This has to be one of the nicest original XS1100s around. In the February 1978 issue of Cycle World it ran an 11.78 second quarter mile which was the fastest street bike at the time an still extremely fast even by today's standards.

That is one gorgeous vintage musclebike. Always loved these. When i was in first grade in 1980, my Uncle Jay bought a new one, that was black and gold. That is a gorgeous candy apple red one, that I didn't know they made. My Uncle raced his back in the day. The only thing about this red one that I would want to change are the handlebars, into muscle bike bars. That is one badass bike! Won't last long!

We had the stock XS Eleven in our country. It was affectionately called "Pig" !
In 1979 I was 24, and went to Niagara Falls USA on vacation. I saw the XS Eleven Midnight Special in the Yamaha dealership.Wow !
One of the contemporaries of this bike was the Honda CB900F which was touted as FAST ! In Cycle Guide tests, the XS Eleven easily walked away from the 900F.
The XS Eleven was known for comfortable riding.

I wonder how this bike would stack up against a modern 1000cc sportbike, this bike is quick and I would still rather have it than a new Yamaha R1, because of this bikes simplicity with no electronics on it, iam young but would rather have an old bike than a new one
Loved mine. Until I was hit n run on it. Left for dead. Came to 5 hours later. Concussion, 7 stitches with full face helmet. 1988. Swore wouldn't ride street again. Then? First year Fatboy came out. Decent bike for what it was.

NO they don't! I scooped this baby up a couple weeks ago. It's my baby now. ☺
I spent some time riding one of those with over 60,000 miles on it , and it still ran strong. The Buckhorn bars are actually very comfortable , and they're very well balanced for a big bike. 🇨🇦🦫
