I’ve never lusted after lace like this before. I kept thinking “go back! No, the other one! Show me that one”. Seeing the lace on video is so much better than photocopies or even pictures. It is all so beautiful!
Yes, the difference between French lace and its cheaper immitations is obvious even on video. I'm sure to the touch the difference would be even more palpable. Things that are so time and labour consuming shouldn't be inexpensive. They are luxury. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! Thank you! I’m trying out heirloom sewing for women’s patterns and trying to research for my daughters future wedding. I now realize how ignorant I am on lace. This information has deepened my respect and admiration of lace and created a hunger to learn more. I appreciate the time and resources you used in making this.
Hi Lori, I get most of my fabrics and laces from Bridal Fabrics UK, and I thought you might be interested in looking at their website. It's so easy to navigate, and the products are all photographed and described really well. The page descriptions also include a short video from their TH-cam channel in which they describe and handle each fabric/lace/tulle/applique, etc. The site also has a gallery of photos submitted by seamstresses who have made garments using their products. (They also have a Bridal Fabrics US too, and a great Instagram account.) I could spend hours just drooling at their products, and I thought you might enjoy looking at them, too. www.bridalfabrics.co.uk/ instagram.com/bridalfabrics/ th-cam.com/channels/N2lY8ES9PpYirCeBhdgHJg.html
Mohair comes from the angora goat. It is their long, silky hair. It is different and not to be confused with the Angora rabbit, which produces Angora wool.
Just am now finding your TH-cam. I am fascinated by the delicate work you do and touring this lace store is amazing. What a treat! How wonderful the ladies are! Thank you for sharing.
I just left NYC yesterday 😥after visiting for both TexWorldUSA and DGExpo trade show. This reminds me of a vendor I visited based in France. I most definitely will be contacting them. Love your videos...so informative! Thank you
This was so amazing! Thank you so much for doing this video. I learned so much. I would love to also see different bridal fabrics. There’s so many. Or do you have a recommendation for a book or two on bridal fabrics?
This is beautiful! So say a bride wanted to get some repairs done on her gown but you can't find any material that matches her gown would a seamstress needs to reach out to the salon that sold her the dress or the designer of the dress? I'm not sure who would have access to order replacement fabrics like these laces in the video or some other materials.
Heyyyyy. Can I just say that the shop lady was SO RUDE. She talked over you constantly and didn't listen to anything you said. She was so annoying to listen to bless you you put up with it so well!!! I'm surprised noone else commented on that.... Either that or this is how Americans talk to each other?. Your videos are amazing!! Xxx
Not really Americans, but specifically New Yorkers, and some Northerners. Communication is viewed as more cooperative in the back and forth. Parallel & overlapping conversations are had all the time and are not considered rude. She's actually very sweet & never felt rude to me. The area that I was raised in commonly had overlapping talking. Some people think it's interrupting or talking over another, but it's not meant that way in ever area. :) They are precious people.
Hey Cathy! Thanks for watching! :) I know the video is long, so you may have missed it. I mention that they all have different prices and you call for the price on the lace you want. This is a showroom for selling to businesses, not a retail space, so things are done differently.

Right!? I want them all. Lol

Yesssssss!!
France is love to do designs and french laces well known in Chantilly and other part of france.
I loved this,, at 9:52,, that is my favorite I think..
Thank you!
What is the content of the Lyon laces? Is it 90 cotton 10 nylon like traditional French laces?
great video I enjoyed it all so much
Thanks for watching!! :)

For a typically manufactured, current modern gown, I usually have the bride request the fabric from her salon she purchased her gown through.
Anyone else think the lady from the store (who is so incredibly knowledgeable) sounds just like Joan Roberts from Kleinfeld's or is it just me?

Mohair is the thread that comes from the angora goat. Not a sheep 😅
What a treasure
Do Gelmore Lace do valenciennes lace?
I don't know. You can call them and see. :) They are super nice and helpful.
All beautiful but price ?

Impressive! Oh, to live near shops like that...😄
Right!?
Mohair is goat hair.
