The original is not funky tho. It's pretty much a standard pop tune with an "homage" to an overused funk melody.
I once was told, "when a guitar/bass FEELS the music....it looks like he smells something funny.....when a drummer feels the music, he's looks like he's lost in space"....I love this!!!! Real musicians

That drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr. He's an absolute pro. Been Sir Paul's drummer for at least 20 years at this point...

the craziest thing to me about scary pockets is these insanely talented vocalist... who are then somehow overshadowed at times by the incredible instrumentals, production and mixing. like her voice is INSANE, but i can't stop watching/listening to the drums/bass (in particular, but really it's just all of them).

I came across Julia Nunes on TH-cam many years ago, a beautiful voice singing great songs to a single camera oh her bedroom, playing a ukulele with lots of charisma. Always thought she was great and I was't wrong. It's so nice to see the astonishing improvement she had. What a powerful voice! Great band performance, awesome arrangement, perfect match for Julia's super smooth vocals. Amazing!
