look too obvious if I do this? And I am sending a HUGE thank you to the owner of the French lace shop for helping you to teach us about this beautiful lace. P.S. I live in NYC and would love to meet you when you come! Sarah

    • @BridalSewing
      @BridalSewing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool beans regarding everything you just typed! I really need to do a vid on edging with lace. But basically, cut wherever you want to. Put slits where you have to. Layer if you have to, and fill in with extra pieces if you have to. Right now, multiple types on laces on one gown are very on-trend. I would avoid mixing different qualities of lace, but not different styles. :) I'll let you know next time we come to NYC. (Remind me! Bc I'll mention it on here.) This trip was cancelled because of no trains with Florence. ((Pout))

      Bridal Sewing Techniques oh no, I was so hoping to meet you. Whaaah 😩😂☺️ Ok, please keep me posted on your future trip to NY. I’m so glad to hear that I can mix lace! The lace my niece picked out is not your typical flower style lace but more geometric in design so I’m scouring the internet for something that matches this style, it’s good to know I don’t need to be so precise. I can’t begin to tell you how much your videos mean to me an I appreciate all that you do and you taking the time to respond to all my questions. Xoxo Sarah

Does that one come from the orient? Yes, the customers must understand that the quality of both the labor and materials will be compromised by them having a lower budget. It is an unfortunate fact of life & the brides have to be reminded of that. :/

    Are you able to give an idea of their price range?

    • @BridalSewing
      @BridalSewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have super reasonable prices, but they vary widely as well. You would have to call and inquire about what you need. The most popular 6" wide lace at my shop has a swing pattern on each side, so it makes 2 trims when you cut it in half. That makes the trims about 15$/yard. It's approximate though, because there is shipping, and they sell by the length of the loom, not really by yard.
      See why it is hard to say? Lol

      @@BridalSewing no worries. I think I need to continue researching before I can figure out exactly what kind of lace I want and can afford. And how much I would need. The confusion! Or the frustration at not being able to borrow books from the library at the moment 😅 thx for replying!

    Does Dentelle Lace stretch?

      A little bit, yes. The cording resists stretch. The net that the floral design *looks like* it sits on has a good bit of "give" to it.
